Kinda like a catch all, where you drop the ball.
Who: Rex vs the world
When: Halloween month
What: The theme of these prompts seems to be 'running.'
๐ฅซ Feeding Frenzy ๐ Part 1
Late Night Soliel
A fancy town like Soliel doesn't have much of a stray animal problem, but there's always some wherever you go, no matter what the brochures say. Maybe some bratty kids beg for a puppy, stop caring at it, it gets out, perhaps no one goes looking for it... It happens a few times, and in the end, you get a little pack going.
He's done it everywhere he's ever been for more than a few days, so naturally, its become routine in Daybreak- feeding the strays. It's not every night, but there are often those days where he can't find something to do after midnight. On those days, he takes whatever he can to a particular spot by the road to the town where they check for him. Fine dining fit for the fanciest of tables is tossed around, Rex making sure to throw the food around evenly. He does the entire thing with a grim, unfeeling face no matter how cute they are.
๐ฅซ Feeding Frenzy ๐ Part 2
Late Night Daybreak
Usually, Rex wanders off before they're done eating and the gang is too distracted to follow him. This time, he stayed a little too long- which means why Rex now has a bunch of dogs following him around. He thought if he started to walk, they'd give up. But on the contrary, they started to run circles around him, vying for attention. So he started to run to get away. They ran faster to keep him around. So Rex started a full sprint. His legs are long, but they have four, which is how Rex has ended up dashing through the middle of Daybreak followed by a pack of very insistent dogs. He's the alpha now.
๐ Spooky Scary Skinitons ๐
Mid-Day Daybreak
Rex has been working on an exo-muscle suit for a while. A set of artificial muscles worn over his own, designed to hold him together if injured and improve physical performance. With a few tips from Dr Ziegler to work from, it was turning out better than expected! Except it had a tendency to get up and go. He hadn't worked that kink out yet.
That's why a headless, hollow set of black muscles, made suitable for a man of Rex's size is running around the academy. Running upright with arms held out, clambering around on all fours (sometimes up walls) and for a limited time offer- riding on Indrik.
๐ฑ From Little Acorns ๐ณ
Some time, Daybreak
While Rex thinks basically everything done for fun is a pointless waste of time that is actively bringing humanity closer to extinction by detracting time from essential things... he's still the resident wizard on the student council and has always struggled with saying no to anyone. So preparing the setting for the October dance was his mostly self-imposed task.
Rex started a little garden in the woods early on when he arrived, mostly because he was paranoid about food. He's mostly gotten over that, but he keeps it up anyway. He likes creating things- if that's machines, spells or vegetables, doesn't matter. It interests him the same. Its been grown naturally thus far, but a little communing with the local nature spirits, a bit of research and-
That's how Rex ended up rolling a ten-foot-tall tomato into Daybreak.
His second try is, in typical Rex fashion, far later at night than it should be. So if you're brave or stupid, you might be investigating the intense malevolent laughter coming from the middle of the woods, coming from a giant flaming face.
๐ I Don't Need Opponents, My Equipment Kicks My Ass For Me ๐
Any time, training rooms.
Rex has yet to truly comprehend that his mother's signature equipment have minds of their own, thoughts which are complete bitches who hate each other. He's made several attempts to understand their composition, but "sunlight" is not usually a beautiful golden metal suitable for the construction of a six-foot-long sword, nor "moonlight" a brilliant blue and silver gemstone from which a gauntlet/shield combo could be made.
So there's a couple of things to learn.
He can be found in the legionnaire quarters practising in the use of the abnormal equipment. Their colossal size presents problems, but he's determined to master them- as far as he's aware, he's the only heir to the Arany Style and thus honour bound to take them up. Things seem to go much more smoothly when he's seen practising with just the sword or only the shield- but someone might hear his strange cry of "Uboaaa!?" when he tries to swing the sword while holding it in the gauntlet's grip. The sword decided it didn't want to work with the shield, and transformed into a flail halfway through, the chain wrapping around Rex and crashing him to the ground. He didn't know it could do that.
๐ Pseudo-wildcard- sun and moon shenanigans. ๐
Equally as baffling was that time someone effected by the sun or moon, like a vampire or were, touched the relevant item and a thing happened.
Or actual wild card, throw whatever you want at me or hit me up to plan something.

Feeding Frenzy 2: Paws of Steel
So when he hears the whines, wuffs, and panting of doggy pursuit, and catches sight of the wacky cartoon chase in progress, Therion wastes absolutely no time scrambling up to the safety of a window ledge, pressing himself as far into the corner as he can go.]
Hey! Put those back where you found them, or so help me--!
Tag line: โItโs a dog feed dog world...โ
Wha-
[ Rex is temporarily distracted by Therionโs reference to a movie heโs never seen and nearly crashes into a tree- he has just enough time to do one of those โrun up the surface and flip off of itโ things, landing on the same ledge but taking up a lot more space. So theyโre both stranded above a pack of piranha pups, hopping up at them. ]
no subject
[God damn it, Rex. Therion draws his own limbs in closer, but a window ledge doesn't exactly offer a lot of real estate for two entire men, especially when one of them is Rex. He bites his tongue and starts discreetly feeling around the window's fastenings.]
What did you do.
no subject
[ Rex is attempting to take up as little space as he can, but being 7'5 and pretty ripped these days, it's not easy. He has only one foot on the windowsill, clinging to the framing with one hand. ]
I didn't realise they'd hound me so!
[ It's in the name, dude! ]
no subject
Haven't you ever heard of dogged determination?
[WHY ARE YOU MAKING PUNS AT A TIME LIKE THIS? Therion's nimble fingers find whatever it is they're searching for, and he grumbles, shifting towards the center of the ledge. He's going to need more room to work.]
Move. Step over me, I don't care. I'll get us inside.
no subject
However, Therion's purposeful one amuses Rex. He loves puns. As a result, he lets out a chuckle which sounds downright sinister. It's just his laugh. ]
Mmmhmmmhmhmm... [ Urgh.
Rex ends up in a weird Spider-Man pose, wedging his hands and feet into the corners and forming a sort of shield around Therion. ]

Spooky Scary Skinitons
Knowing what it is, who it belongs to, and where she had last seen it, she's reasonably certain she knows what needs to be done.
The chase begins.]

no subject
The fact that it could apparently recognize her? There's a joke about muscle memory in there somewhere. Otherwise, it's not expected, and when she realizes that it does, she also realizes she has a little bit of a task ahead of her this time as it probably wouldn't want to be caught again.
She runs down the same street in pursuit, but taking care not to bump into anyone or anything along the way is keeping her from going at full speed, so it won't be as easy this time around.]
no subject
This gives it the opportunity to twist itself at the waist again, place its hands beside where a head would be and waggle them. It has no tongue to stick out, but it's there in spirit. ]
no subject
It's time to pull out (some of) the stops. She changes her course slightly, heading toward the side of a nearby building. The shadow that said building is casting temporarily stretches up out of the ground and gives her a staircase to climb so she can go from rooftop to rooftop while continuing to chase the suit down.
When she caught the hand by itself before, she had only relied on her strength and what speed she has, so the introduction of some of her powers to the whole mix might be a bit unexpected.]

it's time for Sword Snuggles (TM)
[At first, the sword and shield had been impressive to behold, and then she reached out to touch the sword and felt all the power drain from her body and collapsed. Now there's a bit of a grudge.
Still, she joins Rex in his training whenever she can - whenever she's not busy - even though her school-gifted rapier is no match for Rex. (She wants to learn how to use it effectively, though, just in case there's another school-sanctioned duel.)]
You might want to try talking to them.
[She says, as she looks at Rex wrapped up in the flail and flat on his face.]
no subject
He knows he can't ask Adelaide for help in untangling himself, she'd probably just fall on top of him and someone would surely take a photo of it. So he has to kick his legs out and roll until he's no longer wrapped up. ]
They don't talk. [ He's still loosely draped in the chains, holding the hilt of Eternal Sunshine, rubbing his head gently with the gauntlet of Blue Moon. ] Or if they do, I can't hear them.
no subject
Probably.
She's not going to risk it.
She crosses her arms, resting them on her knees and tilting her head.]
Even if they can't talk, that doesn't mean they can't listen. They're magic, right?
no subject
[ Having any sort of advantage over Blue Moon, no matter how slight, pointed out has Sunlight immediately forgive Rex. The chains swirl around him as they reform into the sword form, allowing him to use the hilt to help stand up. ]
...I'll admit there's some evidence they are alive. But what they want of me is difficult to discern.
[ Probably because what they want is a wielder that does whatever they want really loudly all the time. ]
no subject
[Though she has no idea what they would even want from him. She pushes herself up from her feet and makes her way over to him, ostensibly to get a better look at the sword and gauntlet.]
Did you like...feel anything, when Sunlight changed shape? That might give you a clue.
no subject
[ If he let that annoyance out and smacked her against a wall or something, Sunlight might consider that a bonus. His night infinite patience really gets on their... sword and shield equivalent of nerves. Moon less so, but not by much. ]
Not really. I don't think there's any sort of... connection between us, not like there is with Indrik and I at least.

Equipment
[Ammy sensed something interesting this way, and arrived just in time to see Rex go ass over teakettle. She has some words to say now.]
Just because you two don't get along doesn't mean you can just take it out on your wielder like that!
[Yes, she is talking to Rex's weapons.]
no subject
[ Rex manages to roll around so he's not face down, but he's a little... 'just headbutted the floor' to rationalise what Ammy is saying. So he's just sat there bound in a chain. ]
There's just me in here?
[ Eternal Sunlight, however, is suddenly very alert. "What. A. Hottie! Rex, get her number!" Blue Moon echoes the sentiment but if Ammy can hear the moon is a different story. ]
no subject
[One of her children is the Moon God, so she probably can hear Blue Moon as well.]
And really Rex-san, you haven't figured out that your equipment is sentient?
no subject
Uh... Well, I reasoned they have their own will, but sentient?
[ Evidentally, he can't hear them- which is why Rex isn't getting embarrassed by Sunlight asking- "Hey, what are this guy's chances with a lady like you?" ]
no subject
As for the other question, quite low unless Adelaide-san is willing to share.

Feeding Frenzy 2
Ah, so this is the tall one that's been feeding you? I should've realized.
[The man addresses the dogs first with a tone of familiarity]
no subject
If you can talk to them, please tell them to leave me alone.
