When You Made Wishes: start! (player plot)

Imagine Wist's surprise when April rolled around and their plan for a great prank was foiled on account of all those students just...leaving??? Truly, they have become the April fool... It's what they wanted, of course -- for the pitiful humans to find freedom -- and sure there are some stragglers around, but...in the end, they decide to take the win and enjoy a short break of their own. Good thing, too, or they might have pulled out all their hair in frustration when Spring Break comes to an end and the swarm of students and faculty willingly return to their prison.

While settling back into the academy and resigning themselves to a routine, the people of Daybreak will be soothed by a gentle tune rising up from the forest. It isn't a song they've heard before, and yet, somehow...it's nostalgic, isn't it? The soft notes of the pan flute stir up something in their hearts, tugging at old memories and drawing forth a feeling of dissatisfaction and longing out from under them. Let the song lull them into taking a moment to withdraw from the hustle and bustle -- hey, turns out they sort of need it. Maybe they're coming down with a cold, or just some quick little bug...

The odd message from an iris account that doesn't exist isn't up for long before the spell kicks into the next phase. However they manifest and from when differs from person to person, but those affected will all have the bizarre experience of watching some ghost of themselves from their past be born from their soul's memory. Don't think there are those that can escape this fate just by returning at a later time, either -- Wist can keep up this panpipe nonsense all day, every day if they have to. If that what it takes to get their point across...

Good luck trying to comprehend whatever point that may be, because now Daybreak is the new home to a bunch of familiar-looking rugrats and has to contend with whatever complications they may bring along with them.

[His eyes go wide and he looks at the platter. He's already made a thorough mess of it stuffing his face, but...]

So, I won't get kicked out?

Yeah, you won't get kicked out. [He points to himself.] And if you want, you can sit my me and I'll fend off anyone who gives you a problem.

[Not that Yuya expects there to be one. This is happening a lot, apparently, and students come as young as Akechi anyway.]

[He slowly edges out from under the table, still clinging to his platter.]

Promise?

Mm-hm. Promise.

[He moves over a little to give Akechi the space to slide out from under the table.] I'm Yuya.

[Scoot scoot. When he stands up, he's...noticeably short for otherwise looking like he's close to his preteen years. Especially considering the teenager he resembles is on the tall side by Japanese standards.]

My name's Goro Akechi.

Nice to meet you, Akechi. [It's a bit formal for a kid younger than him, but that was older Akechi's preference and he doesn't look as young as some of the other kids.

Yuya gets to his feet, waiting for Akechi before leading him back to where Yuya was eating his lunch.] How do you like the school?

It's...different. I've never been to a school where students could stay all the time...or where they could eat all they wanted.

[hippocarnival]

[Yuya nods as he digs his fork back into his food.] The school is really prestigious... which also means they're really rich, so they can afford to do stuff like that. Before I came here, I went to a normal school in Japan.

[He glances up and down.] I was about your age when I started here, so you'll fit right in!

There are a lot of adults around, though...

[He's...eating right off his stolen platter. He seems more interested in quantity than variety.]

Yeah. I mean, besides the professors they teach elementary grades all the way up to college. Since people start getting involved in the supernatural world at any age.

[Yuya, on his side, keeps eating around he's chewing. Shouldn't he set a better example for manners to a younger kid?] There's still a lot of kids your age you can make friends with.

Mm...maybe.

[He seems kind of wary, almost.]

People are usually assholes, though.

You think so? [Yuya raises an eyebrow.] Why's that?

Most people treat me like shit because I'm...um...

[If he's Japanese, he might not respond well to the illegitimacy part. But he doesn't know yet, so...]

I'm not the kind of kid people want.

[hippocarnival]

Well... I think you'll find it'll be a lot different here. [He offers a soft smile.] The people here are really nice.

[foolishjustice]

I've seen people act nice and then change completely when they find out the things wrong with me.

[hippocarnival]

We're not the most normal people anyway. [He waves his hand.]

Y-you're sure they won't resent me if they find out why I'm not wanted?

[hippocarnival]

I'm sure that I won't. And I'm sure I'm not the only one. A lot of people here know what it's like to stick out, you know?
