Lumiere 304 (Closed to Reira)
[Arriving and getting settled in would, hopefully, be a quick affair. Even if it's taking a bit for V to actually get to his new room himself, he's actually sent Shadow ahead to check out the room ahead of time--the panther can't talk, of course, so he can't actually greet V's new roommate, but he can sure slide under the door in shadow form to get a look around. And maybe claim the bed as his own for a while.]

Lumiere, Floor 3
[It seems the floor has a trio of new occupants! Usually the human member of the trio in all his deathly pale, heavily tattooed glory can be caught by himself, and he's friendly enough, if a bit quiet. Since classes haven't started, he's mostly spotted wandering to and from the library. Sometimes he can be found in the common room on the floor, accompanied by either a bird or...

Is that a fucking panther? Yes. Yes, it is. It's slinking around the floor. Laying on the couches in the common room. Just. Being the oversized cat it is. If Shadow fits, Shadow sits.]

Library
[Of course, V's most common haunt is the library. He can be found there for ridiculous stretches of time, buried into whatever books catch his interest. Which is a lot. There's mostly books on runes and magic, but there's also... a lot of William Blake books? Someone has a favorite. If he's at the shelves reaching for a book, he'll pause if someone else is reaching for it too.]

Ah--pardon me... did you need that?

[He'll retract his hand immediately, just in case.]

[That evening, there's a new post to the network!]
Good evening, everyone. I've just arrived today. You may call me V and I'll be serving as the teaching assistant for the literature classes. I'll be offering tutoring for anyone who requires it. Thank you for your time.

[Ultimately, Reira doesn't do much in this room. It's a good place to do the homework things, which she's supposed to do, but that's about it. The room looks bare almost. One could question if there would even be a roommate, were it not for the simple 'Reira' on the door courtesy of the floor's RA, or the slight storage of school things on the desk and in the wardrobe.

Really, Reira's only back because vacation was a bit 'boring', and everyone seemed to be doing interesting things at the campus anyway. If only there were things to actually unpack.

Not that there ever are.

And then she Feels something, coming near the door. She Feels it, and as a shadow starts melting in something sort of clicks in the back of her mind. A memory perhaps, distant and fuzzy but just a little clearer now after all those bubbles scattered about.

A shadow, melting into...] Mnh-

[Oh--!! This is a pleasant surprise! Shadow assumes his full form and pads over to Reira, sniffing at her.

... And then after a few moments of that, uh-- well. Enjoy that lick to the face, Reira.]

Well for starters it is far more emotive a response than Shadow would have ever received back in the day. Mostly Tiny Reira just sort of got licked and stared and stared some more.

Mind, Reira still stares, but there's also a blink followed by-] K...

[KITTY!! It's KITTY they remember this one!!!

Shadow is getting a big hug around the neck, the child shaking from the pressure of something she knows catching up to her. That's never happened after all. Not right in front of her not like this. And now something- no, someone, is here, and she can hold them and everything...

Reira's face is tearfully buried in fur, even while her sprites each come out to squeakily greet a long lost 'sibling' of theirs.]

Library!

[Her previous visit to the library had been entirely just to look around. Now, a couple days later, Desidera pays it another visit, this time to pick out some books to read as a way to pass the time.

Already having a couple of her choices with her, while reaching to pull another book from its own shelf, she hears V's voice and immediately jerks her own hand back, clearly intending to not be in the way herself.]

Oh, no, it's fine, go— [Here's where she turns a bit to see who it is.] —oh! Hello again! But yes, if you wanted that one, go on ahead.

Ah, hello again yourself.

[V smiles, clearly recognizing her.]

If you're certain. I'll see to finishing it as quickly as possible, in that case.

[She shakes her head at that.] There's no need to rush for my sake, I can wait however long I need to.

[A few moments pass with her looking back at the shelves again, but then she again turns to him.] Mm, it occurs to me that I never asked your name earlier. I do apologize for that. Mine is Desidera.

Has he been causing you trouble? If that's the case, I apologize for him...

[If there was a way to convey pinching the bridge of one's nose over text, the second part of that message would have been making extensive use of it.]

No, I'm fine. He didn't do anything yet.

I don't know much about familiars or how good they listen. If he does do everything you say, could you tell him not to try and eat any hawks with red tails?

[Would kinda ruin his day if he was eaten by a gigantic monster bird. Just saying.]

[ Suddenly finding himself eye in eye with a panther is... disconcerting, though James is becoming increasingly used to disconcerting events in this Academy. For a moment he's simply staring, then he turns to the human in the area - he at least hopes that's the owner. ]

Excuse me, how does your friend here react to wolves? That might be of imperative importance, since we're keeping a wolf puppy one floor above.

[V looks up from his book at the question.]

Shadow doesn't have a problem with them. He's only hostile with threats to my own safety.

Alright, that's a relief. We've also got a toad, but he won't ever be outside without supervision anyway.

[ James offers a smile now that this is settled. ]

[Hieke's got a lot of downtime, now that summer is in swing and students are still largely off campus. It leaves him with not much else to do, so he heads to the library and reads.

It's...maybe not the ideal situation, but it works for now.

He blinks up at the man, hand paused in midair.]

Ah, no, it's fine.

[He pulls his hand back, feeling more than a little awkward.]

[V will go ahead and get that book for himself, in that case. If he's made any note of Hieke's appearance, he's mercifully not making that obvious.

Actually, it doesn't even faze him, frankly. Like, honestly, what does it matter anyway. He'll go back to browsing shortly.]

[ Rex is also in the library for what the weak-willed might call unreasonable amounts of time. He presently has a stack from his hip to his collarbone, balanced under one hand. Considering that Rex is 7'4, it's quite a lot of books but apparently there's room for one more, the same that V was reaching for.

He opens his mouth to say something along the lines that V may, of course, have it but stops stock still to stare instead, his raised hand slowly turning to touch his chin. ]

...Does the name Reira mean anything to you?

[ After an unfortunate situation in which Rex blasted everyone's memories around the place, V's face rings a bell. ]

[Psh, unreasonable amounts. It's (probably) a fine amount of time.

The question gives V pause as he peers up at Rex.]

... Ah... yes. She's my roommate. And... I suppose you could say that she and I have history.

Lumiere, Floor 3, end of the month

[It's late in the month when Imelda returns to campus, having spent the better part of summer vacation at home in Mexico. After all, it's not every year that her daughter turns fifteen, and there was a lot of things to plan for that party.]

[But now she's back in her home away from home, and apparently with new residents on her floor. It's hard to miss them as she comes in with a small travel suitcase in hand, since she has to pass by the common room to get to her dorm. Her steps slow to a halt in the hall, as she notices the man and his cat. Likewise, her grey-striped tabby cat also notices the intruders and bounds her way over to the couch to hop up onto the arm rest. She doesn't seem at all put off that this panther is so much larger than herself. For now.]

Hello. Are you waiting for someone? Or are you new here?

[The panther rumbles a greeting to the cat as V lowers his book and nods in greeting to Imelda.]

I recently arrived. You may call me V. I'm a new graduate student here. [A pause, before he adds--] My room's on this floor.

As is mine. [She leaves her suitcase standing against the wall and comes to join V in the common room. When she's close enough, she extends her hand in greeting.]

Imelda Rivera. I'm the RA for this floor. I apologize for being away when you arrived. Have you already settled into your room?

[Imelda's cat meanwhile climbs onto the back of the couch like she's circling around the panther, then leans down to bat lightly with her paw. Who is this intruder taking up the whole couch? The nerve.]

[Akechi's in the common room, taking advantage of the couch to read a bit more comfortably than he could in bed when...is that a panther just padding over and curling up next to him? Uhh...]

Ah...well, that's something you don't see every day.

[The panther lets out something that sounds vaguely like amusement before lightly butting his head against Akechi's shoulder. Attention pls.]
