GRIMM TIDINGS

GRIMM TIDINGS
Log Comm | Network Comm | OOC Comm | Navigation

On the morning of the 27th, the campus is put on high alert. Students and staff alike wake to announcements calling willing volunteers to report to the Anvil of Hadur to be geared appropriately or to have their equipment checked, or else warned to stay within the dorms or other secured buildings on campus to avoid being caught in the fighting.
Those who are sensitive to such things can feel an unsettling presence begin to enroach; monsters that feel little except malice and an urge for destruction, hungering for life.
The Grimm are almost here.

A. DIRECT COMBAT
Students and staff eager to get into the fray are assigned the task of splintering the Grimm forces into more manageable chunks as they approach the Academy and swarm onto its grounds, assisted by Daybreak’s on-campus forces and other allies brought in for the fight. The goal, if any, is twofold - first, to divide and conquer, forcing large groups of Grimm apart into wards where they can be more easily whittled down and neutralized, and second, to keep them as far from the classrooms and dormitories as possible.
B. TOWER DEFENSE
To aid in the defense of the Academy, those who are less able to greet the enemy directly have been granted temporary and supervised access to some of Daybreak’s ranged defense systems. They’re a mix of more traditional magic and advanced technology; runic sniper rifles and enchanted grenade launchers sit side by side with staves and wands made for the purpose of long-range casting and activation of wards.
For the more daring, the gargoyles that commonly sit docile on the Academy’s rooftops are being summoned to service as mobile cannon platforms - magically-reinforced stone creatures able to leap or fly high above the battlefield to target groups of Grimm with arcane cannon blasts and to engage targets in the air. They vary in size - some can only bear a single rider safely, while others can support entire groups. All prioritize the safety of their riders above their own structural integrity.
C. TITAN-KILLING
Among the mass of shadowy forces, one in particular stands out. Towering above the rest of the small army, the Leviathan will initially stand and watch the battle going on, ignoring any attacks - but once it catches sight of its four targets, it refuses to be diverted from its course. Able to move faster and more fluidly across large distances than its bulk would suggest, the Leviathan’s major advantage is in brute strength and size, and its fearsome ability to breathe torrents of electric fire.
However, it’s little more than an exceptionally oversized beast, in the end, and unlike a normal animal, it harbors very little in the way of survival instincts. Though it won’t sit and take any attempts to kill it, it has a tendency to ignore anything that’s not its mission, and therein lies a weakness that can be exploited.
D AFTERMATH
The army of Grimm has been successfully repelled or recalled, likely looking quite a bit worse for wear than when they first arrived. Now is the time for wound care, clean up, and a well-earned rest after such hard work.
E WILDCARD
For anything else, on or off the battlefield, that doesn’t fit in with any of the above prompts.

[He tries to keep a stiff, professional air, but his lips kept tugging, ready to curl into a manic smile, despite his less than optimal state and the discomfort of standing in the sunlight]
I've worked through pain before - hah!
[A sneaky Grimm tried to avoid the gunfire by swooping up from below, only to get a sharp axe kick on it's skull, before following it up with a sharp whack from the cane]
Looks like a few have some semblance of sense.

Moriarty scoffs, but keeps his attention on the incoming force, sniping where it's needed - but soon the urge to wreak havoc is too intense, and he grabs the grenade launcher again.]
Such a pity - if they were any smarter, they might have been a decent fight!
[He gives another cackle as the grenade sails towards a Grimm's open mouth, unable to contain himself.]
Haahaaaa, it seems I made the correct choice in coming here! What a wonderful time - isn't it? Wahahaha!!

[He didn't say 'not dangerous', only a fool would dismiss such creatures out of hand, especially with the waves coming in, as the sun dips lower, Sherlock would feel the "heaviness" of daylight slowly let up, and then it's only a matter of time before his full abilities are unleashed.
And despite himself, laughter bubbles out of him, talking quickly as legs and cane strikes any Grimm that managed to get past Moriarty's fire]
I hadn't let myself cut loose for since we had to break into a Lich's tower... hah, remind me to tell you about that!
no subject
[Another sharp grin, as he continues to attack freely.]
Still, I do hope the students are having just as much fun as we are, hm?
no subject
[He listens for a moment]
It seems like the ones who are in the fray are doing quite a number -hah!- on these creatures... they're starting to thin out.
no subject
[Sadly, he can see that - but he says nothing in response, more focused on his 'fun' until they finally retreat - and when all is said and done, he's giggling to himself, fighting past a heady mixture of adrenaline and utter elation as he makes his way back down to the ground.
When that's achieved, countless butterflies pop into existance around him, flying in agitated patterns.]
Heheh...hahaha...
[He tries to muffle the laughter with a hand, but it's impossible - it's just bubbling out of him, and he feels like he's going to burst from all of this energy and joy that's wrapped up inside of him.]

Sherlock felt as though he hadn't really let loose in forever, and it was exhilarating! Laughter bubbling out as he purposely, playfully balances right on the edge of the roof before dropping down, rolling as he lands, before coming to a stop, laying on his back on the grass, as one of the butterflies flitted over, he playfully blew a puff of air at it - bursting into giggles]
Now that was some sport!
no subject
[He can't stop the laughter again as he sees Sherlock act like a schoolboy, rolling on the ground and laying on the grass as if they hadn't just finished fighting a grand army.
At the puff of air, that same butterfly flutters right in front of Sherlock's face, weaving in irregular patterns over and over again, as if teasing him.]
I-In-Indeed! Hehe, Wahahaha!!
[A full cackle comes from his mouth before he attempts to muffle it again, realizing that this elation is - unnatural. No, are they feeding the feelings on each other through their link?
...It seems so.]
no subject
oh.
His eyes widened at the same moment Moriarty stifles his laughter, as he almost seems to be vibrating in place from the energy, the excitement that keeps building, looking for some place to escape. He soon sits up, his pupils narrowing into cat-like slits]
no subject
if Holmes is right there...and I'm like this....then...!]
With a sudden joyful whoop, he lunges at his rival, fists grabbing for any piece of clothing he can grab in a rush to try and grapple him.[
no subject
His lips spread into a wide, fanged smile]
