[A: Cafeteria]
[Despite the... well, general insanity of the world, your average school days still continued, even in the summer. Between classes, Gunvolt made his way to get a hot lunch, and settled down at a table, and produced a book. Looked like a civics textbook, which he cracked open while eating his meal. Studying even while eating, but it didn't look like it was particularly bothersome to him.
He did turn his eyes to anyone who got close or decided to sit near him. ...Honestly, it was times like this where he felt... almost normal.]
Hey there. What's up? Your day going okay?
[B: Research, Development, and Fatigue]
[Other times, though, he clearly wasn't normal. There were many days over the past few months that he spent toiling away in the forge, the Anvil, testing and tinkering with his own equipment, creating new weapons or devices, or... looking to solve other problems. Trying to find ways to help the Black Mages. Gunvolt's workstation was covered, almost top to bottom, with various blueprints and theories on anything he could think of, but admittedly many of them were iterations on ideas, rather than amazing new tech. He was smart, he knew, but advancing runic tech was hard and took more hours than he really had. Still, it didn't stop him from trying. His workspace was littered with in progress projects, but the big one there at the moment looked like a massive sci-fi looking rifle that looked almost more like a cannon, which he pushed forward on his desk and laid his head down for a moment, the clambor in the workshop nothing more than white noise at this point.]
...I think it's finished. I think. Just need to charge a battery... then test it.
[The young man reached over to a tumbler of coffee, and he sat up only long enough to take a long chug of it, before slumping back onto his workstation.]
Ugh. Why do I keep doing this? I don't even know if anyone's going to want to use these even if they do work. Or even if we can mass produce them. ...and I don't even know if I'm any closer to... ugh. Never enough. I don't know if it'll ever be enough.
[Another drag from his coffee, probably unaware that somebody might've overheard him in his frustration.]
[C: Gaming Club, featuring a familiar face]
[Busy as he was, the gaming club had held some solace to him over the past few weeks. It was work in helping to keep it going after everything else, but it was at least much lower impact than engineering or other studies. Still took energy, but other students helping to shoulder that made it easier. But going in today was going to be a little different. When Gunvolt arrives at the club meeting, he's not alone. A girl follows in behind him; she looks older than he is, with long grayish-white hair, and pointedly purple eyes, dressed in the Daybreak Academy uniform, though without the beret. She looks a little awkward to be there, nervous, even, but she's not buckling under people looking at her, either.]
Hey guys, sorry I'm late. Wanted to bring along a new member of the club. She's pretty fond of video games, so I invited her to come to a meeting, so you all could meet her, if you haven't already.
[Gunvolt looked to her, and gave her a reassuring nod. The girl gave a smile, though it looked somewhat forced through uncertainty.]
Ah... hello. It's nice to meet you. My name's Elise. I'm... happy, to be here.
[Some might remember this girl as one of Sumeragi's victims, during the raid on one of their mountain facilities. The girl weaponized by Sumeragi, but rescued by Daybreak. She'd mostly kept to herself as she received treatment and therapy for her trauma, but as late has started to emerge on campus more regularly, but this was the first time she really joined a social gathering.]
Today's a lot of co-op games, right? Elise is pretty good at games, so don't be shy in asking her to play with you, either.
[D: Open to Desidera]
[During a Friday in early July, Gunvolt pushes back to his dorm room in the late afternoon, looking to take a lighter day. Skipping work at the Anvil, he just wanted to get back for some rest, and to be with Desidera and Monarch. Frankly, Desidera had never been far from his mind since he left in the morning, and instead of pushing himself to work harder that he'd just go home and be with her. ...There'd been something he'd been wanting to do for quite awhile anyway.
The door opened, and a tired, but happy looking Gunvolt stepped inside and shut the door behind him. Monarch's hologram quickly turned to the door and gave a wave and a smile.]
Hey, I'm back. How are you both?
