Who: Yuya, people invited to his birthday
When: March 1
Where: Dresden, Germany
What: Yuya goes on a birthday excursion for with everyone he invited and who also talked their way into an invitation
Warnings: None probably?? Play nice

Yuya spends the few days leading up to the first of March in a barely contained excitement as he plots out how to best use the school's helicopter transport, deliver word of mouth invites, and set a time to celebrate his 15th. Ultimately it's decided that because the trip is a few hours to make it a day event, with the helicopters taking off early and returning late into the night. Sticking with the group is probably advisable, although with so much time it's expected some people will wander. Yuya just wants a day to spend with his friends, instead of doing anything intricate.

The early hours are largely spent touring and window shopping, taking long walks through the markets, sampling food, or appreciating the rich art history on display. There's a lot of museums, parks, and it's the bright clear day. Chilly, though, so hopefully everyone brought jackets.

In the afternoon, they can hitch a ride on one of the paddle streamers along the river Elbe. It's a few hours of tour that takes them by the castles. The tickets aren't too expensive, but if someone can't afford it Yuya will spend some of his own money to spot them the ticket.

After the sun starts to wane and the temperature drop, it's off to warmer places. For those with the cash to spend, there's an opera house they might be able to catch a show at. Otherwise, the plan is to crowd up in some bakery-style restaurant for dinner and cake.

A. LET'S GO SHOPPING!

[Nana is definitely down for shopping. At the moment, she's making her way through the market. It's probably no great surprise that the girl who loves to bake is... well... going for the places with all the fresh ingredients. She's looking over stalls selling both baked goods -- streudel! -- and the ones selling the raw ingredients, from produce to chocolate.

She looks happy. This is really exciting. Nana is gleefully looking down at some of it.]

Ah, this looks so good...! I didn't bring enough shopping bags. [She has two. And her trusty backpack.]

B. LET'S EXPLORE A CASTLE

[Nana loves castles. She could say it's for school-related reasons -- seeing famous landmarks and ancient construction is a good way to expand her repertoire of what she can make with her powers -- but it's just a love for that sort of scenery.

Which is why she's standing in line.

...again. She just did this tour already. She still bounces with excitement, as she looks up at a big, imposing medieval castle with unmasked excitement all over her face.]

C. ALLES GUTE ZUM GERBURTSTAG; closed to Yuya

[All told, Nana spent most of the day with Yuya. Yuya's her best friend -- and while she broke off a few times to do something (like shopping), she was here to spend it with him.

It's on the way to the restaurant that she catches up with him. She takes a quick, long step and then ends up walking at his side. Nana peers down (...a lot of the way down, given their difference in height) and beams.]

Having fun?

[Yuya looks up from scrolling through the pictures on his phone--scenery and selfies with friends--and gives Nana a wide grin. He's been enthusiastic about spending the day with her and everyone else, so he probably already knows, but he nods in confirmation anyway.]

Yeah! I'm really glad everyone came, it's been great.

[Nana smiles, nodding her head. It's been a lot of fun (leaving the helicopter incident this morning aside, AS IT SHOULD BE). She looks genuinely happy, as she looks down at the ground for a moment, while she walks.]

What was your favorite part?

[She fishes around a little in her backpack while she talks. Looking for... something?]

[Yuya will never bring up the helicopter incident, he will pretend he did not hear a damn thing.

He laughs.] I can't pick a favorite part that easily! I guess the boat and the castles were the most unique?

[But all of it's honestly been wonderful, and this is the most amount of people Yuya's ever had along for a birthday before. The day trip might have something to do with it, but Yuya feels like he's got real friends with him.]

[This is what Nana would prefer for all time.]

I loved both of them! Especially the castles. They were so pretty... I never saw anything quite like them back home.

[Though the castles and temples in Japan were just as beautiful, imposing, and grand. Just... a different sort of aesthetic. Nana likes both. She smiles, looking up at the night sky.

Then, she finds what she was looking for. She pulls out a little box, wrapped in gift paper. (The gift paper is sky blue with bananas on it because some things never change.)]

Here you go! Happy birthday!

Like something out of a fairy tale... [For someone definitely not used to seeing castles, it is. The academy is the closest he's seen before.

He stop briefly when he holds the gift out to him.] Oh--thanks, Nana!

[He takes it with an eager look, appreciating the wrapping paper... for like, a second, and then he's deftly ripping it off so he can see what's inside.]

Isn't it? [Nana smiles, happily. She's seen some castles before... but some is never enough, and the ones in Germany are different than the ones in France and Italy! Which are the main places she has been.

The package is a little wooden box. And inside is... a custom wooden bracelet! It's adjustable due to a metal clasp that can fit a few sizes.

And there's, engraved on it, some stars (like his goggles!) and bananas (like her hair!). It is totally a fancy friendship bracelet. Nana's waiting with eager anticipation to see his reaction.]

[Yuya stares into the box, mouth agape as he takes in the details.]

Nana, it's great! [His expression bursts into a wide grin, fumbling with the box to get the bracelet around so he can afix it to the wrist that doesn't already have bracelets on it.] Did you make this?!

Ah, I'm afraid not, but... I did commission it! I started working with the artist a couple weeks ago.

[She looks delighted with how he responds. Nana's expression brightens, and she takes the box from him -- gently -- so he can put it on.

She's not gonna say how much it cost. Yuya's worth it.]

I'm glad you like it!

[After Toki's gift of 500€ straight, Yuya doesn't need to know how much it cost.] That's just as good!

[Yuya laughs, hopping on his foot as he moves to throw his arms around Nana to pull her into a tight embrace.] Thank you! I'll definitely treasure it.

[She laughs, but she hugs him back. Yuya hugs are the best. Nana beams down at him and then brushes some hair out of her face.]

It's lacquered, too, so it shouldn't get scratched up or anything.

You think of everything. [Yuya beams back, letting the embrace linger a moment before he pulls back. Almost immediately, he's distracted again with turning the bracelet on his arm and appreciating the etching.

He's been practically bursting with joy the whole day, so the gift has him jittery with excitement. He's so happy, he's forgotten they were walking.]

It wouldn't do if it got scratched up while you were performing!

[She laughs and starts walking... but then Nana realizes he's distracted. She reaches behind to take his other wrist, and then give him a quick tug.]

We better not fall too far behind! Though... it's your birthday, the party is kind of where you are...

Oh--[Yuya looks up as he stumbles in peace with her.

He laughs.] I won't make everyone stand in the cold! I think everyone would like some warm food by now, right?

Mm-hm! And we're going to just the place for it! A bakery, so there'll be hot bread and warm food and good drinks!

[Nana beams back at him, before nudging him along and picking up the pace as best she can.]

[Yuya glances down as he catches up to her pace... and then tries to outpace her just slightly.]

Mm, I want hot cocoa. I hope they have it!

Any self-respecting bakery would!

I'm hoping for hot chocolate too. [Nana nods her head.] And maybe a pizza or a bread bowl with soup!

And dessert.

I want cake! [Yuya pumps his fist in the air. He might eat a real meal, too, if it smells good.] Let's hurry, we'll get there first!

Aaah, that sounds good! Your wish is my command, Mr. Birthday!

[And thus, Nana begins to walk faster... TO CAKE.]

Yes! [Yuya bolts forward, almost dragging Nana with him to the restaurant.

At least once in the door he calms down a little, enough to ask for a table for eight (even if Kano is missing). There's a glass case right in front with cakes and pies and other treats on display, tempting them while the host organizes the menus.]

So good...

[Nana laughs... and follows. She's happy to. She slides into the restaurant after, letting him ask for the table -- and knowing it will take a bit. A party of eight's pretty big.

She stops, then, in front of the glass case. Her eyes are wide with delight.]

Yuya...

...It isn't cheating to have a little now is it?

[It is absolutely cheating and Nana knows this.]

Well... [Yuya looks over at the display, leaning over... and then leaning over more.]

I make the rules on my birthday, right? So I say it's not cheating.

...they shall know us by our trail of crumbs, Yuya.

[She gives the desserts a very serious face, and then marches right up there.]

[Yuya leans in close with a smirk.] Let them.

I want one of everything.

[Yuya no.]

[YUYA YES.

Nana grins at him, then to the clerk:] One of everything! [She says it in French.

And... they... start doing a tray. With plates. They fit together like a hellish jigsaw of plates.]
