*Her power stops blanketing the room in silence after just a few moments. It was enough time to get attention but her power doesn't last, not when she's silently screaming like she was. She flinches away from contact. She's aware, but she still looks- off. There isn't as much fight in her as she should have.*

*That thought just sorta ends in the way that Maya's thoughts usually end when she tries to say them and realizes she shouldn't.*

I- it just keeps happening. I'm halfway across the world and-

*Yeah, sadly Maya's still very used to them. The bad brain. She's slowly putting all the thoughts and tricks her therapist had given her before she left Canada. She's breathing a little calmer now (not that her breathing makes any noise). But it's still there. She met both of them, and now they fell off a roof.*

I lost som- someone I cared about- he- he was sick, and always sad. And he hated his life. But before he- he did that- he threw himself off a staircase to break his arm- and-

*Yeah that thing about Maya's breathing calming down, yeah that's gone. Trying to explain why she's freaking out has made her freak out more. Good job breaking all the progress you made.*

[ Oh. Oh, okay. He thinks he sees the shape of what's going on now. Of course he's also messed up what progress he's made, but. ]

I could hear it. It was- terrifying, and dark. And around him.

*She's not been like this for days, or months, this has been her for years. Sure, she didn't know what it was, that it was a demonic influence. But it made her skin crawl when she could feel it. Her radiance could push it back, but never get rid of it.*

I hear things, remember. I couldn't-

[ Oh, right. Her ability to hear stuff. He should have figured it would be something like that. That ... makes him wince with all too much sympathy. To know you could have done something - legitimately know it, and yet do nothing - that hits too close to home. ]

Every time I could hear something I tried. I just- I never did enough.

So I know what I'm hearing is a demon influencing things. Or when some monster is coming. Or any other crazy thing that's out there.

Instead of just knowing something's wrong, and not being able to do anything.

Yeah. I get it. When you have powers like this, and then the bad things happen ... it's basically your fault.

Do people get hurt around you too, just because... they were nearby? Is that why you had that stupid costume and goggles?

It's not - look, that's not the point. I'm strong and I have all this stuff going on, right? So - when I can't use it to help people, it's my fault.

Cam, he was only the first- no, second. I failed a lot of people cause what I can do, I didn't know how to help with it.
