When You Made Wishes: start! (player plot)

Imagine Wist's surprise when April rolled around and their plan for a great prank was foiled on account of all those students just...leaving??? Truly, they have become the April fool... It's what they wanted, of course -- for the pitiful humans to find freedom -- and sure there are some stragglers around, but...in the end, they decide to take the win and enjoy a short break of their own. Good thing, too, or they might have pulled out all their hair in frustration when Spring Break comes to an end and the swarm of students and faculty willingly return to their prison.

While settling back into the academy and resigning themselves to a routine, the people of Daybreak will be soothed by a gentle tune rising up from the forest. It isn't a song they've heard before, and yet, somehow...it's nostalgic, isn't it? The soft notes of the pan flute stir up something in their hearts, tugging at old memories and drawing forth a feeling of dissatisfaction and longing out from under them. Let the song lull them into taking a moment to withdraw from the hustle and bustle -- hey, turns out they sort of need it. Maybe they're coming down with a cold, or just some quick little bug...

The odd message from an iris account that doesn't exist isn't up for long before the spell kicks into the next phase. However they manifest and from when differs from person to person, but those affected will all have the bizarre experience of watching some ghost of themselves from their past be born from their soul's memory. Don't think there are those that can escape this fate just by returning at a later time, either -- Wist can keep up this panpipe nonsense all day, every day if they have to. If that what it takes to get their point across...

Good luck trying to comprehend whatever point that may be, because now Daybreak is the new home to a bunch of familiar-looking rugrats and has to contend with whatever complications they may bring along with them.

"Delegation..." Mother and Father talk about that all the time. That's the thing where you make people do the stuff you don't want to, right?

Exactly~! If your parents talk about that a lot, they must be powerful people, yes? Now, if you get someone else to build this fort, but make it clear you're in control, it still gets done the way you want it, but you've expended no energy of your own and you get to order people around! Then you can enjoy all the comfort of your fort while your delegates are too tired to do anything! Always aim for the biggest rewards with the least amount of effort!

[Wow. No one ever explained it to him like that before. His mother and father always made it sound like it was about responsibility and making sure not to take on more than you could handle when running a country. This is WAY better.]

I'll pick out some books for us to read while you build the fort!

Well, I would build the fort, but I don't know what you want it to look like~! Maybe you can draw it for me first~!

[Oh my god. Toki was thinking simplistic chairs-and-blanket fort, not medieval castle fortress. With oil somehow. What? He is in way over head here.]

Alright~! We'll find you some crayons, but first~!

[He runs back to the hill, detaches the box from its skateboard base, and returns with said box.]

Do you want to take a really fast ride in the box~!? I'll bring you somewhere amazing~!

[Avery examines the box and then looks back up at Toki]

But it doesn't have wheels anymore. How's it going to go fast?

Well, I have amazing magic powers~!

[Please just get in the box.]

I promise it will be awesome!

[Something seems a little fishy here, but he supposes Toki DID manage to get to him pretty quickly while he was going down the hill. And this is a magic school.]

Okay...

[he reluctantly gets in the box]

[Yes, good. Toki picks up the box. It's more awkward to hold with Avery in it and still see where he's going, but he's on a mission.]

Hang on, Avery-chan~!

[He proceeds to run all over campus until he finds Professor Atchison. Upon locating him, Toki sets the box down at his feet. He will be rid of this delegating gremlin who wants to build medieval castles.]

I-believe-this-is-yours!

Huh?

[Big!Avery peers into the box, only to be met with a smaller, screaming version of himself that is immediately trying to make his escape.]

Nooooooo!!! Toki, don't leave me with the creepy guy!

[the little gremlin is near tears]

[Oh my god, why? Toki slides the box away from Big!Avery to try and lessen the screaming. He crouches by the box and attempts to placate the gremlin.]

He's not creepy, Avery-chan~! He's y- uhh, a very a nice man! He's lonely and sad, and he wants to build forts with you!

[Snatcher rolls his eyes.]

No he's not! He's a jerk and I hate him!

[Snatcher sighs heavily and shakes his head as Avery reaches for Toki.]

[Avery certainly has some things to say about his older self that don't bode well. Toki is apparently stuck with this kid for a while, and it's okay. Because Avery really is a sweet little child thus far, as much as a gremlin can be anyway, and it makes him sad to see him upset. He takes Avery's hand to help him out of the box.]

It's okay! I won't leave you with him!

[He looks up at Snatcher with not quite a glare, because he's afraid of those consequences, but he's clearly displeased.]

Were you mean to him!? What's wrong with you!? He's-

-important! Don't make him hate you! What if there's consequences!?

He locked me in a room!

Only because you'll end up hurting yourself if left alone and won't let me anywhere near you, you little brat!

And he keeps calling me a brat!

Because you are! You stole all my bedsheets and climbed out the window! And don't even get me started on what you did to the Banquet Hall!

[The two mirror one another's posture, hands on their hips as they glare daggers at one another.]

Would you want to be locked in a room!? He only wanted to escape and be free!

[He stops trying to make excuses for Avery because... the two of them are so alike, it's amusing. Snatcher's arguing just like a child, which isn't surprising. Toki did like him because he was immature sometimes.]

Why don't you do something fun together instead of yelling at each other~! What's new in the world that you would have loved to experience as a kid, Professor Atchison~!? You can show him those things~!

[That's... actually a pretty good question, Snatcher thinks. And not one with an easy answer, either. Sort of. His younger self would probably like video games, but he wouldn't be surprised if Ekke had his on lockdown what with all the kids running about.

There was YouTube, but with all the kids video controversies going on with that he's not so sure it would end up being appropriate and he might strangle someone if the kid got into Baby Shark]

[Then he's off to the library to fetch the DVD in question. Two minutes later, he's back with the horrifying film and also assorted snacks. The snacks get dumped in the box and he hands the DVD to Snatcher.]
