When You Made Wishes: start! (player plot)
Imagine Wist's surprise when April rolled around and their plan for a great prank was foiled on account of all those students just...leaving??? Truly, they have become the April fool... It's what they wanted, of course -- for the pitiful humans to find freedom -- and sure there are some stragglers around, but...in the end, they decide to take the win and enjoy a short break of their own. Good thing, too, or they might have pulled out all their hair in frustration when Spring Break comes to an end and the swarm of students and faculty willingly return to their prison.
While settling back into the academy and resigning themselves to a routine, the people of Daybreak will be soothed by a gentle tune rising up from the forest. It isn't a song they've heard before, and yet, somehow...it's nostalgic, isn't it? The soft notes of the pan flute stir up something in their hearts, tugging at old memories and drawing forth a feeling of dissatisfaction and longing out from under them. Let the song lull them into taking a moment to withdraw from the hustle and bustle -- hey, turns out they sort of need it. Maybe they're coming down with a cold, or just some quick little bug...

Why did you come back? You don't have to live like this.
Weren't things better back then? Try to remember what it used to be like.

The odd message from an iris account that doesn't exist isn't up for long before the spell kicks into the next phase. However they manifest and from when differs from person to person, but those affected will all have the bizarre experience of watching some ghost of themselves from their past be born from their soul's memory. Don't think there are those that can escape this fate just by returning at a later time, either -- Wist can keep up this panpipe nonsense all day, every day if they have to. If that what it takes to get their point across...
Good luck trying to comprehend whatever point that may be, because now Daybreak is the new home to a bunch of familiar-looking rugrats and has to contend with whatever complications they may bring along with them.

Oh dear.
But Teto is being proud and oblivious and smug, and Maverick can offer him a smirk in return and roll his eyes. Yeah yeah, kid. Take your wins where you can get 'em. Silent communication over, he takes his arms out from behind his head and raises them high for applause.]
Not bad, for some old has-been. Can't say I'd mind hearing another while I get all this shhtuff cleaned up, if I'm being honest.
[His foot can probably take it, now...]

[He repeats it with mock offense.]
"Nobody asks a has-been for an encore."
[He grins.
Nice save on the swear there too.]
"But since it's your request, lets see... How about a cover this time? Instrumental."
[There's a glint of mischief in Héctor's eye. He knows he has this. He also knows that at least one here doesn't have a clue what's coming.
His fingers race over the strings then and Teto, watching the speed of them in that intro, feels his jaw drop. Héctor grins wider.]

this
ASSHOLE
His eyes widen a moment as he freezes in getting up, then he quickly gets back to business cleaning the area. Ricky's pretty amazed by the performance, leaning in with wonder, which of course does nothing to help Mav try to play this one off. Stupid jerk!!! He sucks.]

Maverick on the other hand has an odd look like he tried something sour. Oh well, he did try. He's having fun anyway.
Maybe too much fun. When the song comes to its end he sighs and releases the guitar back to Teto.]
"Here you go. I think I'm done for the night."
[The boy looks from him, to the guitar, to Ricky and all the wonder on him, and then back.]
Can you teach me to play that too?
"Tell you what. You try and learn first on your own. If you can't do it, I'll teach you. How about you, Ricky? You having fun?"

Maverick sighs and puts his hands on his hips in mock-admonishment. Kids these days and their techwisdom.]
You're supposed to be a weasel, not a rat.
[The boy blinks up at him cluelessly. Okay???? What did he do...]
Never mind. Old man's right, you two, you need to think about wrapping it up.
no subject
Awesome!
[Wait what? He looks up at Maverick, confused.]
Ricky's not a rat! Or a weasel. Ricky's nice and cool!
"Ay, Teto, come on. It's probably some joke. Like the ones me and you have. Now, it's time to go. Some people need to sleep."
Aw, but...
[The boy pouts, but spins the guitar around to his back by the strap, then going over to hug Ricky goodbye. He reaches a hand out for Héctor's but doesn't speak to him.]
I can come back, right? Tomorrow?
no subject
Whatever. Better than you f -- wandering off. If Señor R's fine with it, why should I care?
[Especially if they can get a decent night of sleep, after this. Ugh, that'd be so good. Please, please, please no baby night terrors...]
no subject
He grins down at Teto.]
"Sounds like a yes to me."
YES! [He waves to the other boy as they go.] Bye Ricky! ¡Buenas Noches! ¡Que duermas bien! And- and you too, Maverick!
[Héctor pauses part way.] "Ah, right. Thank you, again, for finding him, Maverick."
no subject
Yeah, yeah.
[He gives a sarcastic salute with his first two fingers, trying not to study Héctor too closely and muse about how much better he looked like this. He still wants to punch the guy, dangit. There's no time for that warm contentment in his heart at seeing things work out for the better.]
Don't let him go back to being such a buzzkill, kid, alright? We'll see you.
