When You Made Wishes: start! (player plot)

Imagine Wist's surprise when April rolled around and their plan for a great prank was foiled on account of all those students just...leaving??? Truly, they have become the April fool... It's what they wanted, of course -- for the pitiful humans to find freedom -- and sure there are some stragglers around, but...in the end, they decide to take the win and enjoy a short break of their own. Good thing, too, or they might have pulled out all their hair in frustration when Spring Break comes to an end and the swarm of students and faculty willingly return to their prison.

While settling back into the academy and resigning themselves to a routine, the people of Daybreak will be soothed by a gentle tune rising up from the forest. It isn't a song they've heard before, and yet, somehow...it's nostalgic, isn't it? The soft notes of the pan flute stir up something in their hearts, tugging at old memories and drawing forth a feeling of dissatisfaction and longing out from under them. Let the song lull them into taking a moment to withdraw from the hustle and bustle -- hey, turns out they sort of need it. Maybe they're coming down with a cold, or just some quick little bug...

Why did you come back? You don't have to live like this.

Weren't things better back then? Try to remember what it used to be like.

The odd message from an iris account that doesn't exist isn't up for long before the spell kicks into the next phase. However they manifest and from when differs from person to person, but those affected will all have the bizarre experience of watching some ghost of themselves from their past be born from their soul's memory. Don't think there are those that can escape this fate just by returning at a later time, either -- Wist can keep up this panpipe nonsense all day, every day if they have to. If that what it takes to get their point across...

Good luck trying to comprehend whatever point that may be, because now Daybreak is the new home to a bunch of familiar-looking rugrats and has to contend with whatever complications they may bring along with them.

Well there definitely was more of those in here. It was kind of amazing they were left laying around. It really just makes him sure he's not supposed to be here.

He forgets that in an instant though.

"I could teach you!" He says. "I'm teaching my friend how to play! He was really b-er not good, but now he's doing better!"

"That'd be amazing!" Now, a part of her felt she should be more concerned about the fact she's in France and has no idea how she got here. But, counterpart, she can practice guitar! Which isn't a cello, but it's good to know, more people like guitar, and it's not as bulky to carry around.

"I'm Maya." Maya put her cello case down and started looking for a guitar she felt would be right for her.

"Oh! That's a cool name!" He says. "I'm Héctor!"

He adjusts the guitar around to hang off his back, then goes to help her look. The trick was finding a guitar their size.

"What do you usually play? Looks big."

Maya practices pronouncing that é a few times after he says his name. Just to get it right.

"Oh, that's my cello. It's kinda a bass violin. At least I have that while I'm here in France for whatever reason."

Maya was still looking through the instruments. Picking up guitars, plucking at the strings to test them. She didn't seem overly worried about being here, just mildly 'put out' by how weird this was. None of it made sense but here she was. She'd just have to go with it.

He smiles wider as she practices his name. It's nice when English people actually try and say his name right instead of saying it like "Jector". He'll answer to both but the effort is really nice.

"Can I see it?" He asks. "I'll be careful." And unlike perhaps most young boys, he really does intend to be. He'd hate to ruin someone's instrument. Just got to find her a guitar first. He holds one out to her that looks good.

"Are we really in France?" He asks, quieter. "That's kind of far from México."

She freezes a little at the request, she was very careful with her cello. It cost a lot a lot and she was far away and it was really her only connection to- well, home. But- he seemed nice, "Be really careful."

She opened the case, letting him make the move, but she was watching. "I guess, it's not Quebec. They speak French weird here." Which is to say they speak it properly compared to the weird linguistic anomoly that is Canadian-French. But she's a child, she can't know her French is weird.

He knew she'd tense up. It's hard for a musician to pass off their instrument so easily. But she does and he smiles her way to show his gratitude.

"Haha, yeah, the Spanish I heard is funny too. But there's not a lot of that either."

True to his word, he takes up the cello like the most delicate thing in the world, cradling it. He stands it upright, letting it lean upon his shoulder. Then, he plucks at the first few strings, drawing out a low sound. He grins at her.

Maya stays within 'baseball slide to save cello from falling' distance, as long as it isn't already on the floor or in its case, "Normally you play it with a bow, not plucking."

She's still smiling, even if he's got no idea what he's doing it's fun to see someone else who likes music as much as her. She's been begging to go to an arts high school when she's old enough but her parents aren't sure she can. And yet somehow she's at some fancy private school in France. "Have you overheard any grown-ups explaining what this place is?"

Maya was terrible at skulking and spying.

His smile turns sheepish. "I've never played anything with a bow. I don't want to break it."

But it would be fun to try. Maybe he can do so gently. He's jut got to hang on to the cello as he tries to find the bow.

Though that question makes him frown. "Mmm. No. I- I can't remember how I got here. I don't remember being asleep either. I was in Santa Cecelia and I was playing outside, in the plaza, and it was night time but I wasn't tired..." Thinking about it makes him feel kind of dizzy. He doesn't like it. "I saw a guy who looked familiar but I didn't know him, so I ran here. Have you heard anything?"
