AUBE DORMS

[Around Aube dormitory, one might have easily missed the guy wandering around half-dead during the lead up to midterms. Tadashi made himself scarce to study and work on his projects. Now though? With it over? He's easily found in the common area with a book over his face asleep or ..still wandering around half-dead in a daze. Hey, guy's got a lot going on to study for. Make sure he doesn't take the last of the communal coffee. He may apologize if he bumps into you without looking.

If the music or talking is too loud next door to Room 404, he may come ask whoever it is to quiet down.]

CAFE DE LA LUNE

[The cafe is nice, well tended, and perfect for a grad student trying to focus. He's got his corner table, his laptop and notebooks, and half-empty mug of room temperature coffee forgotten while he works. Occasionally he'll stand and stretches his legs, take a little walk around the room before sitting back down and ordering a refill. Every now and then there's a frustrated grumbling from his corner, likely a script not working right, before he buckles down and gets back to it.]

QUAD

[You know what every STEM student needs? Some time outside. And Tadashi does like it. Out on the quad, sure he has his bag with all his work. But he's also got his water bottle and a soft rubber ball. Okay, sue him, he's tossing it between the ground and the side of the building and catching it. He's pretty focused on it for the time being. On a different day, he's sitting in the grass, book in hand reading. Does the guy ever stop?]

[ Ohhh god. Okay. Breathe, Peter. Don't freak out. ]

But - okay, then how did you get here? Did you get out alive or are you a zombie right now?

[tadeadshi]

Alive and well, thanks.

[Well. He holds one hand out, palm up and casual.]

All the different tech and experiments in there, a the explosion happened just... [As he talks, the air around his hand gradually gets warmer and there's a little bit of flame slowly forming at his palm.] Helped me get out. And I was brought here.

[ Peter leans in curiously. Keeping far enough away from the flame to be safe, but definitely staring at it. And Tadashi. ]

But that was a year - [ Shit, wait, he has to add back in the year he was dead. ] - two years ago. Right?

[tadeadshi]

Yeah.

[He moves his fingers and the flame jumps from one finger to the next. Tadashi's eyes are focused on it.]

Two years ago.

[ It's pretty cool, he's not gonna lie. ]

And they don't know at all.

[tadeadshi]

[He's been trying to spend his spare time outside of class and lab work on practicing, making sure he knows how to use and control it.]

No. They don't know at all. They can't.

By the time I realized what had happened after I recovered, they'd already buried 'me'.

[ God. Gooood. he looks stricken, but not entirely for the reasons Tadashi might think. ]

That's horrible.

[tadeadshi]

[With that, Tadashi closes his fist and extinguishes the flame.]

There isn't much to do about it. I'm alive, and I'm here. [He smiles at Peter, but it clearly isn't reaching his eyes.] It's worked out here.

[ Peter specifically doesn't look super comforted by that. Not at all. ]

And you've been here for two years, right? And - not gone home at all.

[tadeadshi]

That's right. [He nods. Then leans back in his seat a bit to look out the window.]

The campus is all right, and the city is nice for some scenery change. [But it's not home.]

Yeah, well, that only holds up for so long. It's not home.

[tadeadshi]

...It is for me now.

[It's what he's had to tell himself for two years, Peter.]

[ Noooo he hates it. He hates it already.

Also it takes every ounce of his self control not to immediately blurt out he's dead. ]

[tadeadshi]

[Huh. He figured with Peter texting Aunt May that maybe he was fine back home, but maybe Peter isn't.]

...Yeah. We can both work on that.

[ No he's fine back home, what are you talking about. He's being very subtle right now. ]

Right. You can show me around and stuff. I've only been here a couple months so I've barely scratched the surface.
