[The infirmary has seen a lot in the first month of the quarter alone - friends were born here and eventually taken away, people have been sick and injured and that's not even including the injuries people didn't go to the infirmary for. But come February, Hieke is a little bit more prepared for things. The infirmary is kept as tidy as ever, and he's even decorated for the holiday!

There are vases filled with flowers on his desk, and he's awkwardly taped some heart shaped decor to the wall. There was an attempt and that accounts for everything, even if he doesn't know anything about Valentine's Day.

However, the infirmary isn't only for the sick or injured. Students taking Hieke's class are more than welcome to stop by to ask for help or ask general questions - there's an office set aside for him, but he spends all of his hours in the infirmary anyways. It's the best place to catch him.]

Good afternoon.

I'm sorry to bother everyone, but I'm looking for something. A mushroom - native to the Outlands - that's not dangerous or anything, just a little mischievous. It managed to find out how to open the windows in my room, and now it's loose and locate and summoning magic were something I never spent much time studying.

It's about a foot tall, with a pale orange cap, so it should be pretty distinct. If you see it, please let me know! And mind the spores.

Kano. [Her voice raises just a little, even as tired as she is.] Put that down. Nurse stations can have more than just "potions and good things".

[She really doesn't want to, but she's going to get to her feet and start over towards Kano because the last thing anyone needs is a crisis in the infirmary right now. She stumbles a little on that first step, some residual pins and needles in her legs, but nothing further than that.]

[ He doesn't miss that shift in pronoun, having struggled with it himself all the time the hollow's been on his mind— not his mother, he insists, but enough of her that's there, that all he can do is reject the fact that the hollow exists and want to run away from it. So he's put in a tough spot here: whether to engage Yuya with his line of questioning, or to engage Imelda in her warning—- in the end, he'd rather her sit down, so he pulls back from the shelves and ducks his head under her arm so he can turn her around to sit. ]

Hm, well... To put it plainly... That'd be a 'yes.' I messed up, Yuya. Should've made such it was gone for good, instead of just assuming~

[Oh. Yuya's expression twists with regret, even if he's not sure what answer he was expecting there.]

I didn't check, either. [So they were both careless. His gaze drifts down, before coming back up to Kano.] Gongenzaka saw one, too. I was looking up what she is...

[He pauses, worrying over his lip.] What happened this time?

[If Kano is going to duck under her arm, she'll turn back around--like he hoped. But she makes a grab for that jar anyways, trying to pluck it out of his grip. It might be easier to just grab a hold of him, but she's trying to be mindful of how he is about being touched.]

[Fortunately, it also keeps her for adding any details that he might not want in the story that he's telling Yuya.]

[ Best Imelda grab that jar from Kano's grasp, or he might drop it and then who knows what he'd unleash upon the infirmary. ]

Hm, well~ I tried the same tactic again, and in the end, I phoned a friend! It's gone now, no worries~ That's not important, though- you said you were looking it up? What'd you find?

[Yuya folds his arms loosely, not following Kano as he swings around. He watches him, though, his expression sinking with sympathy and pain. It's gone now, but...]

I found something about demons that... [And then he stops, considering things. Should he lie, say it was just a duplicate and not really the soul of his mother? He doesn't know much about exorcisms, whether his 'friend' just sent her off or destroyed the soul, or whatever. Or if it's not just a spirit that mimicked his mother, like some doppelganger poisoned by the demon.

It's a heavy silence, and Yuya doesn't tear his gaze from Kano.]

That eats parts of spirits. And they get corrupt, missing pieces of themselves like that. It can make them not--normal.

[Imelda is just going to set that jar back onto the shelf where Kano got it from, but as she's doing so, she glances back at Yuya. It's not that she didn't know--given her affiliation with spirits, she could make an educated guess... but hearing it spelled out like that is sobering.]

[She says nothing, though, minding Hieke's supplies and letting the boys talk.]
