What: Yuya goes on a birthday excursion for with everyone he invited and who also talked their way into an invitation

Yuya spends the few days leading up to the first of March in a barely contained excitement as he plots out how to best use the school's helicopter transport, deliver word of mouth invites, and set a time to celebrate his 15th. Ultimately it's decided that because the trip is a few hours to make it a day event, with the helicopters taking off early and returning late into the night. Sticking with the group is probably advisable, although with so much time it's expected some people will wander. Yuya just wants a day to spend with his friends, instead of doing anything intricate.

The early hours are largely spent touring and window shopping, taking long walks through the markets, sampling food, or appreciating the rich art history on display. There's a lot of museums, parks, and it's the bright clear day. Chilly, though, so hopefully everyone brought jackets.

In the afternoon, they can hitch a ride on one of the paddle streamers along the river Elbe. It's a few hours of tour that takes them by the castles. The tickets aren't too expensive, but if someone can't afford it Yuya will spend some of his own money to spot them the ticket.

After the sun starts to wane and the temperature drop, it's off to warmer places. For those with the cash to spend, there's an opera house they might be able to catch a show at. Otherwise, the plan is to crowd up in some bakery-style restaurant for dinner and cake.

[ Not the best moment for the helicopter to lurch— it's not even Kano's doing, it's normal air turbulence and Nana should know better than to unbuckle her seatbelt in a moving aircraft. ]

Hey- hey!! Isn't the bathroom back on campus?! It's too late for that, Nana-chan!! Forget about it!

[But she makes eye contact with him and that... that is a mistake. Because she's facing him, instead of grabbing the bag from the pocket in front of her, or putting her face between her knees, or--]

[A few terrible seconds later, Nana makes a noise somewhere between whining and hiding:]

...I want to turn back time.

[ Regrets!!! Regrets regrets regrets

This is the second time he's had somebody throw up in front of him and it's never a fun time, especially when they're stuck in this tiny little helicopter that's already too cramped and they've got to fly for how long??

Kano undoes his seatbelt and stands up and opens the helicopter door. Unlike airplanes, these doors apparently open readily, goodbye. ]

[Nana contemplates how to clean up, until--she blinks and stares at him as opens the helicopter door.]

THAT SEEMS LIKE A BAD IDEA--ooogh, that's not good to look at...

IT'S OKAY!!

[ He has to shout over the wind— at least they're not in a jet going 340592803 mph, but there's still the roaring motor blades ]

I THOUGHT SOME FRESH AIR MIGHT DO YOU GOOD!!!

[Oh my god, Nana thinks, it's so loud.

OH MY GOD, Nana thinks, he's either stupidly cute or cutely stupid.

She stares at him slack-jawed, eyes blinking, and seems to have broken. No words come from her mouth. She forgets to be sick.

Nana.exe has had a fatal error.]

[ Oh good, that's a slight improvement. Kano raises his hand to cup the side of his mouth, like that'd help any with being heard over the blades. ]

GOOD, GOOD~! NOW SIT DOWN AND BUCKLE YOUR SEAT BELT BACK UP!!

[playitagain]

[She kind of makes it out by reading his lips.

Then she sighs, sits down, and manages to buckle her seatbelt. But then looks over her shoulder and yells back:]

YOU TOO!!

[suddenlybees]

Alright, alright~

[ Satisfied, Kano lowers his hand and steps forward back to his seat— and in that moment, the helicopter bumps again, tilts sideways, and dumps Kano out the open door. ]

[Nana stares, disbelieving, at the open door.

She doesn't scream. She doesn't move. She just stares, like she hasn't quite processed what's happening yet and hasn't thought to say something. Her hand grabs the armrest of the helicopter seat, tightly.]

[suddenlybees]

[ The helicopter blades drone on in the background, the sky bright blue and still. The world goes on. ]

K...Kano-kun?

[suddenlybees]

[ Silence............

I like to believe that everybody else in the helicopter watched this happen, stared for a moment, and then went back to looking at their phones. ]

[playitagain]

[oh my god

She starts undoing the seatbelt, staring at the open door. Her fingers have just enough of a shake that the seatbelt takes a second to get unfastened...]

KANO-KUN.

[suddenlybees]

—pft.

[ Kano is, of course and unfortunately, not hurtling through the air in free fall about to splatter all over the ground, but sitting in his seat with his legs drawn up to his chest so he can smother his laughter into his knees, letting the illusion drop as soon as Nana gets her seatbelt unfastened.

The door immediately appears shut, the drone of helicopter blades outside fainter. ]

Haha... It really worked... How great~

[ He can't be mean to Yuya on his birthday, so instead it's Nana, sorry;;; ]

[Nana hears the laughter next to her, and the panic that was welling up in her... doesn't actually abate but it stops increasing. She stares at him, incredulous for a second, and relieved despite everything.

She sputters once, incomprehensibly. Then she turns away from him and folds her arms.]

J-Jerk! I'm glad you're alive because I can tell you what a jerk you are! Playing a trick on me like that!

Hmph!

[suddenlybees]

[ The worst part about being stuck in a helicopter isn't the terrifying heights or the motion sickness, it's the fact that he's trapped and cannot escape. ]

Hahaha... Sorry, sorry~ Are you angry? That's good, isn't it? I don't think I've seen you angry before~

[playitagain]

Of course I'm angry! Y--You made me think you FELL OUT OF A HELICOPTER!!

[Her... her lips quirk up because it's maybe a little funny.

So then she makes her face look even angrier.]

H-hmph. You scared me! That... that wasn't funny at all!

[suddenlybees]

[ He caught that smile because she's ridiculous and it only makes it laugh harder, clinging to the seat belt across his chest like it's a literal lifeline somebody would have to rip out of his hands if they want to toss him out the door. ]

You're right! It's not funny at all! I'm sorry!!

[ AND YET. HE'S STILL LAUGHING. ]

Let me make it up to you?!

[Who's literally nibbling on her lower lip to try to keep from starting to giggle?

THIS GIRL.

She thinks it makes her look scary.]

I'm all ears as to how you'll do that!

Hahaha~ Your acting, Nana-chan, you acting! It's slipping~ You gotta frown harder to be convincing!

[ She's not fooling him!! He is also attempting to get out of owing her an IOU by teaching her how to look angry, when he's also never made a properly angry face in his life. ]

[Nana starts to get madder when he says her acting is slipping because HOW DARE HE except also that's a perfect idea.

She lifts her chin, eyes narrowing, and she... channels the time she played Dracula. So she fixes him with a smile.

Except it's an angry sort of smile.]

But I don't need to frown to be angry with you, Kano-kun.

It would complete the effect if she summoned a sword lmao

Ouch, that's it!

[ It's the kind of anger that you channel through your voice instead of your face, and it's a very very familiar tone that Nana takes with him.

This is exactly the face his sisters would make, just before they beat the hell out of him... how reminiscent. ]
