WHO: Toki, Adelaide, Nekane, Tsunade, + open
WHERE: various locations
WHEN: June (dates are arbitrary)
WHAT: friend date, conspiracy theories, therapy, shopping, confusion, Unchained/Rampage Plot (prompt 6)
WARNINGS: ***suicide attempt in prompt 6***, mental illness discussion, potential RNG seizure visions
CLOSED PROMPTS:
1; {Adelaide} - June 2nd, Aube 403
[Toki should have prearranged this, perhaps, but spur of the moment has always been more his speed. He carries a large basket, covered with a cloth, as well as a small cooler. He sets them down in the hallway outside Aube 403. It's late afternoon; it wouldn't do to take a vampire out during the middle of the day. Hopefully Adelaide has no plans for the evening; at least it's the weekend and she shouldn't have a class. He knocks on the door loudly.]
Adelaide~!
2; {Nekane} - June 4th, Nekane's office
[Toki has gathered all of his vision records. Three notebooks that were kept for the sole purpose of vision documentation, two notebooks generally used for classes that have vision notes interspersed throughout, printouts of old text files and sent messages, and a folder of printed photographs documenting other places he's written or drawn vision related information. There may some things missing that he'd completely forgotten about, but it's a thorough, if somewhat incomprehensible, record. As per faculty suggestion, he's come to Nekane's office to discuss his apparent misinterpretations and "conspiracies". He hesitantly knocks on the office door with no enthusiasm.]
3; {Tsunade} - June 17th, Tsunade's office
Also open to Ekkehardt, Hieke, and Lin, as any staff members who received this information are welcome to run with it for a wildcard option.
[As recommended by the faculty, Toki's mandatory therapy component of his disciplinary action verdict has been outsourced. The therapists on staff at the academy found themselves ill-equipped to provide sufficient care to the extent that was needed. Toki has been seeing a psychologist (Dr. Louise Katzenberg) and a psychiatrist (Dr. Etienne LeBlanc) at the hospital in Soleil. Sessions have been long and numerous, and he experienced several breakdowns while in their offices; something which did not work in his favor, and he has been kept at the hospital overnight on more than one occasion. After a thorough review of past behavioral accounts provided, and personal interactions and observations, a tentative diagnosis of several co-morbid illnesses has been recorded, and recommendations made in accordance. This information is now being shared with the academy therapists, counselors, and medical staff.
The doctors have made their diagnoses as follows:
paranoid schizophrenia
panic disorder
dissociative identity disorder spectrum
acute episodes of psychosis and mania
They believe Toki is a danger to himself and others in no uncertain terms. They feel his poor decisions and life choices stem from consistent incorrect perceptions of persecution and suspicion, that his impulsiveness and pressured speech are manifestations of a constant internal state of panic and anxiety. Though he has shown no distinct separate personality, they suggest it is only inevitable with his level of dissociation from reality and should be dealt with before there is a complete break in his psyche. They have noted repeated instances of brief psychosis and manic displays, and believe these can be significantly curbed with correct medications and continued psychotherapy. Behavioral correction is discussed as a future treatment should he make sufficient improvement.
Seven medications have been listed and prescribed. Six from the categories of anti-psychotics, sedatives, and mood stabilizers; the combination of which has been determined to have the least potential for negative interaction with each other. The seventh is an anti-convulsive for frequent seizure activity. Further recommendations include: the use of physical restraints and/or tranquilizers during any periods of acute psychosis and mania in which there is concern for safety, as well as consideration of a wheelchair should seizures remain uncontrolled with medication. Medications are to be left in the academy infirmary, as the doctors feel Toki is not capable of keeping a schedule, nor do they think he will comply if given any choice in the matter. There is a note beside this section in the report which states the academy should pursue legal action to declare Toki incompetent and thus restrict any medical and legal say he may have in the future. They have contacted his parents, who were unaware of his presence at the school, and were adamant that they were not his guardians and it was not their problem.
Toki was allowed to see the report, and he disagreed with the majority of it; absolutely livid by the time he finished reading it, even though he didn't completely understand everything. It resulted in screaming and accusations, which the doctors used as an example of paranoia and made a note of his reaction in an addendum, along with a statement that there is a place for him in the psychiatric wing of the hospital should the academy choose to leave his treatment solely to them.
Now, Toki's back at the academy after the report has been distributed. He waits impatiently in the comfortable chair in Tsunade's office while she reads through it all. It's taking all of his concentration not to scream.]

5; Quad - June 24th
[Around mid-day, Toki wanders the courtyard in the quad. He doesn't know where he's going, and only has a vague sense of where he came from. His jeans are covered in dirt and grass stains. His bare feet are also dirty, and bleeding in some places. He has no shirt on; his collarbones and ribs very prominent and his skin pale enough to be somewhat translucent in places. He's covered in scratches, some small and some longer; most are shallow, but a few bleed. Down the sides of both arms and across his abdomen are sloppy drawings in black marker; all of them either eyes by themselves or the Herald's face with vague and incomplete expressions. The occasional "It's watching!" or "They're coming!" is scrawled in Japanese along side the images. Dirt is caked under his fingernails and a couple of them are jagged and torn. He waves and smiles at anyone who passes by. There is nothing wrong here.]
6; Legionnaire Quarters - Pool - June 30th
***cw: suicide (unchained plot)***
[He's not allowed to swim, and he's never had the desire to do so here, but for some reason Toki enters the Legionnaire Quarters today and heads directly for the pool. He's completely dressed, did not bring a bathing suit, and has no intention of using the pool for recreation. He has another purpose. Today, it all became too much for him and he snapped; not a breakdown so much as an epiphany; a euphoria achieved once he made this decision. Escape. An end to it all. No more suffering.
He says nothing to anyone on his way through the building. He doesn't wave or smile at people around; doesn't seem to notice them. They don't matter. Nothing matters but this. Entering the room housing the Olympic sized swimming pool, Toki continues to take no notice of anyone in the vicinity. He strides directly the pool and jumps in. Expelling all the air in his lungs, he sinks to the bottom to sit there, almost peacefully. There's no conscious hesitation as he inhales the water, only the body's physical reaction of trying to save itself from death; choking and gasping and only bringing in more water. His lungs burn and then he feels nothing.]

Kano was my friend, but I thought maybe... maybe he was bad for me, you know!? I said I was worse with him, but it's not true! Just because things are real doesn't mean they're better!
[It probably doesn't make sense to Kido. Toki can't handle the real world anymore, but he's already discarded his only escape.]
no subject
He— If you guys fought, you can always make up again, can't you? Play with him on some days, stay away on other days, when he gets to be too much... that's fine too, isn't it?
no subject
[He doesn't trust himself to limit contact with Kano. It has to be all or nothing. The marker's drying up and he tosses it aside.]
Do you want to get me some paint!?
no subject
I'll go if you go. You're going to run out of space here, anyways.
no subject
No. It's too far.
[He tries digging into the wall with thumbnail.]
no subject
[ Stop that, stop that, Kido grabs Toki's wrist and holds it firmly away from the wall. ]
All this stuff's going to get washed off, you know? Didn't you want pictures so you'd have concrete proof? We can go upstairs and find paint and a canvas, and you can have something to draw on that you can keep forever.
no subject
Okay.
no subject
Okay. Up you go- walk in front of me.
[ So she can make sure he's actually going this time, but she can also make him march at gunpoint if it absolutely comes to it. ]

He's in a room somewhere. Every wall is striped in a myriad of colors; the lines seeming to scroll up continuously like a neon sign. There's laughter; the same that's heard so many times. Small holes open up in the walls, stark black against the neon. From each one emerges tentacles. They're small and thick, grabbing the sides of the holes and pulling to wriggle the rest of their bodies through. The creatures drop down to the floor one by one. A series of tentacles and the body is no more than a large eyeball atop a mouth full of sharp teeth, dripping slime. The eyes are the same that he always sees, red irises. They all laugh, a collective echoing noise. Soon the floor and the walls are covered with the creatures. They sprout ornate butterfly wings; eye patterns on them.
... The room is suddenly the basement again. It's dark with a red glow. He looks at the floor and the walls, to make sure they're all gone.]

[ Kido has her hand up, but whether that's to snap her fingers to break him out of the spell, or to reach for his hand or what, it doesn't matter. His eyes refocus again and Kido hides her hands back in her pockets, chewing at her bottom lip as she stares at Toki for a few more seconds. ]
You alright? Was it the same eyes?
no subject
[His hand is already moving, drawing it in the air.]
It was a different form.
[It's important that he gets all the details. He can't be wrong. He's supposed to know.]
no subject
[ Kido turns around and walks away, and it takes her ten seconds to get back instead of two, but she does come back and she's exchanged the original camera for a smaller digital one, which she turns on and starts the video recording, pointing the camera at Toki's face. ]
You don't have to draw it. Explain to me what you saw. Saying the words out loud will help you understand and process too.
no subject
It's way harder to explain it and all the details!
[But after a frustrated sigh, he attempts an explanation.]
I was in a room, like a regular sized room I guess, not too big or anything and there were no doors or windows, so it could have been a box or something, but let's just go with room for now and the walls were like, you know how with old televisions there's like this thing where it's all static-y but like lines moving up constantly like a horizontal stripe moving vertically!? It was like that and they were all a bunch of rainbow colors and really bright! I hear laughter from somewhere and it's the same voice that I always hear when it laughs with the eyes, so I know it's the same thing even though I didn't really see the face this time or just eyes! After that, on the walls, which are still like moving lines, there's some holes appearing like little portals of pitch black I guess and you can't see into them or know where they go! There's like these little tentacle things, but they don't have suction cups, and they sort of reach out of the holes like fingers and try to make them bigger maybe and pull the rest of themselves through and there's a lot of them and they're little weird creatures with tentacle legs and no bodies and one giant eyeball on top and huge mouths with sharp teeth and slime! The eyes are all the same and they're the same ones I always see only they're part of these weird things here! Then they all start laughing and it's the same voice, only from everywhere! More and more keep coming and laughing and then they grow wings! Butterfly wings with more eyes on them; and I've seen the butterflies before but never attached to these things with the tentacles!
no subject
She waits until he's done talking before ending the recording and lowering the camera. ]
I... can't even begin to guess what any of that means. But I still think it's better to explain with all the details. By drawing, you're limited by your artistic ability. Words are clearer, more detailed. There's a sense of atmosphere and feeling, too, that a picture can't portray well.
[ But this is also two in one day... More than two— she'd first come across Toki absolutely covered in the eyes, so he must have had a lot more already during the morning. ]
How often are you seeing these things?
[ Way too much. Kano used to be able to hang out with Toki and be lucky if he only had just the one vision. ]
no subject
[A library of video files of him babbling about visions would go over so well.]
Seeing the eyes? Like I don't know, two or three times a day now and I dream about them every time I sleep, which isn't much because I always wake up, and sometimes when I just close my eyes, they're there! But like visions in general, maybe twice as much as the eyes alone? I don't know, it's just all the time. It's all the time!
[It's gotten to the point he's lucky if he can make it through any conversation, any attempt at some activity, without being sidelined by a vision, or two.]
no subject
Recording it might help? Something like this seems like it'd need time and work to understand, so it not making sense to people isn't your fault.
[ But it just sucks, having to live like this, and Toki doesn't even get a break when he's asleep. Hm, hmm... ]
Do you feel like you get more visions, or more vivid ones, when you're very stressed versus when you're not?
[ Is Toki... never not stressed... ]
no subject
I guess I can try it! I thought about making a blog once, back before- before I had so many of them, but maybe I'll just keep recordings instead!
[That question is hard to answer. There's been no pattern to how vivid they are, and the only thing he can pinpoint as far as having them more often is the orichalcum.]
I don't know if stress has anything to do with it, and I really don't think so! Because I'm not as scared by them as I was when I first starting having visions and so that's like less stressed, right!? In March I did something stupid and made a bracelet out of orichalcum and it backfired kind of; I had so many visions at once, like they were waiting in line for the channel to open back up... I think I did a lot of damage there somehow... It'll get better!
[He still holds on to that; that it won't get worse anyway. A long vision not accompanied by convulsions is a massive improvement at this point. Whether his brain is re-aligning itself after the orichalcum fiasco finally, or it's just the medication; he doesn't know. The former would be better.]
no subject
[ Maybe somebody smarter will see it, and be able to help more. ]
Has anything helped things be less... [ just. less in general ] or you really think it'll get better in time? Or at least go back to how it was before.
no subject
No, nothing's helped, and I don't know?
[Jail said sometimes it takes a while to adjust and become a pattern or a consistent thing that happens. But Jail also destroyed her lungs using her powers and she still uses them. On purpose. So she may not be the best person to discuss that part with.]
no subject
Mm... Well. [ All Kido has to offer are platitudes, with no real idea of how to help or whether she's even qualified to help- whether this is just another step in ruining Toki's life forever. ]
There must be case reports of similar experiences throughout history. I'll take a close look, and see what I can dig up.
no subject
There's a few mentioned in the library; the Seer memoirs and accounts and things.
[He's done a little research, but was ultimately discouraged after finding not much that was helpful. Though the accounts in general were hard to understand sometimes, and direct translations of the languages they were recorded in left much to be desired.]
no subject
I'll take a look there, and some others. If there's any information out there... I'll find it.
[ Kano's always been good for that, digging into topics he shouldn't, casting a wide net of an information network, possessing dogged persistence when it comes to something he can potentially help with and especially when it has nothing to do with himself.
For the briefest of moments, there's a slight smile on Kido's face, and then it's gone. She gestures back to the stairs. ]
For now, though, let's get you that paint.
[ She just doesn't want to get caught out here in the hall and be made to wash everything off the walls. ]
no subject
[Toki slowly ascends the stairs, just in case; holding too tightly to the railing. There are no incidents, however, and he's cleared the basement successfully. A small victory. He looks down either end of the hallway.]
Uhh... which way is the art stuff?
no subject
Down over here, where they put together props. Follow me.
[ Down this hall, etc etc, Kido at least seems to know what she's doing, and where she's going. There are plenty of studios around, but she leads him to one of the empty ones— it's a bit dusty in here, and the light switch doesn't work, so she has to go over to the windows and draw open the curtains.
Poster paper. Watercolors. Acrylics. Go wild, Toki. ]
no subject
Thank you~!
[He finds a large framed canvas to start with, and acrylic paints. Instead of setting the canvas on an easel, he's set it on the floor to kneel over and paint, with his fingers instead of a brush. He begins with the bright blue tentacles of the creatures from the last vision. The mouth is red and dripping yellow slime, the eyeball most prominent. Black instead of white, with a red iris, mixed with teal behind it; like it has been punctured and covered in blood. After that, the background of the canvas is filled in with eyes over messy streaks of violet, fuchsia, and lime.]
