SPRING BREAK - MARSEILLE

SPRING BREAK - MARSEILLE
Log Comm | Network Comm | OOC Comm | Navigation
With the end of finals and the (hopeful) release of all the related stressors, the university offers all students a chance for a little R&R. In this case, with the end of Winter Quarter and the beginning of Spring Break, all students are all given fully paid leave to return to their hometowns if desired and visit their families. In addition, students will have the opportunity to take an all-expenses-paid trip to a fun locale to spend their break.
This year, Spring Break is in Provence. Students will stay in the city of Marseille for the duration, and will be able to explore the city and take part in a number of events around the city. Students will be staying at the Intercontinental Marseille - Hotel Dieu, with all meals provided and a number of tickets for entertainment available. While it is a bit on the cooler side to enjoy the legendary beaches of Provence, the arts scene, food and drink should more than make up for it.
This log is completely open for students and any accompanying faculty to navigate as they please. The hotel is a five-star operation that the school has rented out which means the amenities are lavish and the food is top-notch. Any events in and around the city students are able to attend, their admittance covered entirely by the school.
This log can also be used to cover any personal spring break activities, regardless of whether they're in Marseille or not.

Squeaky door? Why, he'd fix that for you. Need time to mark all two hundred and fifty of those exams? Well, hey, slide them right over! Sure he could tutor you and six of your friends! And in lieu of that, you could catch him working on finally "fixing" that broken guitar with the sort of half-focus and manic pace that suggests he might jump if anyone were to say something.
But now the day (the evening rather) is here and the dorms are slowly emptying and it's so quiet. He almost wants to run off into town to find someone there but he's still not quite at a level of feeling comfortable downtown alone again. He's got no idea how he'll distract himself for a week but in the moment, there's at least still a few stragglers, so, despite being a man with a cane, he's quick to offer help with any luggage that needs carrying along with a (probably) overly cheery, "Need a hand there? Looks like you could use it!"
Of course, if it's particularly late, one might just catch him instead sprawled in a chair with a book over his face. But it's fine. He's fine.
no subject
But he finds him at last, at rest, and gently nudges the book off his face, peering down at him.
"Busy day?"
no subject
Which means when Ekkehardt lifts the book on his face, he's not greeted with a tired expression but instead the sort of deep drown of someone with a particularly difficult puzzle. Or a child who's been told they're grounded.
He quickly forces a smile. "Me? Ahah, nooo, no, no, not at all." A pause. "Why? Do you have something I could do?"
no subject
I'm going back home, to the Outlands. Since you're so interested in my family, I thought I'd offer to take you along."
no subject
"You want me to meet your family?" He starts, and he does sound interested. But then he pales. "In... the Outlands..." His jaw works, voice muted temporarily. His hands wind together, fidgeting.
"Uh... are you sure that's a good idea? For me?" His fear is pretty obvious now. Even when he laughs again. "I mean, who wants to introduce me to their family? I'm sure there's somebody here who's way cooler than I am."

She simply walked into the common room to see if there was anyone still left, not expecting to find Héctor of all people. But he did have a book on his face. ...Was he asleep? Despite sometimes meeting out here every night, she's pretty sure she's actually never seen him sleep before.
"..."
Just going to inch over reeeaaally close. If he was awake then she'll probably see some movement. But if not, don't want to be too loud about it.
no subject
But right now, there's a little girl tip-toeing oh so quiet. So he says from under the book, "Puella."
He proceeds to sit up properly, lifting the thing off his face so he can give her a look. And then frown. She's kind of young to be staying here over the break... "Are you not going home?"
no subject
How did he know it was her...
"Not until tomorrow."
no subject
"Oh." Okay, good. So she did have a family. "... I guess that means it's just you, me, and the stragglers for now then. Did you need any help with anything or...?"

OTA | SPRING BREAK IN MARSEILLE
Gongenzaka is a simple sort. Even just adapting to the sort of facilities Daybreak offered took him some time when he was first enrolled; but now that it's the first he's turned down the invitation to go home, he's caved to peer pressure enough to see what the fuss of the holidays are about. Or at least...Spring Break Vacation.
It's always different of course- but if he thought it would be difficult to distract himself from the thoughts about his grandfather with regard to recent events, he had another thing coming. Gongenzaka is already stunned enough just at the entrance of the hotel- it looks like a small palace after all. Certainly, hotels that are even grander exist but...
"A...Auh..."
This. This is overwhelming, to be frank.
Gongenzaka's gobsmacked expression is the same wherever he is- In the Hall, looking into the room he's to be staying in for the vacation. At the Dining Table of the restaraunt in-house, where the sheer decor of the place is enough to make the food seem that much more impressive as it comes to his seat (or the seats of those with him).
And eventually, he's just left making the same expression as the breeze blows in from his opened balcony door, leaving the very odd image of a Bear on a Bed. (Good thing no one's about to jump onto his balcony though....right?)
This is all just extremely opulent, and he needs to make sure he takes pictures so that Yuuya doesn't destroy him after the vacation.
[MARSEILLE (PROMPTS IN BOLD)]
After all the stress that came just before Spring Break, Gongenzaka was told very firmly by his best friend (and a few other friends, quite likely), to relax. Which naturally got him extremely distressed when he assumed they meant to simply abandon his exercises (they did not mean to abandon his exercises).
The instructions are simple; take lots of pictures, don't do more than the required homework assignments, and by god, just Enjoy himself.
Which is exactly why about 50% of the pictures Gongenzaka takes are going to be of, and at, Museums. He's smiling at least, no matter the building, but surely there are other places to take a look at right? ...Yes?
Apparently there is...At Night. In the evening, a certain bear can be spotted wandering the trails of the Calanques- the national park around Marseille. What do you mean he could be spotted? Of course he won't- he can smell someone from a mile away.
...What about you? Don't worry about it, you smell like Daybreak of course. So come and enjoy the hike with a Bear, ok?
OTA | CAMPUS & MARSEILLE PROMPTS
Reira, unlike many, can be seen on the campus for the first day and a bit of Spring Break. In fact, she almost goes into the classroom she'd be visiting on any other school day at on point- only to find it quite empty.
In fact a lot of places seem fairly empty, she notices quickly enough. It's all very strange. After a while, the campus itself isn't enough for wandering around- the rest of Soleil can watch as the young girl walks around in search of any other students.
Eventually- whether in the dorms, the campus, or the city itself- she's bound to recognize someone enough to walk over with her Big Question.
"....Where did everyone go..?"
Did something happen she Knew it, she KNEW something was going to happen,
[MARSEILLE VACATION | PROMPTS IN BOLD]
As it turns out, 'everyone' went on a 'vacation', whatever that means. As best Reira can figure out, it has something to do with taking time to do something that isn't school things, in a place that isn't the school. Which seems easy enough to do whenever, so she's pretty sure she's missing something.
Regardless, it doesn't mean she isn't enjoying things in her probably-not-intended-to-be-unsupervised time. Getting Around is a lot easier than one would think, and Reira seems to enjoy the journey quite a lot. Not only the plane to Marseille itself, but the tram that spans various parts of the city; the ferries that go back and forth throughout the day; or even, well...just foot travel if anything. Which is possibly a little upsetting when the one wandering around is a young child who can't speak a lick of French.
Language would probably be very helpful while Shopping, actually- though fortunately she behaves herself well enough inside the little gift and tourist shops that no one's really told her off yet. In particular, she seems drawn to the ones a little closer to the 'otherworldly' side of things. Not overtly so, mind...just the subtle end. It makes sense; a particularly famous form of tarot card set came from Marseille, and needless to say a tarot set is exactly what has caught Reira's attention in more than one store.
Well, that and some local Santons. They're just neat.
But Reira still has a curfew to keep in mind, and its one she's doing well to uphold. So when the time comes, she goes back to the Hotel to sit down for each meal with fellow vacationers, before eventually settling back into the fairly nice hotel room they've been given.
She's particularly fond of the balcony. Actually, most of the evenings she'll be spotted leaning well over it, waving at anyone she vaguely (or properly) recognizes from the school.
(...Should she be leaning that far??? ...It's probably fine.)
Re: OTA | CAMPUS & MARSEILLE PROMPTS
For now, however, the only thing of note seems to be a door set into one of the side walls. Despite it's location, it does not lead to the next room over. Where it does lead is down a luminescent cave tunnel that opens out into what seems to be a clearing.
no subject
A tunnel is a perfectly normal thing to have in a wall, she thinks, so Reira will be going down. Reaching the clearing isn't making this any better however- so far she Still sees no one here!
The child huffs. "...where did everyone go..."
no subject
no subject
This is of course a fool's errand, but she does what she can. They're nice enough after all, and Most Deserving of the pets she decides.

So the fact that Mal is stealing has certainly passed her notice already.
But the other social issue of the day is...magic. Was she told to keep the sprites in the bracelets? Yes, but she assumes this is because they might try chewing Things. What do you mean magic isn't allowed in public. What IS public, for that matter?
It's a mystery, so naturally she's going to follow the magic when she does notice it actually happening Anywhere. Mostly in slight wisps of green smoke that haven't quite disappeared yet.
You have a small stalker in Daybreak Uniform, Mal, and she's behind one of the shelves- staring.
B.
So Mal's gonna find herself face to face with a dude dressed in all black like some emo kid who accidentally stumbled outside and found himself in a tourist trap in Marseille.]
This crap even worth getting caught over?

[ You know what every hotel has? The rack with recommendation for tourist attractions and, well, tourist traps. James has taken one of every single flyer and spread them out on a lobby table, a notepad and pen in his hands. Is he making a timetable..? He is. This is Ultimate Efficiency Vacation Planning. Most of the destinations he's put on the list so far are cultural sites and museums.
Anyone from Daybreak coming by will get a little wave. ]
Hey, you interested in some city trips? The more the merrier!
b) beach
[ However, as nice as culture is, so is getting a really sweet tan. In the afternoons, James most often can be found on the beach - sunbathing, swimming, maybe looking for some partners in volleyball. He's the perfect beach boy!! Or so he thinks. This is also why he takes great care to never let his hair get wet and thus ruin the hairstyle. ]
b.
Woops.
[Judging from the way he's grinning, it's hard to tell if this was actually an accident.]

--what the?!
[ Yeah, that's a ball hitting him unexpected and making him sit up so fast that his glasses slip down his face gracelessly.
At least that treats him to an unobscured view of Keith in swim-clothes. Not that that matters. ]
Keith!

C'mon. Get up.

You're challenging me?
[ Which he is absolutely down for, but it's a little shocking how much they've gotten to be on better terms in so little time. ]

[Akechi doesn't get to go on vacation often, and it shows...much like it shows that he comes from a poor background. As soon as he steps into the lobby of the hotel and realizes just what kind of place he's staying at, he has a moment of dizziness. He ends up having to sit down for a moment, though he might address nearby students.]
Is...this what all school sponsored trips are like?
[On the Town]
[Eventually, he does get over his overwhelmed feeling. When he does, it's hard to contain his excitement about getting to visit a major cultural center of France. He spends a lot of time out and about (eventually with fancy nails), taking full advantage of the free tickets to events and all expenses paid food. Well, once he manages to get his hands on a cheap suit, anyway. He just feels a bit too out of place in these high class places in his usual clothing.]
[Spa & Gym]
[Of course, just because he's on vacation doesn't mean he should neglect his fitness! The gym provides a good place for him to burn off extra energy in the evenings, displaying an impressive degree of athleticism given his thin arms. And judging from the way he goes at the punching bag, he pretty clearly has some sort of martial arts training.
After working out comes relaxing. Free access to a spa is amazing, and he's taking full advantage. Though he's careful to never be shirtless around other students, they might find him relaxing in a chair with a face mask on, complete with cucumbers over his eyes. Or...wait, is he softly snoring? Maybe the excitement, exhaustion, and pampering have managed to put him to sleep.]
