When You Made Wishes: start! (player plot)

Imagine Wist's surprise when April rolled around and their plan for a great prank was foiled on account of all those students just...leaving??? Truly, they have become the April fool... It's what they wanted, of course -- for the pitiful humans to find freedom -- and sure there are some stragglers around, but...in the end, they decide to take the win and enjoy a short break of their own. Good thing, too, or they might have pulled out all their hair in frustration when Spring Break comes to an end and the swarm of students and faculty willingly return to their prison.

While settling back into the academy and resigning themselves to a routine, the people of Daybreak will be soothed by a gentle tune rising up from the forest. It isn't a song they've heard before, and yet, somehow...it's nostalgic, isn't it? The soft notes of the pan flute stir up something in their hearts, tugging at old memories and drawing forth a feeling of dissatisfaction and longing out from under them. Let the song lull them into taking a moment to withdraw from the hustle and bustle -- hey, turns out they sort of need it. Maybe they're coming down with a cold, or just some quick little bug...

The odd message from an iris account that doesn't exist isn't up for long before the spell kicks into the next phase. However they manifest and from when differs from person to person, but those affected will all have the bizarre experience of watching some ghost of themselves from their past be born from their soul's memory. Don't think there are those that can escape this fate just by returning at a later time, either -- Wist can keep up this panpipe nonsense all day, every day if they have to. If that what it takes to get their point across...

Good luck trying to comprehend whatever point that may be, because now Daybreak is the new home to a bunch of familiar-looking rugrats and has to contend with whatever complications they may bring along with them.

[Teto's jaw drops slow. Héctor leans right back, looking smug. He holds up his fingers to countdown behind the boy. Three, two, one...]

"What!!?! That's so cool, that's so cool! [Teto bounces, fists clenched tight with excitement.] You beat him up!? You--"

[Héctor's gotten up and stuck a hand over the boy's mouth. He lifts his hand after a second.]

Teto. Sshh. Calmése.

[He jerks a thumb at the sleeping boy. Teto looks sheepish.]

"Oops. Sorry."

[Huh. If he'd known he'd get that kind of reaction, he would have gone with a story like this ages ago.

Would have saved him a lot of trouble back in his forest, that's for sure.]

Heh. Glad someone's appreciative. He won't even let me get in a word edgewise to explain. And then he runs off, gets himself in trouble, nearly ends up hurt... And guess who ends up getting the blame? Me.

It's completely unfair, I tell you.

[Teto listens. At first he looks sympathetic. And then he starts to think that maybe Señor Atchison really is worried about Avery. And then his head tilts, confused.]

But... why would they blame you?

[Héctor looks from Teto to Avery, face blank. He... doesn't have a good lie ready. You're on your own here, amigo.]

[He shrugs]

Because someone's decided that I'm the guy to keep an eye on him. Also the whole, you know, teacher thing.

[Teto thinks, then nods. He can accept that.

He shuffles in place though, hands fidgeting together and shoulders hiking.]

It's... maybe not all Avery's fault either. We've been playing... but I wasn't doing anything to get him hurt! Honest!

[he stares off into the distance. You can practically hear The Sound of Silence playing in the background.]

Pretty sure most of the things he's gotten up to already weren't your idea, kiddo.

Um... well... maybe some of them were...

[Teto does not know the full extent of all Avery's done. For that matter, he doesn't completely have the courage to take the blame entirely. He rubs at his arm.]

I guess I can try and tell him you're not so bad. But I don't think it's your fault anyway.

[That earns a snicker from him]

What can I say? I'm positively terrifying.

[He's not trying to intimidate anyone now, however. Mostly he's just amused.]

I mean for the trouble. [He pauses.]

But you do look pretty spooky. Maybe you could wear something silly to be less scary. Like flowers.
