Kinda like a catch all, where you drop the ball.
Who: Rex vs the world
When: Halloween month
What: The theme of these prompts seems to be 'running.'
π₯« Feeding Frenzy π Part 1
Late Night Soliel
A fancy town like Soliel doesn't have much of a stray animal problem, but there's always some wherever you go, no matter what the brochures say. Maybe some bratty kids beg for a puppy, stop caring at it, it gets out, perhaps no one goes looking for it... It happens a few times, and in the end, you get a little pack going.
He's done it everywhere he's ever been for more than a few days, so naturally, its become routine in Daybreak- feeding the strays. It's not every night, but there are often those days where he can't find something to do after midnight. On those days, he takes whatever he can to a particular spot by the road to the town where they check for him. Fine dining fit for the fanciest of tables is tossed around, Rex making sure to throw the food around evenly. He does the entire thing with a grim, unfeeling face no matter how cute they are.
π₯« Feeding Frenzy π Part 2
Late Night Daybreak
Usually, Rex wanders off before they're done eating and the gang is too distracted to follow him. This time, he stayed a little too long- which means why Rex now has a bunch of dogs following him around. He thought if he started to walk, they'd give up. But on the contrary, they started to run circles around him, vying for attention. So he started to run to get away. They ran faster to keep him around. So Rex started a full sprint. His legs are long, but they have four, which is how Rex has ended up dashing through the middle of Daybreak followed by a pack of very insistent dogs. He's the alpha now.
π Spooky Scary Skinitons π
Mid-Day Daybreak
Rex has been working on an exo-muscle suit for a while. A set of artificial muscles worn over his own, designed to hold him together if injured and improve physical performance. With a few tips from Dr Ziegler to work from, it was turning out better than expected! Except it had a tendency to get up and go. He hadn't worked that kink out yet.
That's why a headless, hollow set of black muscles, made suitable for a man of Rex's size is running around the academy. Running upright with arms held out, clambering around on all fours (sometimes up walls) and for a limited time offer- riding on Indrik.
π± From Little Acorns π³
Some time, Daybreak
While Rex thinks basically everything done for fun is a pointless waste of time that is actively bringing humanity closer to extinction by detracting time from essential things... he's still the resident wizard on the student council and has always struggled with saying no to anyone. So preparing the setting for the October dance was his mostly self-imposed task.
Rex started a little garden in the woods early on when he arrived, mostly because he was paranoid about food. He's mostly gotten over that, but he keeps it up anyway. He likes creating things- if that's machines, spells or vegetables, doesn't matter. It interests him the same. Its been grown naturally thus far, but a little communing with the local nature spirits, a bit of research and-
That's how Rex ended up rolling a ten-foot-tall tomato into Daybreak.
His second try is, in typical Rex fashion, far later at night than it should be. So if you're brave or stupid, you might be investigating the intense malevolent laughter coming from the middle of the woods, coming from a giant flaming face.
π I Don't Need Opponents, My Equipment Kicks My Ass For Me π
Any time, training rooms.
Rex has yet to truly comprehend that his mother's signature equipment have minds of their own, thoughts which are complete bitches who hate each other. He's made several attempts to understand their composition, but "sunlight" is not usually a beautiful golden metal suitable for the construction of a six-foot-long sword, nor "moonlight" a brilliant blue and silver gemstone from which a gauntlet/shield combo could be made.
So there's a couple of things to learn.
He can be found in the legionnaire quarters practising in the use of the abnormal equipment. Their colossal size presents problems, but he's determined to master them- as far as he's aware, he's the only heir to the Arany Style and thus honour bound to take them up. Things seem to go much more smoothly when he's seen practising with just the sword or only the shield- but someone might hear his strange cry of "Uboaaa!?" when he tries to swing the sword while holding it in the gauntlet's grip. The sword decided it didn't want to work with the shield, and transformed into a flail halfway through, the chain wrapping around Rex and crashing him to the ground. He didn't know it could do that.
π Pseudo-wildcard- sun and moon shenanigans. π
Equally as baffling was that time someone effected by the sun or moon, like a vampire or were, touched the relevant item and a thing happened.
Or actual wild card, throw whatever you want at me or hit me up to plan something.

[ Somehow that seems the most pressing question. The chains stay looped around Rex, purely because Sunlight wants Ammy to help remove them. "Oh, that won't be a problem," says Moon, though why... neither elaborate. Probably because all three of them don't really value monogamy. ]
no subject
[She notably didn't answer Rex's question, and is now moving to disentangle Sunlight from him. And if her robes slip a bit while she's bending down, well, that's just gravity, right?]
no subject
Rex does not play ball- he turns his head away and with a polite cough- ]
Uhm, your robe is...
[ Sunlight gives a sharply hissed, corner of the mouth style 'shut up' at Rex while Moon just generally groans at the whole situation. They both consider lasciviousness to be a virtue, but Moon is a little more relaxed than Sunlight about most things. ]
no subject
Oh... thank you for telling me...
[She reluctantly fixes her robes and finishes untangling Rex.]
You might want to find some way to be able to hear the voices of your equipment. It can get lonely without someone who can understand you. Either way, may I have your names? It's not often I encounter something so unique as weapons forged from sunlight and moonlight.
no subject
"See? Hopeless! Who wouldn't want to stare at a sight like that?" says Sunlight, but Moon adds- "Don't tease him, it's not his fault he's useless." ]
Lonely, huh? [ Rex is attempting to hide his embarrassment, but it's not easy. With how pale he is, his cheeks don't go pink. They go a burning red. He practically glows. So he leaps on the chance to introduce his equipment. ]
This is Eternal Sunlight. [ "First!" Sunlight yells, like a 12-year-old on a youtube video, causing Moon to 'tsk' in annoyance. As Rex holds up the hilt- the chains pull together until she is once again a six-foot-long sword, held aloft so all her glamourous golden glory can shine. See seems to be decorated in intricate patterns, but after seeing her rearrange herself it's clear they're the way she changes shape. ] And this is Blue Moon.
[ The shield has no handle, but instead a gauntlet. The gauntlet is made of opaque, dark blue gemstone while the shield aspect is a wonderfully reflective silver stone. Less ostentatious, but beautiful in her own right. The light catches her wonderfully as Rex holds her up and gently turns her in the air. ]
They were my mother's.
[ Which leads to a topic they can both agree on, simultaneously saying- "We still are Helen's!" ]

[A frown crosses Ammy's face.]
I believe I see what the problem is. Not only do those two not get along, they haven't acknowledged you. You say they were your mother's, they say there's no past tense there.
no subject
[ Rex's stoic face and gloomy aura makes it hard to tell when he's feeling worse than usual, but what a dark vibe he gives off upon hearing that. ]
I suppose that makes sense.
[ Because he is 100% certain he is a complete loser who doesn't deserve anything good, let alone even the chance to prove he's half the warrior his mother was. His face hasn't changed at all but he thinks he might cry.
Sunlight adds "See? Completely hopeless. No fire! Helen would kick my hilt for not acknowledging her!" ]

[ He says, a 7'5 beefcake holding a sword almost as tall as him and equally heavy shield like they're nothing
"Punch him. I don't have hands, punch him for me," says Sunlight. Moon on the other hand adds- "Or just tell him to hand us over to someone with spirit." ]
no subject
no subject
Because I want to.
[ Which gets an immediate, identical and in-synch tsundere 'tch' from both items, though Moon is the one to add "Well... Maybe not completely hopeless." ]

Their bickering goes on for a bit as background noise, while Rex hefts Sunlight to rest on his shoulder and Moon on his hip. He thinks it over carefully, as he does everything, but he ends up with a small smile. ]
I hurt and bleed frequently. It hasn't stopped me so far.
[ And that's the weapons falling silent. They have no jaws to drop, but there's that empty, 'left on read' silence of shocked people.]
Thank you.
no subject
It will be an honor to train you. Give me some time to work out a schedule?
no subject
Iβd not go that far. [ It's more a curse to know him, let alone train him. ] But, absolutely, as much time as you need. Iβll look forward to it.

[ "Over dinner, say over dinner you fool," Sunlight hisses to a Rex who can't hear her. "Or just naked," adds Moon, proving that being calmer doesn't mean any less forward. ]

The suggestion actually gets him to brighten up the tiniest amount. He'd already been worrying about how he could possibly repay her. He clicks Sunlight into the strange, snap-in-snap-out scabbard slung diagonally over his back and Moon onto a holster at the small of his back, just so he can put his hands together. ]
Certainly! I've been practising cooking. It will go a small way towards returning your favour to me.
no subject
[Now there's an understatement.]

[ The portions served at Daybreak, which is to say, almost infinite food available 24/7. Now you can see how he's put on nearly 200lbs since arrival, having gone from beanpole to beefcake. Beefpole. ]
