With the start of May comes the beginning of Student Council Elections. Student Council election campaigns will run from the start of May through June, with the polls opening on the 1st of June and closing on the 30th. All student council candidates will be given a budget of €5,000 with which to conduct their campaign.
The Candidates are as follows:
President:
Kohaku Yuhara
Nana Daiba
Vice President:
James Griffin
Ernst Krause (NPC)
Treasurer
Adelaide Cooke
Evelyn Couture (NPC)
Secretary:
Rex Arany (Originally running as President but swapping over)
Lie Ren
All candidates will list out their core platform and values in the threads provided below. They will be free to campaign as much or as little as they want, and are open to manage their campaign however they wish so long as they aren’t breaking school rules, international or French law. Characters may not utilize any supernatural powers while campaigning.
Voting will be conducted in June, while the vote is ostensibly IC we will also hold OOC voting and limit to 1 vote per player per position. Characters who do not win their position will still have the opportunity to join the Student Council in the form of a cabinet. Characters running against NPC opponents will win their election automatically. The new student council will begin serving at the beginning of the new term in October.
This post is also an open mingle post, where candidates can give their opening speeches and start recruiting supporters.
You may use the template to fill out your information below if you wish, or you may free-form it or write it fully in character.

Candidate Profiles
Ernst Krause (NPC - Vice President Candidate)
Evelyn Couture (NPC - Treasurer Candidate)
Kohaku Yuhara (President Candidate)
Though she's not advertising it, she is only running because Rex said he was and she's mad at him.
Rex Arany (President Candidate for now)
He's also only running because he thinks it'll give him access to information and opportunities which may be useful to him and because a cosmic piece of jewellery told him to.
Nana Daiba (President Candidate)
She is running because she really wants to.
James Griffin (Vice President Candidate)
His campaign platform is based on efficiency as a highest goal. James vows to support the elected president in realizing their goals smoothly, and beyond that he's always looking to improve the learning experiences for everyone. His pet project idea is study groups to help everyone get to the same standards, regardless of when they entered magical society.
Lie Ren (Secretary Candidtate)
Being in the school has been his first formative education, having learned everything previously while traveling with various other Hunter groups for about 10 years. Because he's had so much travel and working with other people, he's quietly listened and absorbed a lot about how to best organize a team. He doesn't talk a lot, so being in such a public position might be odd. However, he'd been encouraged by his Hunter contacts to really embrace school life so that's what he'll do.

She cleared her throat as she looked out over the entire student body. At first she spoke quietly and slightly uncertainly, but she gained confidence as she went. She never quite stops almost imperceptibly halting every couple words, but you get the feeling that's less from nerves and more from her scanning the next sentence for swear words to edit out so she doesn't curse in front of the entire school.
"We're...kinda messed up. Magic and monsters doesn't really leave a lot of room for a kid to be a kid. We're looking at the end of the world and we're having to grow up very quickly. Everyone here either is or knows someone who's life was thrown into a blender by forces beyond their control. It's a big messed up situation made out of smaller but equally messed up situations.
We're not weak, though. We're tough as hell and we're getting tougher every day. We're looking out for each other, and the teachers are doing their best to help us through, but we're monster hunters and scholars and mages and, sometimes, monsters ourselves. We're not counselors.
As your president, I'm going to see to it that you can get what you need to make it through to tomorrow and get a little bit more ready. Whether that's legal advice about a tricky daemon contract, or how to reverse a weird fae enchantment, or even just a therapist to talk your stuff out with. We shouldn't have to figure this all out ourselves and if I get elected, I'll make sure that we don't have to!”

He spends a moment looking over the crowd, steely-eyed and wooden faced. Too late to start pretending he’s anything but gloomy now. He only speaks after placing a hand over his chest for a few seconds- not his heart, but the Hero Medal.
“I... never had somewhere to call home before I came here.” He lets that sink in before he goes further. “Nor did I ever think of myself as anything special. But since my arrival I have discovered I am far more capable than I once believed. It’s a curious sensation, to wish to protect one's home, but I find it is my only desire, these days.”
The smile that emerges is a delicate thing. He thinks it’s fake. It is not.
“The best way to support us as a whole is for each of us to achieve our greatest potential. In the face of almost certain demise, finding our greatest strengths and developing them to their utmost is crucial. To that end, I would endeavour to help us all achieve personal excellence, for each of us has our role to play and to perform them at our best benefits us all.”
He holds up his hands, turning them to link the fingers, palm to fingers.
“It takes strength to support another.”
His hands turn as if one is holding up the other.
“So we must all be strong, not only for our own sakes- not only for each other. But for the sake of the world itself.”
He did have more, but he just felt a stitch pop in his suit, and he wants to get off the stage before he hulks out.

"Good afternoon, everyone!" she said, as she stepped to the microphone. "My name is Nana Daiba, and I would like to be your next student council president."
She smiled, then ducked her head down into a short bow.
"I know that life at Daybreak can be challenging! I can't know the difficulties that everyone experiences. But, I would like to listen, and learn more, and help as many people as possible." Nana clasps her hands together. "I think Daybreak is a wonderful school, but I think there are things that we can do, as students, to make things better for ourselves and others.
"I would like to organize more field trips, so we can see more of the world -- and give opportunities for every student to see the world. I think we could also contribute to communities like Soleil and others, which have become a home away from home, with charity events... which would also be a lot of fun! I want to organize dances, date auctions, and bake sales to raise money for groups in Soleil and student body organizations!"
Nana takes a second to catch her breath. "I also want to use the student council to give a forum for students to come to, to talk to others about their problems... and work with the faculty and staff to find solutions. We have a wonderful school because we have so many wonderful people here.
"I would be very grateful if you elected me, and gave me the chance to work as hard as I possibly can for you!"

Good afternoon. My name is James Griffin, I'm an undergraduate student and I'd like to be your next student council vice president.
I have opted for this position, because we have a lot of capable people already running for president, and they'll need a stable council to support them in their goals. I'd like to be that helping hand and take over organizational duties to the best of my ability.
[ That's... a white lie, really. He's running for Vice, because he doesn't think he can win President and that's it. ]
However, that doesn't mean I'm without my own project ideas. One thing I have noticed since my arrival at Daybreak is that we all come here from vastly different circumstances. The level of knowledge we have isn't equal. Some of us have dealt with the Outlands all our lives, others never heard of them until only months ago. This can make classes feel more daunting than they have to be.
My proposition is to establish a network for exchanging knowledge and experiences in a leisurely setting, making new friends on the side. We all have something unique to us, something to offer to the others. A loose buddy-system is to the benefit of all and will instantly make our school more welcoming.
Less class time will be spent catching newbies up in turn, allowing us to prepare more efficiently for Nightfall.
Thank you for your attention.
[ He looks into the audience, then bows his head a little and steps of the stage. Smiles have still been neglected... ]

Unlike some other candidates, if he's nervous, he doesn't show it at all. He looks very calm. He's carrying what looks like an album of sorts. When it is his turn to speak, he might not be heard the first time until he tries again, raising his voice.]
My name is Lie Ren. You can call me Ren. This is the first school I've ever gone to in my whole life. It's been...eyeopening.
Most of my life I've spent learning from Hunters. Following them. Being looked after by anyone who cared. I hope someday I can do the same.
So it might be strange that I want to run for anything at all. But as a secretary, as I understand it, is to make sure that everything is recorded and nothing important is forgotten.
[He takes a little breath and holds up his album.]
In this book is the picture and name of every Hunter I've ever worked with. When it happened, how long we stayed together, when we parted and what they're up to now. There's a lot of entries that stop because...that's the nature of what happens to people who live this kind of life.
Maybe it doesn't seem like a lot, but I know how important it is to keep records. So please consider me as your secretary.
[He gives a polite bow to the audience and then leaves.]

Still seems like they're expecting her to make a speech. Which is fine. She can handle this.
She has a smile on her face as she approaches the podium, and she claps her hands together.]
Right, well - for those of you who don't know me, I'm Adelaide Cooke. I haven't been in attendance here very long, but I've been here long enough to know the school uses their funds for quite a few things. Field trips, missions, vacations - the school goes above and beyond to provide for us, and it needs a treasurer that will go above and beyond for them.
I'm good with numbers - maybe I'm not so good with this magic stuff, yet, but math I can do. I know I'll be able to keep track of where our money is going, and I'll find places to put it that will make your lives easier and better. I'll find where we're wasting money, and where we could put even more.
[She takes a breath to steady herself, before bowing her head.]
As your treasurer, I promise to make decisions with all of you in mind - because I'm here for all of you.
[And with that she steps down, exiting the stage. She feels kind of silly, but...mission accomplished?]

That was a very touching speech. I didn't expect anyone to get quite so genuine today.
