[Ren will arrive at White Chain's office during her office hours with a stack of documents and a plastic bag that is emitting interesting coffee scents, knocking politely on her door and waiting to be admitted]

2. Open, After the conversation with White Chain

[Ren has been canvassing campus and talking to friends who might be interested, looking for people who might be interested in running a Cafe as a club activity. His goal is to create a student-run cafe in an old Home-Ec classroom that he's received approval to use. His pitch is pretty simple, but he'll modify it based on his read of a person - you get paid to help run it, and all the free coffee and tea you can drink]

Okay, so I still get free coffee and you don't mention the museum thing to anyone ever? Exactly how much cleaning is involved and what's the time frame for this exchange? A week?

[Toki's already sent the tomb pictures to Kano, so it's probably getting out anyway, but he hasn't thought about that.]

A week should be fine. It's mostly taking out the trash, wiping down tables, things like that.

I should mention too while you're working you get employee benefits, so you can have a few drinks for free.

I will take you up on that offer~! Although! As they're specifically employee benefits, I get paid, right!?

[What kind of slave-driver do you take him for?]

[The kind who would have suggested working unpaid until Nightfall. Obviously, his assessment was wrong.]

Awesome~! How many varieties of coffee are you going to have? Will there be pastries?

[He will take advantage of employee benefits as much as possible.]

Probably around seven to start. No pastries yet, that will take time to set up.

[White Chain answered the door and paused, glancing at Ren, then the bag, then back to Ren.]

...Yes?

I wanted to speak with you if you have a moment. I'm looking to form a club and I think you would be an ideal adviser for it.

[peace_keeper]

What kind of club would that be?

[prisoneroffate]

I'm interested in opening a cafe in the main campus area, completely student-run. The monthly club budget should help it sustain itself, buy equipment, and pay student worker wages. This would let us run it and stock it how we want, with drinks and snacks that students prepare themselves.

So you want to start a business. Surely focusing on your studies would be time better spent while you are in school.

[prisoneroffate]

My grades are already pretty good. I'd like to take on more interesting challenges.

[peace_keeper]

Maintaining satisfactory grades is a requirement of being in extracurricular activities, yes.

So why me, then?

[Come on White Chain you know why. You have so few vices but nice hot brewed drinks is one of them, loathe though you are to admit it.]

[Well, there's this new guy, studying in the library with a cup of coffee. Again. He obviously doesn't have much of a social life.]

[Ren will approach, clearly he needs some assistance on the socializing front, right?]

What's today's brew?

[Clearly! He looks up with a smile that...mostly hides the fact that he's tired.]

I decided to go with a New England roast today. Normally I prefer slightly darker coffee, but transferring so late in the semester has been exhausting.

[Ren nods]

The Americans have some pretty good coffee, and a lot of strong ones too so that's a good choice.

European roasts are usually a bit too dark for my tastes. I'd rather taste more coffee than smoke...not to mention the darker roasts not being nearly strong enough.

[prisoneroffate]

What do you usually like to put in your coffee? You can get some really strong tastes from some of the European coffees if you use the right creams.

[foolishjustice]

I prefer it with just a little bit of sugar. I'm of the opinion that the best coffee doesn't need much tampering to have a pleasant flavor.

[He holds his cup under his face, eyes drifting closed at the smell of the coffee.]

[He'd mentioned it as an offhanded comment to the other Ren. Then again, hard to notice such attention to detail with making drinks.]

Do I have to learn to make designs too? In the drinks?

If you're up to it, sure, but it's not required. Everyone can bring their own specialties and skills.

So all I have to do is just be able to make drinks that taste decently.
