When: The week after zombie mission and Gwen's arrival.

Fixer-Upper (Aube Floor 3)

[ Multiple midnight dumpster runs later, Peter finally has a decent collection of stuff to work on here. The common room on the third floor of Aube has been temporarily taken over by junk and tools, which have been loosely sorted into different piles. Here's a bunch of electronic parts. Here's some casings that seem mostly intact. These are screens, that appears to be a pile of ancient game console tidbits... The biggest item is an old CRT TV that is just wrecked. But - it's not what he's working on right this second. No, he seems to be focused on multiple funny-looking bracelets laid out on a cloth. He's had at least three requests for webshooters by now, and he aims to get them done today. Also, finally fix the one that Kano busted.

See what he's up to? Yell at him for taking up all the space? Or maybe if you ask him nicely, he'll build something fun for you.

In this prompt (as well as all of the others!) Peter has a fresh set of claw marks on his face. The cuts are clean and healing nicely, but obviously very fresh. Someone ran into something nasty lately. ]

STARR Club

[ Who the hell was dumb enough to let Peter start a club again? Oh wait, this is technically Gohan's fault probably. Though honestly, it's safer than just letting all these technically inclined idiots blow up their dorm room or something.

The STARR Club (Science, Technology And Runes/Robotics) was technically up and running in the first few days of school. Pete's definitely been in and out doing stuff. But now? It's officially, definitely open, and Peter is heading up the first meeting. He's. Frankly a bit overwhelmed? Please someone else take this over so he can go back to making webshooters in the corner like he actually wants to do. ]

So uh - I guess we need rules? Or something? To be official.

Soleil, Returning Late

[ Of course that just covers the daytime activities. At night ... Peter tries to sleep, he really does, but inevitably he wakes up at some point and just needs to leave. Swing out to Soleil, get some fresh air come back at an ungodly hour, whatever. Today he's donned his hobo spider suit to go foil some midnight muggings in the local town. He's also taking a swing through campus too, so maybe you see this mysterious Spider-Man out and about?

Or, perhaps worse, you catch him just as he's sneaking back into Aube at 3 AM. The suit is tucked away, but he definitely is sneaking through the hallways up to his room, trying not to look guilty. ]

Spider Astronomy - CLOSEDish

[ Whose idea was this again? It doesn't really matter, honestly; Peter would have been up here regardless and the other two spider kids are nerdy enough this likely appealed to them too. Early in the morning of January 21st, Peter sneaks his way up to the roof of the Aube dorms, carrying a duffel bag full of junk with him. It's cold, as always, but the night is clear, and they have a perfect view of the moon. Pete's here to set up some blankets, put together the world's worst telescope, and watch the lunar eclipse with Gwen and Miles. He's even gotten a couple thermoses full of hot soup from the kitchen. ]

D'you think the faculty does some kind of weird blood moon ritual or something for this?

[ It wouldn't surprise him, honestly. This place is weird enough already.

Of course if you're up on the roof at about the same time (doing the same thing, maybe!) it wouldn't be hard to run into the trio. ]

And then he laughs.] Ah... HHAHAHAHAHA..! The 'carebear'..! Yes! It is me- Gongenzaka! [He laughs, before sinking back into the concern/panic state.] Th-That aside, this still appears rather dangerous..!! And-

[Now that there's not as much soot on Peter's face, are those...] Did...something happen to your face, Peter?

[It's not quite as easy to see how bad or not bad certain injuries are right now.]

Gongenzaka, yeah! Sorry. I meant to say that instead.

[ But he's glad Gon was entertained by the accidental nickname. Hopefully he can remember the dude's name better going forward.

Anyway, he swipes at his face again, blinking a little at Gon. Those are definitely claw marks, yes. Fresh by the looks of them. It takes him a moment to realize that no, Gon doesn't mean the black gunk. ]

Oh. Uh. My best friend showed up, which was great, but then we were attacked by ...

[ He's talking to a bear. Don't say bear, Peter. Don't say bear. ]

It is fine..! Having attended for a while, here... ...It is somehow better than when people insist in shortening my name... [He admits, grimacing a little.

He stares as the marks clear a little- eyes widening at the sight- and then...] B-BEARS?!

[What!] Mu-Multiple, even!? And you are unharmed, other than this!? [He exclaims with a choke.] More-over, that there are bears at all, is a great worry!!

We do not see bears here!! Where was this? Is your friend also alright??

[STOP HIM,]

[ Oh no Gon, please don't panic. Peter winces, instantly guilty that his lie is upsetting Gon this much. Which, of course it would! Think, Peter. Be nicer to your new lycan friend. ]

I'm fine, I'm fine! This is all that happened. And Gwen's completely fine.

[ He rubs at the scar a bit, as if to show that it's totally fine. See? No bleeding, decently healed, etc. etc. ]

I have no idea where they even came from, but they went away afterwards, so maybe they were just lost?

Bears are very rare in this area of Europe, Peter..! It is incredibly concerning that they are simply roaming, and attacking for that matter..! [He wheezes, shaking his head.] They are not like blighted creatures- they are normal animals, who keep to themselves, unless threatened, and-

[Wait back up-] ...Gwen is your friend?

[That sounds a bit like 'Goo-ren' with the accent...he's trying...]

[ He should have known better than to lie to the werebear about bears. Good god. Of course Gon would be a font of Bear Facts. Quick, time to latch onto the easier topic. ]

Yeah, Gwen! We go way back. I guess she's going to school here now.

That is wonderful! I spoke with her not long ago, at the Mythril Cage...she is a wonderful person! Ah-

[ Dammit, he was so close. He keeps rubbing at the scarred spot, but there's no way he's just going to rub it out of existence with his hand. He really ought to find Orihime or someone and get it taken care of completely. ]

[ And he knows it'll attract attention for being obviously fake. ]

No!! [PETER OF ALL THE THINGS NOT TO LIE ABOUT] Even if this were not a supernatural school...this should absolutely, be reported..!

What if another is attacked..!?

[ Urgh now there's real guilt in his face. Héctor had said much the same thing, hadn't he? Except, now Peter's thinking about the possibility of Gwen attacking other people... He swallows a bit. ]

They won't attack anyone else, okay? I'm sure of it.

[And...cue immediate understanding and Failure to understand.

A wash of guilt- terror, concern, and familiar guilt comes over him, and it takes a while to speak.] Some...one did this, [He manages, and from there his guesses move from correct to not.] Someone...another were...

[Why else after all would there be this business of bears?]

[ That's ... close enough, probably. Even if it makes Gon go on a wild bear hunt as a result. He's really, really sorry in advance Gon, but he has to keep Gwen out of this. Or at least let her tell people about clawing up Peter's face if she wants to. On her own terms. ]

... Yeah. You got me. But I swear they won't hurt anyone else. This is a one time thing.

[For a moment, he is simply frozen- that same fear and concern stuck on his face for his own reasons, memories running back to when he was barely 11, after the flurry of fur and haze of red had become seeing his friend on his front in a hospital bed. He swallows.]

Have they been treated? ...Blighted wounds, they often carry the curse...so I must ask, [he manages,] have they been treated..? Do...

Do they understand, as well, this other lycan... ...what could happen, now, or if they come close to such a...a 'slip', again..?

[ That's actually a really legitimate concern? Based on what he sensed and whatever Gwen had provided by way of explanation, he's fairly certain that he'd been dealing with some kind of weird daemon and not actual slime lycanthropy or something. But. He doesn't actually know of the symbiote is contagious? Maybe he really should get this checked out. The marks are already deeper and lasting longer than most other similar wounds.

Deep breaths. He looks a little frightened, honestly. Definitely a question he needs to ask Gwen later. ]

They - they know. But I haven't seen anyone to check them out. Maybe I should.

[ He feels along the most ragged one, which split his lip and still aches dimly. ]

To know, and to understand, are different things, Peter, [he emphasizes.] That they understand, it is...

[He shakes himself, looking somewhat ashamed.] ...Forgive me- I should not assume, or press. It is...a matter close to past experience, [he admits vaguely. There is a pause as he looks away, unable to quite meet the other's eyes for a moment.The matter of the scars snaps him out of the quiet haze.] ...Whether they are or are not infected then, runic treatment or treatment of another sort is necessary- so long as an infected victim has not yet transformed, it can be reversed. It is better to be safe, rather than...cursed, yes?

[ Gon is right, unfortunately. Even if he's sure this won't infect him - he ought to check, right? Who knows how black slime daemon might interact with his blighted blood. For all he knows he's carrying some kind of grossness in his system that neither he nor Gwen know a damn thing about.

Sigh. Another useless face scrub. ]

I guess so. As long as they don't freak out about the blight already in my blood.

Well, if necessary, I at least am trained in the method, so-

[ He's gonna loop back to that offer, because he's absolutely going to take Gon up on it, but first -- ]

Huh? Oh, yeah. I got bit by a blighted spider about six months ago. It's in my blood for good now.

[ A beat. ]

But I don't transform to a werespider or something.

Th- Considering that is, the expected result, I am quite amazed..!! [He chokes, still wheezing a little with his words.]

Mnn...given something like that...I do not know if my dojo's runes would be safe now however...I do not know if it would interfere...

Auh...but, if not a werespider, then...what was the result? The other typical outcome...it would be death, with blight involved...

Huh? Why wouldn't they be safe?

[ If Gon has runes to remove Peter's blight then phew, yeah, that's a hideously bad idea. He'd rather not lose his powers or potentially die. ]

Uh - well, it gave me spider powers. I'm strong, I stick to things, and I can sense danger. Also my vision is super messed up.

Hnnn...so they are traits, rather than a curse...

I have never met someone, for whom this is the case, so it is surprising... [Has he said that? He definitely did. Anyway.] Mn-

To be cured of lycanthropy, the blight which caused the curse, must be banished, yes? The runic treatment therefore, banishes such things.

...therefore... I do not know, if it would only target a recent infection, or what other blight there is...

[He swallows.] ...And there is a reason, why it is only effective on those who have yet transformed...

[ Oh. Shit. Yeah, he makes a face at that. He doesn't particularly want to risk losing his powers just because he's worried about being infected by Gwen. Now he's swung back around to not seeking any medical help for this at all. ]

Why is it only effective on people who haven't transformed?

Because it is not yet part of them, [he replies darkly.] It is why it has no effect upon those like me, who are 'born' lycanthropes- the blight is tied to our being, and cannot be safely taken without killing us in the process.

As such...that is not a risk I am willing to take.

[ Ah. Peter sort of pales at that. ]

So no getting any anti-lycanthropy treatement, huh.

Auh...not necessarily!

I do not know for certain...but mage techniques, could perhaps, target specific strains? Or perhaps even rune techniques I do not know!
