Who: Adelaide & You!
When: Various times in October
What: Listen, everything’s fine, and no mistakes are being made at all. Also Aube has too much food.
Where: Campus, Soleil.
Warnings: Mentions of blood & alcohol in the Soleil prompt.
campus;
[So far, being a member of the student council isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Sure, she knew there was going to be a lot of math involved, and she doesn’t mind it, but she minds the talking sword. She minds it a lot - it’s really kind of annoying, the way it nags her about money constantly. She has to admit her spending habits have changed since being gifted with the rapier, and she’s not sure how she feels about that.
There’s also the fact that wherever she goes in uniform there’s a trail of yellow rose petals left in her wake. She can’t really get around without being noticed anymore, because the petals are so invasive. She doesn’t even know what to do with them - will they disappear on their own? Should she use them for something? She’s unsure.
Either way, rules are rules and she has to wear her uniform on campus, so she’s a beacon of fiscal responsibility more days than not.]
aube;
[It’s not quite a daily occurrence, but it’s still pretty common to find Adelaide in the kitchen. She’s as prolific a baker as always, and she spends much of her free time baking up something for people to enjoy. She doesn’t have quite as much time to run a stand, what with classes started up again and her new responsibilities, but her dormmates will find the dorm well-stocked with any sort of baked good they could imagine.
Some days when she’s baking she seems...well. Stressed out. Her hair is a mess, and her movements are jerky and uncoordinated like she’s in a rush, and sometimes there’ll be a grimace on her face. She’s...Well. Trying to seem like she’s not bothered, though.]
soleil;
[This may have been...a mistake. A grave mistake, some could say. She’s not really sure what compelled her to go out to town tonight, but it’s probably because she’s lonely. She could go seek out company with someone she already knows - go talk to Maverick, or go check in on Rex, or maybe ask if Lia wanted to make something - but she doesn’t do that. Instead, she goes out to Soleil and finds herself in a bar.
She can’t get drunk the traditional way. She gets nothing by going to a bar, except...Well.
Just this once won’t hurt, right? She’s not going to kill anyone and she’s pretty sure the guy eyeing her up won’t mind. Just one bite won’t hurt.]
Ah, fuck.
[She pushes herself upright, stepping into the crowd at the bar. She’s really going to do this, huh?]
soleil part 2;
[She’s pleasantly buzzed, and wobbles a bit when she walks. She’s left the bar for the streets, and the guilt hasn’t quite set in yet. She can still taste the blood on her tongue, and she’s surprised it was as potent as it is.
Huh. Maybe she should be concerned about that. But she isn’t.
She laughs to herself, looking up at the stars and stretching her arms above her head. She should...head back to campus.]
wildcard;

daintily!]

[The reason she's not taking him home is because he's currently passed out in an alleyway with some bandages stuck to his neck. It's fine. He'll live.
She blushes, though, shaking her head.]
It's really not! You're very handsome, Mav. [She leans in conspiratorially.] But you don't need me to stroke your ego!
no subject
Nah. You're right, I shouldn't take advantage of your loose fucking tongue when we all know I'm hot shit anyway.
no subject
Instead she just laughs as her face gets pushed, leaning back.]
We all know you're the best around. In everything!
[The worst part is she's being sincere.]
no subject
If he wasn't so goddamn short he'd keep pursuing with his hand, but eventually she's out of reach unless he wants to risk his balance. Better to fold his arms behind his head and give her a dopey, though now slightly embarrassed, grin.]
Eeeeverything... Damn, girl, you are drunk.
no subject
Her laughter dies down a bit, but she's still rather giggly as she looks at Maverick.]
I don't need to be drunk to think you're as amazing as you are.
[Gosh.]
...though maybe it makes it easier to say.
no subject
Ridiculous... One, because your standards are fucked, and two? You can tell me anything you fucking want, Bumble. Don't we always say we're a good pair? Partners gotta listen to each other.
no subject
My standards aren't fucked! They're good standards! [She will defend herself to the ends of time. Maverick and Rex as Troubled, But Good.
At the second bit, though, a shadow passes over her face.]
Yeah...anything, huh?
no subject
[They're Awful, Adelaide??? You're just weird.
His smile falls, and he leans forward so he can look back up to her face. He doesn't like it all thoughtful about unhappy thoughts like that. He loses the teasing tone and cautiously reaches out his hand to brush his knuckles against Adelaide's.]
Yeah, anything. I say what I fucking mean.
no subject
She lets out a laugh, but it's a bitter thing. She shakes her head.]
I think there's some things I can't tell you. You'd...hate me for them.
no subject
Hey. I'm not gonna fucking hate you. [But...mm. It does make him think. He really needs to tell her, doesn't he?] If anything, I'm the one that's gonna fuck this up.
no subject
[She wobbles in place, but she's firm in this much, at least. She has no idea what Maverick could do or could have done to make her hate him. She's the one who's been lying this whole time. She's the one who's a monster.]
no subject
[And to know what he knows, but not let anyone else know... Having Héctor support him had already been wishing for too much. He couldn't possibly be that lucky again, could he? Especially now that they're not even working under the assumption that he's dead. That had really worked in his favor, he's pretty sure.]
I'm not gonna make you talk about this, especially when you can't even walk in a straight line, but I... I fucking dunno.
no subject
[The truth would be easier, if Maverick was just a stranger. If she didn't care about what he thinks of her. But she does, and that makes things hard.
She shakes her head.]
Later. We can...talk about this later.
[Or never, preferably.]
no subject
Yeah. Let’s just get you home and sleeping this off, okay? Sorry for being a fucking downer.
no subject
[She's quick to come to his defense, squeezing his hand.]
I'm just...I'm just sorry, you know? That things are like this.
no subject
Yeah, yeah. That's not your fault, though, that's life. And besides, if we're not gonna fucking talk about it right now, there's no sense in harpin' on about the woeful bits. Why not tell me about the guy that's not as handsome as me, but was nice enough to buy you a drink, huh? Or about how things are going with Grim Creeper?
no subject
She nods, slowly.]
Things with Rex are...I don't know. They're complicated and weird? I don't know what he wants from me. I don't know what he thinks about me - like, is he just tolerating me, or does he actually care? He said he'd be willing to have sex with me if I wanted it, but...
I don't know.
no subject
[REX WHY ARE YOU SO STUPID ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS]
I guess that doesn't actually fucking surprise me, but still... Anyway, just tolerating's you out. Me, he tolerates, just barely. You're way too good to be on that level. [With a sigh, his voice lowers to almost a mumble.] Fucking dumbass, not letting you know how much you matter, sex or not...
no subject
[Ugh. Why does she even like him!!]
I don't...think he knows how to deal with people. But. I don't know. I guess it's not really that important to him...
[Geez.]
no subject
Gotta say, Bumble... With how he's stringing you along like this, not only is the mystique of his giant spookydick not worth it, but I have half a mind to fucking kick the damn thing in. [treating his perfect girl like this, gosh!!]
no subject
I don't know if that would help.
[Despite herself, she laughs at the idea.]
no subject
Nah. Probably not, no. Pretty sure that thing's more a weak spot in combat than anything else, for him. You know I sparred with him and his first fucking words to me were about not hitting his dick? Without that, I wouldn't fucking know he actually had one.
no subject
[smh]
But...I don't know. I don't want him to decide I'm not enough for him.
no subject
[IMAGINE IT, HOW GLORIOUS
Without letting go, he leans in and nudges Adelaide again, but this time with his full body and not just the elbow. Come on, back to teasing words!]
Being fair to you, that asshole's a fucking giant. The standards of what's "enough" for a guy that goddamn fucking tall is probably skewed as shit. Case in point, I'm shorter than you and I think you're way more than enough, probably almost too fucking much for me to handle. Almost.
no subject
[And that would be EVEN MORE glorious.
That pulls another laugh out of her, at least, and she nudges him back.]
I think you could handle me just fine.
