[OPEN] TRUTH OR DARE PARTY AIN'T LIKE ANY OTHER PARTY

WHO: Sarona and everyone else. It's a free for all.
WHERE: Floor Lounge of Aube Dorm
WHEN: Late Night January 18th
WHAT: LATE NIGHT GAME PARTY. TRUTH OR DARE OR TRIPLE DOG STARE.
WARNINGS: HIJINKS. Language, kids doing stupid things for fun, possible light age-appropriate sexual content, but it should be warned for (keep it PG13 and below!)

Everyone should have received the mass IRIS message earlier that day:
One week down and more to go
Catch a zombie by the toe
If you're scared don't let it show
Dare to act or tell all you know

Join us for Truth or Dare in the communal lounge of Aube Floor 1.
Food and drinks will be provided, but there's always room for more.
Fun starts @ 8PM. Later you are, the harder the dares.

Anyone who decides to join in on the fun will find the communal lounge set up with couches, chairs, and tables placed around the edges, to make the center of the room open for people to move through. Subs, chips, a fruit and cheese platter, and unopened cans and bottles of soda and water on their own separate table. On another table is two unused fishbowls with strips of paper and pens next to them. On one fishbowl is written: Put name in bowl.

Sarona is going to wait until eight o'clock on the dot to start.

"So here's the rules. You ask 'Truth or Dare?' They answer 'Dare' or 'Truth.' Don't come up with anything that'll get the RAs on us, okay? You get one refusal, that's it. Otherwise you agreed to be here and you agreed to the game, don't chicken out on us."

And then she grabs the fish bowl and holds it up for everyone to see. "If you don't know who to pick when it's your turn, pick a name out of the jar. If you only call on your friends and/or enemies, you'll have to pick a name out of the jar. No breaking off into little groups. That's boring."

She sets it down and then gives a little grin, "Now let the fun begin."

{OOC: Have fun! Make your own prompts as the darer or the dared, etc, in the act of completing a dare or telling a truth, it's all good! This is a completely open log. Again, warn for any potential sexual content, violence, or disturbing content.}

Whenever there's an ominous someone involved, odds are good it's Peter. Which it is in this case, he totally dragged Rex here. Something something social experiment, testing limits, whatever. If it gets him here then Peter probably said it.

"What, no dares?" he says with a grin. He won't push Rex into a dare if he's uncomfortable, of course. He's just curious. "Why don't you wanna do one?"
heromedal: (I'll get you.)

[personal profile] heromedal 2019-01-21 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, this question at least falls into his calculations. He, of course, is not going to say because he hates such frivolous wastes of his time and energy or that he doesn't want to reveal his capabilities. The formally is only partially true and the latter is a stupid concern, but most of his concerns are.

"Too much effort," he replies. Pretty believable, considering he looks like he's about to keel over- but then again he's looked like for twelve years straight. "I don't have to move to tell the truth."

Or lie.

[personal profile] made_up_names 2019-01-21 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter can't lecture really; he's perpetually on half a night's sleep himself, so.

"I mean, I guess that's true," he says. "But then you gotta answer truthfully, right?"

That's the whole point of the game. And he has questions for you.
heromedal: (...)

[personal profile] heromedal 2019-01-21 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Half a night? Full tank for Rex.

"I can't think of much I have to hide," he lies once and follows it up with one ten times as big. "And I trust you not to ask things I would not wish to share."

He actually feels a little guilty at the hugeness of that lie. Peter seems a good guy... but Rex doesn't trust anyone. Faking it is just the easiest way to get real trust back.

"And besides, you've now just asked two questions- I'd say that means I'm owed a turn of my own."

Also, he cheats.
made_up_names: (yeah. right. no.)

[personal profile] made_up_names 2019-01-21 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh don't worry, Peter will still ask stupid shit. He will just also be polite and accept bullshit answers too.

Though for that response he makes a face. "Dude, come on," he says. "I didn't actually ask anything important."

He'll do it, of course. But.
heromedal: (yeah sure)

[personal profile] heromedal 2019-01-22 11:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Was there a rule about the questions having to be important?" Rex asks with a tilt of his head, apparently asking entirely earnestly. Of course, it's nothing of the sort- he wouldn't enter a game without thoroughly studying all the rules (how else would he subtly break them?). But he's banking on the idea won't take advantage of poor, socially awkward Rex. Look at his sad, tired face, Peter. Will you cheat him out of his turn after you took two in a row?
made_up_names: (eyeballs)

[personal profile] made_up_names 2019-01-22 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
Siiigh. Rex, you're the worst and he knows it. But he also can't say no to this face.

"Fine, fine," he says. "But I'm gonna ask better questions next time."
heromedal: (hmmmmmmmmm)

[personal profile] heromedal 2019-01-22 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"I look forward to the challenge," Rex replies without a single hint of his inner victory chime. Dun-nun-nun-nun-nah-nah-Nah. He does, however, pull a hand out of his pockets make a mildly dramatic (by his standards) point when he asks- "Now, however, is the time for you to make your choice. Truth. Or dare."
made_up_names: (badass)

[personal profile] made_up_names 2019-01-22 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm. That's a good question, actually. Peter feels like he'd get something interesting either way.

"Let's go with truth first," he says. "Next time I'll do a dare."
heromedal: (u wot m8)

[personal profile] heromedal 2019-01-22 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Drat. He'd actually planned to ask Peter why he didn't want to do a dare, before that second part came in. That would have been fun and funny, right? Like the thing Peter said. Get it? Now it's redundant.

Oh well. It's not like Rex doesn't have an internal list of questions. Of course, he suspects ones like 'whats your greatest weakness' or 'what's the tensile strength of your muscle matter' don't quite fit the spirit of the game. Even he can see that.

"Very well then," he says, with a nod. "What's the thing you least want to be asked in a game of truth or dare?"

He does not have a smile on his face, but somewhere in his heart there is a smirk.
made_up_names: (UHHHHHH)

[personal profile] made_up_names 2019-01-22 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Not quite in the spirit of the game, no, and also Peter would probably have to tell him some variation of "don't know." It's not like he had the resources to test all of this stuff before okay.

This too, gets kind of a confused look. Is there something he doesn't want to be asked? Oh yeah, for sure. Probably the instant he's asked one of those questions he'll instantly realize it. But he's having a hell of a time coming up with something that isn't super vague. "I dunno, I guess I wouldn't wanna tell any secrets?" He's thinking of a couple of friends he's currently trying to keep quiet about, mostly, though he has a few of his own. "Yeah, that'd be pretty bad."
heromedal: (sads)

[personal profile] heromedal 2019-01-23 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
They're very different people, Rex realises when he gets that answer. It's almost like Peter doesn't spend his time thinking about all the things he doesn't want people to know about him and listing them in order.

What kind of weird childhood did he have amirite?

It actually does help him relax a little. It means he's probably not planning anything harder to answer either.

"Hmm. Well, I was hoping for something juicier," his tone stays mostly deadpan but with that small quirk of an eyebrow which means he's probably trying his best to be playful. "But I guess there's no rule your answers have to be good."

"Dare," he answers an unanswered question. And again with- "I suppose I can put some effort in tonight."
made_up_names: (but in other news I like pizza)

[personal profile] made_up_names 2019-01-23 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
That's just rude Rex, come on. He sort of makes a face at that, a little put out? "I gave you the best answer I could, dude," he says. "Not a topic that usually keeps me up at night."

He'll just have to get him back with a dare. A really good dare. Uh. Hmm. As soon as he thinks of one.

"Go up to someone and give them this big sweeping kiss on the back of the hand," he says. "Randomly if you don't wanna pick someone." That oughta be fun to watch.
heromedal: (Come dancing with me.)

[personal profile] heromedal 2019-01-23 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
How is it possibly a topic that doesn't keep him up at night? Rex tips his head in mild confusion, partially at Peter's own expression and the concept of not worrying needlessly about one's vulnerabilities. It's all very odd, he didn't say anything overtly offensive he's sure.

But then he gets the dare and Peter gets to see the most energy out of Rex so far when he straightens up entirely, adding a few inches to his height which is reduced when he rocks back on his heels.

"Gurk." That odd guttural sound comes out in lieu of words, his hands coming out of his pockets to help him catch his balance and once he does he takes a moment to get his breath. And then in perfect, pokerfaced glumness as usual- "...You'll rue the day you did this to me, Peter Parker."

Which means he is gonna do it.

And then he did it!

Ha. He should probably feel bad for picking something he knows will make Rex uncomfortable, but at least he chose the gentlest possible form of it. Partially for Rex's partner's sake as much as anyone else's.

"Hey, that's what truth or dare's all about," he says, throwing up his hands. Totally not his fault. Couldn't be helped.

... Though, when he sees Rex is going to Maya, he's suddenly real glad he just asked for him to kiss a hand. Yeah. Uh. That could have gone worse.

When he makes his return, striding back with some intent he does his looming thing. He really doesn't mean to, he just big.

"You're going to apologise to that young lady when all this is over," he says, but quickly his calm demeanour cracks wide open and he goes red real quick. He's so pale it makes him practically glow red. "That was terrifying. Never make me do that again!"
made_up_names: (coy)

[personal profile] made_up_names 2019-01-25 11:57 am (UTC)(link)
And Peter smol, so. Yep. That checks out.

He opens his mouth to give Rex some shit for it - and. Pauses. Seeing how red he is. And frankly looking a bit guilty. Did he overdo it? Clearly he hit the nail on the head for making Rex do something uncomfortable. Just. Apparently he did too good of a job. "Okay, okay," he says. Lifting his hands in surrender. "I won't, promise. It's your turn to ask anyway, so."

If he wants revenge, he can have it.

[personal profile] heromedal 2019-01-25 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
At least he looks less freaked out panic attack, and more super duper embarrassed. Rex doesn't exactly think he's a cool guy, but man, anything even vaguely mushy shatters his calm demeanour. He's shocked he managed to keep it up in Maya's presence and is carefully making sure his back is to her for a bit. Uncomfortable maybe but not offended.

But still vengeful apparently.

"You're really going to get it now," he has another dramatic point. "Choose your method of demise."

He's playing. He actually is. At least you got him into the spirit, Pete.

Good job Peter?? Mission accomplished.

But yeah, he’s in for it now. Probably. As much as he is mostly okay with that, he. Uh. Thinks a dare might be dangerous! Very, very dangerous right now, and he just got a girl to ask him to the dance. Better not risk that immediately.

“Truth,” he says after a moment. “I think if I picked dare right now I’d probably regret everything.”
heromedal: (>:))

[personal profile] heromedal 2019-01-25 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"E-" Peter is granted the smallest hint as to what exactly Rex is doing to dare him to do when he gets the chance, with the single syllable revealing it at least starts 'e.' But Peter defies expectations by asking for a second truth.

Well, that falls within his calculations too, but he was really looking forward to that dare.

Without missing a bit, Rex leans in some more, his customised extra large personal bubble set aside for a moment. Of course, this means he's actually sort of. Hanging over Peter. It looks like the Grinch is picking on Max.

"What's the worst thing you've ever done?" Though he adds, with what would be playful on someone else's lips but sounds sadistic coming from his- "Aside from the dare you gave me."

If you were going to make him eat something, Rex, you might regret those results. Peter’s spider stomach is made of iron. Except when it comes to peppermint.

But - more importantly, it sure looks like Peter is regretting not taking dare just now. He pales at Rex’s question, suddenly hunched in on himself. He was expecting to be asked a secret - which this would be, as well, but he was going to try to deflect him with something else. Not. This. God. For a moment he’s tempted to ask Rex if he’s sure, does he really want to ask that? But after how embarrassed Rex was by Peter’s dare, he feels like he really doesn’t have any right to ask for mercy.

He’s still silent a moment more. Eyes cast down, loomed over by Rex. Thanks, Rex. Eventually, when it looks like he might not actually respond, he looks up finally to meet Rex’s gaze. “I killed my uncle,” he says. Voice soft. Eyes sliding away from Rex’s as soon as the words are out.

Rex's chronically low opinion of humanity had assumed that there would be something. But Peter seems a pretty good kid, which is very high praise from Rex. He was expecting that maybe he stole something or accidentally injured someone with those powers of his.

He works out that things will be darker than that very quickly and his own smile drops back to his neutral frown automatically. Oh. No no no. This is why he's not allowed at parties, he just drains the life out of everyone and everything and if he was even trying to be fun, to get involved. Looks like he should cut all that out. Look at Peter's face! He rescinds his loom, hands slipping into his pockets. It's an indication of how grim Rex's thoughts are naturally that he already thinks Peter is about to confess to murder.

Which is why he doesn't wince or widen his eyes. He doesn't say a word for a moment, once again showing that tell of his where he touches the beauty mark above his lip. Like it's a button to make thoughts. Eventually, he concludes-

"If you don't want to tell me more I understand," he replies as calm and composed as he usually is, the hot embarrassment of his prior dare cooled by the chilling revelation. He takes care to ensure it's not tentative when he puts one of his gnarly hands on Peter's shoulder. "But based on my knowledge of you as a person, I suspect I don't have all the pertinent information."

Frankly, he doesn't think Peter could actually kill someone. Not as he is. Not intentionally at least and that's hardly killing at all.

Peter has done both of those things - accidentally, on both counts - but it's sure not where his head goes. No, when Rex mentions the worst thing, of course it's Uncle Ben. There's nothing else it even could be.

He's not going to give Rex the whole story. No one on the planet has the whole story except Peter himself, and if Orihime and Héctor and Aunt May aren't getting it, Rex sure won't. But. He earns points for being calm first, and respectful of Peter's feelings second. Clearly he's not demanding answers, and that ... hell, that goes a long way with Peter.

"You don't," he admits after a moment. "I didn't - I didn't mean what happened. To him. But it still happened, and if I'd chosen differently, he'd be alive."

Not murdered in an alleyway by a lycan for the crime of searching for a missing nephew who refused to stay safe at night, despite them having fought just earlier that same day.
heromedal: (Is that so?)

[personal profile] heromedal 2019-01-25 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ah."

Rex manages to fit a huge amount of meaning in that little noise and accompanying, knowing nod. It's a sound of familiarity and acceptance, casually made. Apparently, Peter has said all needs Rex to hear. There's a lot he can extrapolate from the way he phrases it, giving that sense it wasn't an action exactly direct at his uncle. It's not a dark place that Rex visits often. It's where he lives. Rex's own brush with tangential responsibility for the death of a loved one is even less direct- merely by being someone his mother wanted to protect. Being a burden. But when does guilt have to be logical? When does anything to do with death?

Of course, the fact that the quiet unceremonious response goes a long way in explaining why exactly Rex is the way he is is intentional. Because even now, even hating himself for it, it seems a good way to trick more goodwill out of Peter. Same for his respectful manner. Forcing the issue would surely just cause him to retreat.

The fact a long howl in his heart just doesn't want to hurt Pete anymore is ignored.

"You've already told me more than I had the right to ask," he states it as fact. It really is. A guy like Peter shouldn't be talking to Rex at all, but life isn't fair is it?

He makes a soft sighing sound, "goosh". His fingers squeeze just a little bit on Peter's shoulder before coming away, slipping back into his pocket.

"...We can stop playing, if you like."
made_up_names: (a good boy)

[personal profile] made_up_names 2019-01-25 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Even if Peter ever does work through his responsibility for Ben's death - even if he finds peace on that front - that guilt is going to live with him forever. There's no drowning that little voice out with logic. If he'd come home sooner and not been angry about their fight. If they hadn't fought in the first place. If he'd listened to his uncle even before all of this happened...

Well, regardless of Rex's reasons, Peter appreciates Rex not forcing him to talk about it. He wasn't sure how Rex was going to react, honestly; quiet acceptance is about the best he can hope for. And if Rex just wants goodwill or doesn't want to hurt Pete, or some combination of both, that's fine too.

Anyway. It all got real heavy real fast, huh? He rubs at his neck after Rex lets go, looking up at him again. "What were you gonna dare me to do?" he asks. "You sound like you had something in mind."

Not. Necessarily offering to do it but. It's a peace offering? Not quite continuing the game.
