What: Yuya goes on a birthday excursion for with everyone he invited and who also talked their way into an invitation

Yuya spends the few days leading up to the first of March in a barely contained excitement as he plots out how to best use the school's helicopter transport, deliver word of mouth invites, and set a time to celebrate his 15th. Ultimately it's decided that because the trip is a few hours to make it a day event, with the helicopters taking off early and returning late into the night. Sticking with the group is probably advisable, although with so much time it's expected some people will wander. Yuya just wants a day to spend with his friends, instead of doing anything intricate.

The early hours are largely spent touring and window shopping, taking long walks through the markets, sampling food, or appreciating the rich art history on display. There's a lot of museums, parks, and it's the bright clear day. Chilly, though, so hopefully everyone brought jackets.

In the afternoon, they can hitch a ride on one of the paddle streamers along the river Elbe. It's a few hours of tour that takes them by the castles. The tickets aren't too expensive, but if someone can't afford it Yuya will spend some of his own money to spot them the ticket.

After the sun starts to wane and the temperature drop, it's off to warmer places. For those with the cash to spend, there's an opera house they might be able to catch a show at. Otherwise, the plan is to crowd up in some bakery-style restaurant for dinner and cake.

[ ...Ah, she knew this day would come, but she didn't think it would come so soon. Minako tilts her head to the side, a hand curled at her lips as she thinks. ]

Like... a water dog?

Azarashi?

[Ren has no idea what you're talking about]

[ She was afraid this day would come sooner or later. ]

I have no idea what that is.

Animals are hard, apparently.]

Why don't we just go and see for ourselves?

[missleading]

That's probably not a bad idea.

[ More like language is hard. Minako leads him past a few exhibits, most of which are empty due to the cold temperatures. The exhibit she stops at is more crowded than most, and it takes some time to break through to see what's on display:

Otters! No wonder this exhibit is so popular. ]

Oh! Kawauso!

[We're learning new words today!]

Oh, is that what they're called? That's cute!

[ This date is not only fun, but educational! Their teachers would be proud. ]

Come on, let's get a closer look.

[Moving closer gets them right up to the tank, where the glass is partially underwater so you can see the otters above and below the water]

[ Crouching down to get a better look, her eyes light up as she watches the otters swim around. Her attention occasionally strays to catch a glimpse at what he's doing, but for the most part she seems content enough to watch. But is she getting closer? Maybe Ren is just imagining things. ]

You know, I remember reading something somewhere about otters. Apparently, they'll hold hands to make sure they don't float away from each other.

[ And before he gets the chance to respond (or beat her to the punch like last time), Minako brings her hand down to grab hold of his. She won't push for it if he pulls his hand away, and if he doesn't respond right away, she'll try to laugh it off. ]

[Ren seems initially a bit surprised, before tightening his grip on her hand]

Guess we need to make sure you don't float away then.

[missleading]

[ She's not sure if her ploy worked until he tightens his grip on her hand. Her smile brightens, and she directs it at him full force. ]

I'm not going anywhere~

[prisoneroffate]

[This actually steals Ren's breath for a moment, and there's a noticeable pause before he responds with a somewhat shy smile]

Good, I prefer it that way.

[missleading]

[ Oh no, he's really cute? Minako notices the pause but doesn't make a big deal out of it, turning to look at the otters and giving Ren a moment to compose himself. Her gaze trails back toward him when she speaks. ]

...Was there anything here that you wanted to see?

[prisoneroffate]

[There's a short pause, and then]

Tigers.

[missleading]

[ Minako pauses before holding back a laugh. ]

You really like cats, huh?

[prisoneroffate]

They always live their best lives. It's admirable.

[missleading]

Don't they just sleep all the time?

[ Sounds like her brother. ]

[prisoneroffate]

Well, maybe most of the time.

[Ren fails to see the problem here]

[missleading]

[ Ren, you're going to sleep your life away with that mindset! ]

Well, hopefully they're awake when we get there. Ready to go?

[prisoneroffate]

Yeah, let's go.

[Arriving at the pen, they manage to get a full view of the tiger very attentively licking it's butt. Ren's next remark is almost immediate, without missing a beat]

Isn't it majestic?

[missleading]

It's... something, all right.

[ Ah, isn't nature beautiful? Just don't stare directly at it, that's rude. ]

[prisoneroffate]

I feel like this is my experience with every cat, no matter how big.

[He almost sounds hurt]

[missleading]

Maybe they all feel comfortable when they're in your presence?

[ She's trying really hard to make him feel better about his misfortune. ]

[prisoneroffate]

That would definitely be an explanation.

[missleading]

It's a good thing, right?

[ A little uncomfortable at times like this, but still positive. ]

It means you have a relaxing presence.
