When You Made Wishes: start! (player plot)

Imagine Wist's surprise when April rolled around and their plan for a great prank was foiled on account of all those students just...leaving??? Truly, they have become the April fool... It's what they wanted, of course -- for the pitiful humans to find freedom -- and sure there are some stragglers around, but...in the end, they decide to take the win and enjoy a short break of their own. Good thing, too, or they might have pulled out all their hair in frustration when Spring Break comes to an end and the swarm of students and faculty willingly return to their prison.

While settling back into the academy and resigning themselves to a routine, the people of Daybreak will be soothed by a gentle tune rising up from the forest. It isn't a song they've heard before, and yet, somehow...it's nostalgic, isn't it? The soft notes of the pan flute stir up something in their hearts, tugging at old memories and drawing forth a feeling of dissatisfaction and longing out from under them. Let the song lull them into taking a moment to withdraw from the hustle and bustle -- hey, turns out they sort of need it. Maybe they're coming down with a cold, or just some quick little bug...

The odd message from an iris account that doesn't exist isn't up for long before the spell kicks into the next phase. However they manifest and from when differs from person to person, but those affected will all have the bizarre experience of watching some ghost of themselves from their past be born from their soul's memory. Don't think there are those that can escape this fate just by returning at a later time, either -- Wist can keep up this panpipe nonsense all day, every day if they have to. If that what it takes to get their point across...

Good luck trying to comprehend whatever point that may be, because now Daybreak is the new home to a bunch of familiar-looking rugrats and has to contend with whatever complications they may bring along with them.

[Teto smiles wide. It's not without nervousness, this is still pretty scary, but he believes what Stan says and is pretty sure this all means he can trust him. It lets him relax just a little bit.]

I've never had a friend who wasn't human before. I didn't even know things like you were real. This is pretty cool. Um. I guess I'll play more music for you, but are there other things you like to do?

[What else does it like to do? In Stan's experience, there's not a ton of things to do.]

Eat. [.....] I saw some stars happen once.

[At first he just laughs a little. That's a pretty monster-y thing to say. Enough so that he does have the sense not to ask what things.

And he forgets that entirely within seconds.]

Wait. You mean like... night time? Or... [No. No way.] like they appeared?

[eudaimonikos]

They appeared. On fire.

[Well, they're always on fire. That's the point of stars.]

When is night time?

[His eyes widen. His jaw drops and slowly his face lights with a grin of wonder. He bounces on his feet.]

Stan, that's super cool!! That's like one of the coolest things ever!!

[But night time? How does he explain night time? Dark just isn't good enough. He grips the strap of his guitar and waves Stan forward.]

Come on! I'll show you night time!

[He wasn't sure he was going to be able to get out of here alive. He guesses this is one way to do it.]

[Stan gives a mental shrug and roils after Teto. They're just still moving forward on the same timeline as they were before, but it guesses that sure is one way to reach a different time.]

[They reach the doors and Teto pushes them open wide, grabbing one to hold it and let Stan out. With that, he steps out a bit further onto the grass and gestures up and out to the sky above and the world around.]

Ta-da! Night time! That means you can see the stars and the moon! And you can tell which ones you saw appear!

[...oh, that's just being able to see everything. Mildly disappointing.]

That close star is hidden. It was too bright. [Not necessarily for it, just to see the other stars.] Not sure which ones they were from here. Lots of planets up there.

Yeah, it goes away at night. But it's really warm and feels nice when it comes up in the daytime.

[He's not sure what he likes more, nighttime or daytime. But the stars are out now and he stares up at them trying to imagine what it'd be like to watch them pop into existence.]

There's eight other planets, I think! And some of them look like stars! [Though that gets him curious, tilting his head at Stan.] Have you been to another planet? Or just Earth?

Seen them. Not much there.

[It's stayed for a while before, to watch magma, but that gets old eventually. And once you've seen one primordial crucible, you've seen them all.]

Oh...

[He'd thought it would be cool, but that's kind of disappointing.]

I guess I thought, if it's somewhere new, it has to be fun. What about here? Do you like this planet?
