Afternoon at the Museum
Who: Yang... and you!
What: It's time for a field trip to the Musée de l'Armée in Paris, France. The afternoon is in the museum. But Yang took everyone at like 10 AM as an excuse to get out and see Paris.
Where: Paris! And at the Army Museum.
When: February 25
Notes: The following prompts are if you want to interact with Yang directly! Otherwise, please feel free to use this as an excuse to do threads in Paris! Yang's taking basically anyone -- heck, even other teachers, TA's, and RA's -- because he really just wanted an easy field trip after grading all the papers and despairing over the fact he might have made his courses too hard.
A. WE'RE ABOUT TO HAVE PARIS RIGHT NOW
[The helicopters have landed at Charles de Gaulle airport, everyone has bused into the city center, and it's now about 11:00 in the morning. They aren't supposed to be at the museum until two. Thus, standing in front of the crowd, Wen-li Yang...
...is due to give a speech.]
So, Paris! It's a pretty big deal.
[Hm, what else is important...]
Meet at the Army Museum at 2! And try to not get in too much trouble. Have fun!
[He'll hang around for a second in case anyone has questions.]
B. AND NOW: OLD STUFF!
[At about 1:57 PM, Yang comes running up with a sandwich still in his mouth and a paper cup with tea in it in hand. He skids to a stop in front of the museum's steps, looks around, and... peers at the people waiting for him.
Then, sheepishly, he waves.
The museum is much too big to do a guided tour. However, unlike the free roam period in Paris, Yang is actually a good source of information here. He roams between the different groups of students, answering questions, providing historical detail, and showing that he isn't actually terrible at his job all of the time.
He'd be easy to approach during any of this.]

Sorry!
[Still too loud. So he's just going to eat another snail pastry while he's still freaking out a little. The blood doesn't have to be human, so that's good...]
Sorry, I'm not like afraid, it was just unexpected and then I thought about the blood thing because we were eating! But like do you want... something else?
[He eyes the pastries instead of looking at Adelaide. So awkward.]
no subject
[Is it? She's not so sure. She just wants him to calm down, but she also doesn't want him to, like, feel bad about freaking out? She'd probably freak out too if she was in his shoes.
She does feel relief when he says he's not afraid. She's not sure she quite believes him, but he cares enough to say that and that...means more than she thought it would.]
No, no, the pastries are fine. I don't...I don't need to drink blood that much. It's fine.
[She's only actually had blood once - before even coming to Daybreak. So, clearly, it's fine.]
RNG just fixed the vampire issue, for now
Really? I'd think you'd need it like every day or something! I don't know anything about real vampires though, so I'm going from movies and that's probably stupid... So were you born a vampire; does that happen? Or were you bitten!? Did you want to be a vampire? Does Dracula exist, have you-
[He stops talking stares blankly...
A castle looms in the distance; a fortress perhaps, with high walls and places for sentries. Lightning strikes behind it, bright yellow streaks across the red and black sky. The path to the fortress is surrounded by a forest of dead trees. He follows the path in a group of people, but they appear shadowy and unidentifiable. Somehow he knows they aren't dangerous to him. Lightning flashes closer; he's no longer with the group, but watching them. Daemons with red and yellow scales and bat wings are closing in on them. The girl with antlers stands beside him, watching as well. She laughs as a daemon drives its lightning sword through one of the shadowy people.
...He turns to yell at the girl who is no longer there.]
Why are you laughing!? Somebody just died!
[He's at a restaurant with Adelaide. He remembers talking to her at the beginning of the field trip, she wanted... chocolate and he'd looked up restaurants. So apparently they'd found one. It wasn't important. He's ignoring her for now while he gets the details into a text file on his phone.]
i'm not sure this is better
And that's what's most concerning of all. He stops talking and is just staring out and nothing and is he...okay? Is this something that normally happens?
She flinches when he yells, wondering what he's talking about. She keeps her voice low, watching him type on his phone.]
Toki...? Are you okay?
me either
I'm fine! I had a vision, it's fine!
[It wasn't too bad; the antler girl was creepy, though.]
So, we found a restaurant!? Did you like the chocolate~!?
no subject
[Because that seemed pretty intense. She also wants to ask more questions, but... ]
And, yes! The chocolate was good! They're not that bad at all.
[She's still worried about him, but if he wants to keep moving on like that didn't happen she won't stop him. She'll just keep a close watch on him, just in case.]
no subject
[He's going to have to start prefacing every outing with "hey, so this might happen..."]
I saw a daemon stabbing somebody, but I don't know who it was! I think they're the same as the ball daemons, because of the lightning swords, but I didn't go to the ball, so I didn't actually see them and can't be certain!
[He tries one of the chocolate pastries left on the table, and... what were they eating? This is not how pastries are supposed to taste.]
no subject
[It would definitely be a good idea.]
The ball daemons...? I don't know what you mean. I think the ball happened before I came here.
[It definitely happened before she transferred here. Should she feel lucky that she missed it?]
no subject
[At least no one told him anyone died.]
I think it was pretty uneventful as daemon attacks go~!
[Not that he has any idea how daemon attacks usually go.]
no subject
[Oh geez, what the hell has she gotten herself into?]
I'm glad nobody was that badly hurt but are those...are those common?
[Please tell her no.]
no subject
[Partially because he spent the better part of a month freaking out, partially because he doesn't pay attention.]
But as thing are going, I'd say avoid all school dances just to be safe!
no subject
[Now she's worried about being here. But if things are usually fine then it's okay, right?
Right.]
Hah, I'm sure there aren't going to be that many dances to worry about.
no subject
[Which probably doesn't help reassure her. He gestures to the last snail pastry.]
Do you want it!?
no subject
[And are super not reassuring.
She shakes her head, motioning for him to take it.]
You can have it!
no subject
How long until we have to get back to the museum?
no subject
We have to get back at 2, right?
[She checks her phone. They've taken more time than she thought.]
We'll still get back on time, though!
no subject
[He's just going to pay for everything, if she doesn't mind. Or had he done that already? Uhh.]
Did we pay already, like when we first ordered?
no subject
[And that's...a good question. Adelaide had been distracted with taking pictures of the place, so she hadn't notice if Toki had paid or not.]
I think so? If we hadn't paid I think everyone would be way more annoyed.
no subject
Okay, then!
[Apparently, they had already paid as no one stops them on the way out.]
no subject
So...does this happen a lot?
no subject
I guess, but not like all the time.
[But it does happen again at the museum later, so joke's on him.]
They're getting better though! Everything used to be like really frightening and weird and so much at once! It's really not a big deal~!
[He looks up directions back to the museum on his phone, since he doesn't know which way they came from.]
no subject
Okay...
[And then, with a little bit more confidence-]
Okay. I'm glad they're getting better for you, at least. It seemed pretty intense.
[She's already heading down the street, actually remembering how to get back, though she stops for Toki and raises her eyebrows.]
It's this way.
no subject
I knew that~! I was just...
[He has no excuses. He catches up with her and says nothing else; she's knows where they're going.]
no subject
Probably.]
It's okay. We might need the directions just in case.
no subject
[Walking back to the museum, he's taking pictures again. Some of the same things he'd already photographed on the way to the restaurant.]
