[It's the middle of the morning by the time Yuya finally makes it back to campus, after having completely disappeared and refused contact since the 16th. Gongenzaka found him first, and he left Odd Eyes outside as they trudged up to his room to change out of smelly clothes and talk.

Later, though, he's out sitting on a bench on the path between the Lumiere dorms and the class buildings, staring down at his phone in his hand. He's answering people again, he's sure he worried his friends. He doesn't know how to go up to all of them, though, and apologize for... this.

He's not hiding anymore, at least, but it's a weight that's hard to push past. But at least he's come back.]

[Relaxation | July 24-31]

[And in the next few days his world doesn't end, so he starts to find some hope that things will be okay for now. He'd already intended to go along with the school trip to the Azores Islands later in the month, and ultimately he decides to hold himself to that. That's the real benefit of a luxury school, isn't it? All expense vacations.

It really is beautiful. His worries aren't exactly lifted, and the night laying in bed are so hard, but he can put on a braver smile during the day as he hikes through the forests, swims in the lake, runs along the sand and soaks up the sun. He can't hide his scars all the time in this instance. Not the dozens of long, jagged ones that drag down his whole back or the thin, straight one on his chest over his heart. But he doesn't acknowledge them if nobody asks or stares too openly. Just so he doesn't invite questions he doesn't want to answer.

He is, otherwise, being more sociable than before he left. Maybe find some watermelons to smash open...]

[But he probably has to face her, so... he goes to the infirmary as asked, looking hesitant as he slinks around for Serena.]

[Serena is resting in a bed, her right arm in a sling. Cat Dancer is cradled around the broken arm, purring softly.]

Hello, Yuya. Before anything, I just want to say this: I only found out you had a connection to Zarc weeks after I met you.

[Oh, did he do that? Yuya flinches.]

Oh. How...? [How did Nightwatch know? He had only been figuring it out recently with Valvatorez.]

I don't know. All Augustine said was that he "had suspicions," and at this point I'm almost certain that the mission he sent me on wasn't sanctioned by Nightwatch's higher-ups.

[But someone still knows.] Have you told him?

[Does Yuya have to expect them coming after him?]

Not him, no. Augustine is a man I respect very much, but I don't trust him to remain objective when it comes to Zarc. I have, however, told someone else. I'm sorry, but this is the sort of thing they need to know. Francisca, however, I know will handle it with grace. At the very least, you won't have anyone out for your head or trying to lock you up.

Valvatorez and Gongenzaka | July 22

[Well... they agreed to go, so during the day when Yuya expects Valvatorez may be around his office, he and Gongenzaka go and knock upon the door.]

Professor Valvatorez?

[They agreed, even if it's a bit late. Gongenzaka finds at least that if he focuses on things like this, he can just...not think about the conversation they had on the 20th.

It's better that way, probably, and...

He cuts his thoughts there, focusing on the office and hoping Valvatorez is in.

And also, more slightly, that Valvatorez does not mention that thing he did in the Herald fight.]

[Fortunately, Valvatorez kept his hours as promised; even with the summer classes and large numbers of students away, if he had hours marked on his schedule, he was there.]

Ah yes, come in Yuya.

[And then he notices when he turns toward the door, that Gon was with him as well. ....Okay, this was different. He figured he'd play this one a little safe. He didn't know for sure if Gon knew anything about what he an Yuya had been discussing, so in the interest of keeping privacy, he kept things close to the vest for now.]

Ah, and Gongenzaka as well. How may I help you both today?

[Yuya shuffles in, waiting for Gongenzaka to enter before firmly shutting the door behind them.] I was--I wanted to talk to you about the daemon in me.

[Zarc, probably, but he won't say the name and confirm it.]

[Gongenzaka nods, one part in confirmation, and another part greeting.] A...Aauh. Yuuya explained his own fears...

But, I realized...there could be something I myself learned, from a previous mission, which could be relevant...

[When the door shuts with a click, and when Yuya and Gon both introduce the topic, Valvatorez's demeanor shifts a bit. That serious look Yuya's seen before when the subject is broached returns in force, but he keeps himself from looking too dour.]

...I see. Very well.

[Instead of going over to his desk this time, he walked up to one of his bookshelves, pulling out a tome about daemons. He knew this one contained passages about Zarc.]

In truth, I've been doing some additional reading on the subject myself in light of our previous discussions. What did you both find out?

Ah -- Yuya!

[ ana hadn't personally texted him during his disappearance, but she had noticed he'd been...absent, lately. missing? maybe. she feels like she saw him less than usual though. so when she sees him again, she greets him with a smile. she's...a little concerned, though, because he's staring down at his phone and he doesn't look like himself. ]

I was wondering where you'd went. Is everything alright?

[Yuya peeks up at her.] Uh--yeah, sorry. I just needed some time to myself.

[He looks a little guilty for running off like that, though, rubbing his arm absently.] How are you?

[highelves]

No need to apologize. I'm just glad you're alright.

[ at his question, she hums a little in thought. ]

I'm doing quite alright. Relaxing, mostly. Are you doing okay?

[hippocarnival]

I--[He rakes his hand back through his hair and offers a brief smile.] Wasn't, but I'm feeling better. You don't have to worry.

I'm glad to hear that.

[ she smiles. she won't pry about what happened that prompted him to want to run away, but she's still a little concerned. ]

I apologize if I interrupted you. It's just nice to see you again.

No, you didn't interrupt anything. [Yuya waves a hand quickly.] I'm really sorry, I shouldn't have just... gone without saying anything like that. Um, it wasn't just you.

[He rubs the back of his neck, glancing down.] But thanks for checking up on me.

21st

[ He remembers Yuya, even though their first meeting had been brief. He'd been nice enough to answer Vivi's questions, even though he'd seemed sad.

So when he sees Yuya on campus, he's quick to catch up with him. He has some kind of package in hand. ]

Um -- excuse me! [ Did he ever get Yuya's name, probably not....... ]

Huh? [Yuya turns, looking around before he glances down. Ah, he recognizes him.] Oh, hi. What's up?

[alreadyhuman]

Um. Nothing, I guess? [ He glances up at the sky, briefly, on instinct. ] But...

You seemed kinda sad, and then you went away, and I was worried. So, um, I made you something. [ He holds out a small package, clumsily wrapped.

Inside are cookies with red and green frosting. Though Vivi's not really an artist by any means, he has made a token effort to make some of them look like Odd Eyes. ]

[... Aw. Yuya crouches to Vivi's level and gently takes the offered package. He doesn't open it quite yet, but he offers him a smile.]

Thanks, that's so nice... I don't think I caught your name before?

[ Oh, he seems to like it, even before opening it...that's good. ]

I'm Vivi. It's nice to meet you again!

[ He holds out a hand. Gotta handshake and be polite. ] What's your name?

I'm Yuya. [He reaches to shake Vivi's hand. What a cute kid.

He opens the bag, looking at the cookies before he fishes one out and takes a bite. Hopefully they taste ok or else Yuya is going to have to Lie.] They're good!
