Lumiere 304 (Closed to Reira)
[Arriving and getting settled in would, hopefully, be a quick affair. Even if it's taking a bit for V to actually get to his new room himself, he's actually sent Shadow ahead to check out the room ahead of time--the panther can't talk, of course, so he can't actually greet V's new roommate, but he can sure slide under the door in shadow form to get a look around. And maybe claim the bed as his own for a while.]

Lumiere, Floor 3
[It seems the floor has a trio of new occupants! Usually the human member of the trio in all his deathly pale, heavily tattooed glory can be caught by himself, and he's friendly enough, if a bit quiet. Since classes haven't started, he's mostly spotted wandering to and from the library. Sometimes he can be found in the common room on the floor, accompanied by either a bird or...

Is that a fucking panther? Yes. Yes, it is. It's slinking around the floor. Laying on the couches in the common room. Just. Being the oversized cat it is. If Shadow fits, Shadow sits.]

Library
[Of course, V's most common haunt is the library. He can be found there for ridiculous stretches of time, buried into whatever books catch his interest. Which is a lot. There's mostly books on runes and magic, but there's also... a lot of William Blake books? Someone has a favorite. If he's at the shelves reaching for a book, he'll pause if someone else is reaching for it too.]

Ah--pardon me... did you need that?

[He'll retract his hand immediately, just in case.]

[That evening, there's a new post to the network!]
Good evening, everyone. I've just arrived today. You may call me V and I'll be serving as the teaching assistant for the literature classes. I'll be offering tutoring for anyone who requires it. Thank you for your time.

Library!

[Her previous visit to the library had been entirely just to look around. Now, a couple days later, Desidera pays it another visit, this time to pick out some books to read as a way to pass the time.

Already having a couple of her choices with her, while reaching to pull another book from its own shelf, she hears V's voice and immediately jerks her own hand back, clearly intending to not be in the way herself.]

Oh, no, it's fine, go— [Here's where she turns a bit to see who it is.] —oh! Hello again! But yes, if you wanted that one, go on ahead.

Ah, hello again yourself.

[V smiles, clearly recognizing her.]

If you're certain. I'll see to finishing it as quickly as possible, in that case.

[unlogic]

[She shakes her head at that.] There's no need to rush for my sake, I can wait however long I need to.

[A few moments pass with her looking back at the shelves again, but then she again turns to him.] Mm, it occurs to me that I never asked your name earlier. I do apologize for that. Mine is Desidera.

[He'll go ahead and add the book to his own selections, then turn back towards her when she speaks.]

Call me V. It's a pleasure to meet you.

[A single letter rather than a name? Well, she's sure there's some reason for that, but she doesn't necessarily need to know any of the particulars.

Normally she would let the other person lead the conversation—or let it end, if they so chose—but she's curious:] So, V, if I may ask, what sort of things do you like to read? Any particular subjects? [She's made no attempt yet to look and see what he's already selected, though 'magic' can be assumed to be at least part of the answer, considering the book they both had been reaching for.]

Magic, a bit of runecraft... [A pause.] I'm rather partial to poetry, as well.

[And he'll shift the books in his arms so she can see the William Blake anthology he's picked up.]

[Being given a chance to look, she glances over his selections and nods.]

Most of what I've read has been to do with magic, with the occasional fantasy novel. [One can practically hear air-quotes when she says that; all things considered, there could very well be a real-life inspiration for some of those.] Though, to be fair, the variety of things that were available to me at home was somewhat limited.

[He manages to restrain his chuckle at the nearly audible air-quotes.]

I see... my own reading material has been rather limited as well until recently.

My mother was never particularly interested in obtaining anything that was outside of her own interests, and I was generally not permitted to leave our home, so my options were mostly the sorts of things she would want to read for herself. It would be something of a waste if I didn't take the opportunity to look into something new while I'm here.

[Basically, if it looks even remotely interesting, no matter what it is, she'll probably give it a look.]

It certainly would.

[He chuckles, scanning the shelf before grabbing another and offering it.]

The selection here's quite extensive, so you've got plenty of reading to do, it seems.

[She accepts the offer without much thought at all, adding it to her own previous selections.]

Oh, I'm sure that I'll be spending a good deal of time here between my lessons. Perhaps not every moment of free time, but still quite a bit of it.

I imagine we'll be seeing a lot of each other in that case. And perhaps even more so if you're taking any of the literature classes.
