Around Campus

Ren is typically... not chipper, per se, but at least reasonably alert and with it. Recently though, he seems like he's been a bit tired. It's not super noticable but he's definitely taking a few naps in class from time to time which he wouldn't usually do - he's still strategic enough to do it in classes with teachers he can more or less get away with it, but it's unusual.

Those who know him, especially those in his dorms, will note he's been out fairly often during the night. Those who've investigated will find he's been taking helicopters down to Lyon on the regular, usually after class and usually not getting back until fairly late at night. It's been fairly regular for the last few weeks at the very least.

Lyon - the Outlands

Those who find themselves in Lyon, especially those within the Outlands in Lyon will find a young man prowling the area in a trenchcoat, staking out an old-style Chateau that's sprouted up in the middle of what would be the city core. The Chateau is absolutely crawling with strange, generally hostile Outland creatures that appear as twisted vestiges of masked humans in medieval court attire that, when unmasked, morph into monsters. He moves through the Chateau stealthily, taking down choice targets with quick assassinations and casing the entire area.

Back on Campus in a few weeks

Daybreak generally gets local news from Lyon, and reports will start to filter that a local politician had been incarcerating disadvantaged locals on trumped up charges and pressing them into unpaid labor, which he would sell to companies for a tidy profit that he then embezzled. For whatever reason, he's appeared on TV recently, confessing to his crimes and providing ample documentation to support it. His arrest is a huge scandal, which is making the rounds on TV.

In surely completely unrelated news, Ren is now back on campus more regularly, coming back to the dorms on time (except for when he's working at the bar) and not falling asleep in class anymore.

Totally unrelated, I'm sure.

Imagine Wist's surprise when April rolled around and their plan for a great prank was foiled on account of all those students just...leaving??? Truly, they have become the April fool... It's what they wanted, of course -- for the pitiful humans to find freedom -- and sure there are some stragglers around, but...in the end, they decide to take the win and enjoy a short break of their own. Good thing, too, or they might have pulled out all their hair in frustration when Spring Break comes to an end and the swarm of students and faculty willingly return to their prison.

While settling back into the academy and resigning themselves to a routine, the people of Daybreak will be soothed by a gentle tune rising up from the forest. It isn't a song they've heard before, and yet, somehow...it's nostalgic, isn't it? The soft notes of the pan flute stir up something in their hearts, tugging at old memories and drawing forth a feeling of dissatisfaction and longing out from under them. Let the song lull them into taking a moment to withdraw from the hustle and bustle -- hey, turns out they sort of need it. Maybe they're coming down with a cold, or just some quick little bug...

The odd message from an iris account that doesn't exist isn't up for long before the spell kicks into the next phase. However they manifest and from when differs from person to person, but those affected will all have the bizarre experience of watching some ghost of themselves from their past be born from their soul's memory. Don't think there are those that can escape this fate just by returning at a later time, either -- Wist can keep up this panpipe nonsense all day, every day if they have to. If that what it takes to get their point across...

Good luck trying to comprehend whatever point that may be, because now Daybreak is the new home to a bunch of familiar-looking rugrats and has to contend with whatever complications they may bring along with them.

A. LET'S PLAY FROGGER; Lumiere dorm, 3rd floor common area

[Nana has a pet frog.

She worked with Minako to acquire said pet frog, and create a habitat for him. Now, there is a tank with a bullfrog inside of it. A somewhat sizeable tank, and there's water, stones, a house, lily pads, and... er... a large plastic banana. Kerrogan has a happy home, and she has placed his tank in the common room, near a window.

Nana's working on some notes -- studying, probably -- but she looks up to the giant clear tank with a frog in it, and asks said frog:]

Kerrogan, are you enjoying the sun?

[He ribbits in response.]

B. YOU DONUT KNOW WHAT YOU'RE MISSING; out on the Quad

[Everyone at this point is probably used to Nana setting up shop on the Quad and just giving out baked goods.

But, because even a broken clock is right twice a day, she... isn't serving something with bananas.

Because she hasn't learned how to make banana donuts. Her usual stand is unfolded, but instead of "BANANICE" as the banner of choice, it says: "DONUT... NICE?" The question mark is bolded. Nana is uncertain about selling something without bananas. It borders on heresy.

But... donuts cannot have bananas...]

C. BUT YOU KNOW THE SCORE; auditorium, in a music room

[Nana knows how to play piano. In the hallway of the theater building, the sound of abortive stop-and-start piano playing can be heard.

She isn't practicing piano, though.

If one were to look in on Nana, they'd see her sitting at a piano, with a music book. She is, in fact, working on the score to the music for the newest play: the Bee Play (title pending), and scribbling notes on what she thinks would sound good. She plays a few more notes... then sighs, and starts over again.

Composing is hard.]

A. MAKESHIFT BAKE SALES

[Except it's free.

Nana has carved out a little space on the Quad and set-up a stall -- she actually has a collapsible one, for just this purpose -- and a big sign that says "BANANICE BREAD, COOKIES, AND MUFFINS!" There are little hearts and stars drawn on it for good measure.

And, indeed, there is a cornucopia (plaintainacopia?) on the stall, with baked muffins, slices of banana bread, and cookies. There are also some slices of banana cream pie, though those are in shorter supply. And Nana is behind them, looking cheerful as ever.

There are no price tags.]

B. KATANA PRACTICE TIME

[In the Mythril Cage, Nana has taken some time to work on her sparring. She is wearing a tank top and shorts -- and, for once, her hair isn't pinned up in banana-shaped tails, but is instead in a loose ponytail behind her. Her hair is a lot longer than it looks, normally; it hangs down past her shoulders.

She isn't, at the moment, using her Flame-summoned katanas; she is, instead, using wooden practice swords. She has paired blades in her hands, and has just finished with one of the forms she learned. She swings the blades down, resting the tips against the mats, and sighs.]

Hm, still need some work...

[She murmurs it aloud; probably to herself, but anyone nearby might well hear. She was off in her own little world, and didn't quite notice.]

C. COMING IN AFTER A HIKE (Lumiere 3rd floor)

[Very periodically, Nana goes out into the woods outside of Daybreak for a hike. She doesn't usually tell people when she's leaving; she usually isn't gone for more than a couple hours. It, perhaps, looks like when she is getting some 'her' time.

But today she is rolling in a little after dinner, closer to 8:00 PM, because it took longer. Her hiking boots have a few dried, dead leaves stuck to them -- and her coat has some flecks of snow dust on it, though she wiped most off.

She yawns, stifling it with her hand, as she trudges down the hall.]
