Arrival

[Sometime in the morning, a motorcycle speeds towards Daybreak's gates, coming to a stop right outside. The boy on it is wearing some of the darkest blacks known to man, and a motorcycle helmet. He takes the helmet off and looks up at the school.]

Daybreak Academy, huh? Can they really tell me what I want to know? What's your goal here, Ovan?

Getting familiar

[Haseo's looking around the grounds, not talking to anyone. He won't move out of anyone's way, and you won't get so much as a "my bad" if he bumps into you.]

I'll just get this out of the way now. If any of you know anything about Tri-Edge, tell me. It doesn't matter what it is, so long as it's useful.

The daemon? I've heard rumours, but largely what everybody knows. That it spends its time fighting other daemons. Maybe it's trying to become the strongest?

Not just Daemons. I know everyone says it doesn't attack humans, but I've got first hand knowledge otherwise.

If a daemon changes its habits that quickly, that's cause for concern. You fought it and lived?

[lithoneysuckle]

Only because it thought I was as good as dead anyway. I was bleeding out and couldn't move, so I wasn't exactly much of a threat at that point.

[stavros]

I don't know why it would attack you, but whatever reason it had, that means it's a risk to the human population now. That's something to take seriously. I'll see
if anyone has seen it, though I am sure you've done that as well.

Just make sure no hunters go after it. Tri-Edge is mine.

I can understand a sense of responsibility, but that kind of mentality is what gets people hurt. If you worry about... what is it the gaming club called it? Kill-stealing? You leave more open to be hurt like yourself, and you may get carried away as well.

You don't know all the details, it has to be me.

Perhaps... If that's what destiny has decreed, then that's what it will lead you to. If you must, then you will.

It's not destiny or anything like that. It's just something I have to do.

[stavros]

Isn't it the same thing?

Not at all. Besides, I don't believe in destiny.

[stavros]

How? It's important, isn't it?

[lithoneysuckle]

"Destiny" means it's part of some grand plan the universe has for me. This was something I chose, just the results of all the actions taken that lead to this point.

That's basically what Keith said, too. It doesn't make much sense to me. Fate is fate whether or not there's free will involved.

...That makes literally no sense. Doesn't Fate kind of imply that it'll happen no matter what your choices are?

Well, sort of, but if you try to avoid fate, things usually just go wrong. I've heard a lot of stories about that.
