EVENT - DAWNBREAKING PARTY

DAWNBREAKING PARTY
IC Comm | Network Comm | OOC Comm | Navigation
The sun has risen on a new year - a year closer to Daybreak’s ultimate confrontation, but a new year all the same. Instead of the customary welcome assembly and speech for students in January, the administration has decided to celebrate the students’ achievements of thwarting two Heralds, and thus ensuring that the sun can continue to rise at all. Soleil’s local amusement park, the Radiant Carnival, has been reserved for the Academy’s use on January 10th - which means free, unlimited reign of the park’s features and amenities, often with some further magical twists.

A. Welcoming Feast
Those who have attended the Academy before will by now be familiar with the kind of lavish spread Daybreak puts on for their start-of-year banquet, and the fare is as sumptuous as usual. The presentation comes with a twist, however - given that the party is hosted in the amusement park, the food has been laid out as an extensive buffet that students and staff can visit throughout the day, changing to new selections at certain hours to match the time of day.
The usual selection of drinks - both nonalcoholic and not - has also been made available through a combination of serving staff (for alcohol) and enchanted self-serve machinery (for anything else), allowing the possibly-inadvisable decision of mixing as many drinks as you can possibly get your hands on.
B. Amusement Park
For those who haven’t been to the Radiant Carnival before, it’s a colourful and magical sight - due to support from the Academy and the profit it turns from being one of the few places where the veil is more loosely enforced, it’s perpetually a bright spot, even in the winter landscape. Offering everything from the high-octane thrills of rollercoasters and drop towers to more sedate attractions like riverboat rides and merry-go-rounds, there’s no end to the entertainment that the Carnival provides - if an amusement park ride is reasonably common, the Carnival is sure to have it.
If amusement park rides aren’t to your tastes, there are also alleys and corners where people can gather for more traditional carnival games or - for those who prefer more technological pursuits, an arcade with everything from crane games and photobooths to high-tech game cabinets both enchanted and not. For those who want something more quiet, there’s space to sit and admire frozen water features, peaceful winter gardens, and even a castle to explore made from ice.
There’s bound to be something for everyone at the Radiant Carnival - or, at least, it aims to reach that standard.
C. Fireworks Show
As the day draws to a close and the sun sets, fireworks begin to burst in intricate patterns and vibrant colours in the darkening sky. While seating and rugs have been set up for convenience in the best places to watch the show from, those who are more daring might very well be able to secure a chance to set off some of these special fireworks themselves.
Or you can just bring your own and fire them off from somewhere else within the park, if you find the Academy’s selection lacking - though the administration will likely frown on it, if you’re caught.
D. Wildcard
The Radiant Carnival is open and free, at least for the day, to all of Daybreak’s attendees. Why not take advantage of it?

[Ammy shows up at the feast several times during the day, usually stuffing her face and running off just as quickly. However, she starts to stick around more as things wind down. It might be a good chance to talk to her.]
B
[She can also be sighted all over the park. When she's around, any signs of bad weather seem to disappear. Clouds will be blown away by sudden gusts of wind, and if it starts to get uncomfortably cold the sun will shine a bit harder for a moment.
She's also hard at work keeping the ice based attractions from melting, streams of cold flowing from a rosary around her neck.]
C
[And what's a festival without fireworks? Ammy will be part of the main show, creating Cherry Bombs with her Celestial Brush and sending them into the sky on a column of air. Once at a good height, they'll explode into the shapes of notable figures at Daybreak, past or present. There's Bowser, Avery, Zagreus, and of course Ammy herself in her wolf form.]
D
[Wildcard! Ammy's in a lot of places today, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to draw her into your own situations.]
C
...Is that supposed to be me?

There is something about a carnival that just seems to draw excitement from nearly anyone, including Giorno it would seem. The teen approached the area with something that almost looked like nervousness, but surely that couldn't be. He made his way toward the rides first, and soon enough his face was slightly chapped from the wind of the high speed coasters, and his hair mussed, but still keeping it's normal shape.
With the thrill from the rides still racing through him, and a brighter smile than normally seen on his face he made his way for the fair games. From growing up he expected most to be rigged against the player, a way to con extra money from those foolish enough to start paying at all. But here the games were free, so, what value was there in making them harder to win? He considered a few before trying some. The prizes also made him wonder, could he earn some things? Maybe give them... he realized he had people to genuinely give gifts to now, so maybe it would be worth the time.
C.
By the time the sky is getting dark enough for the fireworks, Giorno is feeling genuinely tired, and happy, something he didn't think would come so suddenly. Maybe it was getting to play like a kid, or just the cheer of the idea and the day rubbing off on him, but he honestly felt good. Sure, he was certain that some things might have been able to be better, but, he couldn't complain, and he would take that, over the struggle of trying to find something to enjoy, and faking a smile every day.
He watches as the sky blooms with bright colors, looking content. Gold Experience is out as well, lounging beside him, but unlike normal the stand isn't all but plastered against him, just leaning one shoulder in against the teen. Like this, both of them look approachable, and welcoming.
D.
Giorno can be found through the day wandering around. Between rides on roller coasters and game stalls, he always finds a way to have some kind of chocolate treat in his hand, pudding, ice cream, even hot cocoa, always some chocolate treat. He looks a bit like a kid in a candy shop, an excitement vibrating under his skin, but a nervousness holding him back from just running at everything.
B
What's also weird is that there's usually a woman nearby who doesn't exactly seem human. Perhaps she has something to do with this?

He sees Giorno several times before he actually stops long enough to talk to him.
"Isn't this great?" Vivi can barely hide the excitement in his voice. He's so full of restless, enthusiastic energy that he seems to be holding back the urge to just hop up and down on the spot. "Everything is so nice!"

Reira is a rather odd-duck of a ten year old, for good reasons as well. The reasons aren't especially important right now, but they Are good. As it is, she is now also Staring. Quite openly as well; her eyes still have yet to leave the pair that are Gold Experience and Giorno. Eventually-
"...Why are they like that?"
The 'that' is unclear. It will probably be unclear for a while though- most kids can't detect emotions.

[The first public festival Lancer attends after he joins the academy. Lancer enjoys food and drinks, so there is no harm in participating. But ever since coming he has been pretty mellow and introverted. What's gotten to himself? Or so he thinks.
You will see him with a hawaiian outfit hanging around. Feel free to approach him, bother him, steal his drink, make some commotion? He's down with any for now.]
b.
[It has been a while since Lancer goes to an amusement park. Whenever he sees the scary rides, on one side he is kinda excited to try but on the other side he's worried if it's worth it to risk such crazy rides. He will be more than happy to take a lady on a date in this beautiful park, however his luck with women so far has been...not great. But feel free to hit him up if you are trying to find a date as well!
on the other hand, Lancer is also an avid explorer. So you will definitely notice him wondering around the arcade, lying down on the winter gardens for some peaceful nap, or even standing in front of the ice castle debating whether he should go in or not. if you are around, kick him in the butt and force him to socialize will ya?]
c.
[Ah. Fireworks. Probably Lancer's favorite among all the festival. He is about enjoying the view - so might as well go to the best place to see it. He will climb up the tallest building he can see around the academy and will oversee the whole academy and sunset. If you are crazy enough to do the same thing you will probably notice a blue haired guy at the edge of the building, casually observing the beautiful sunset and the fireworks that are about to begin. Join him for a, romantic time together?]
d.
[It's festival day! Please pester Lancer in any way that you can. Playing hide and seek? Down. Trying to steal his food or stuffs and ended up in a hit-and-chase situation within the academy? Perfect. Casually competing for weird things and ended up messing a lot of thing around them? Let's do it. It's all about having fun and who knows? A unique first impression might be the way to go.]
C
[The man asked with quiet curiosity as he lights a cigarette, giving his face a brief orange glow before the lighter clicked closed, oddly he's angled so he's facing away from the sun]

A. Lunchtime, at a table relatively far away from the crowd but still in sight of the buffet.
[Emille is playing around with the plate of finger foods she had taken off of the buffet while she watches the crowds come and go. Every now and then, she will dunk a piece of celery into some dip and munch on it. To the casual observer, she might just seem like a bored little child who needs some company to get her into the spirit.]
B. Early afternoon, the winter gardens.
[As a biologist, Emille appreciates studying living things, and so she has made her way to the winter gardens to walk amongst the variety of plants on display. Care to join her for a stroll?]
D. Anytime between lunch and early evening, some calmer area of the Carnival.
[Wildcard. Emille is sorry that she is more of a talker than a doer today, as she knows this kind of laid-back activity only comes around once or twice a year... Maybe you can persuade her to do something somewhat fun? But watch out, as she needs to head back to her dorm room before dark, and she will be very insistent about it.]
A; Hope you don't mind
You don't look so good, Miss Emille. Perhaps a spot of company will brighten your mood?
of course not! ♥
Yay, I'm glad! ♥

[It's the Welcoming Day Feast!
This is Nana's third one -- that feels a little weird -- and her first as class president. She is standing near the door when it starts, welcoming new and old students alike as they arrive. She has her white uniform on, sash over her chest, and is beaming.
She still loves these occasions. It's fun getting to talk to people; it's more fun getting to see the new faces. Even if Nana feels a little bit of tension, as she stands here. They're getting closer and closer to Nightfall.
But right now, it's a good time. A chance to say hi, and welcome people.]
B. FIREWORKS!!
[At the end of the day, the feast and carnival done, Nana is at the fireworks celebration. The way she usually does, at the end of the night, she's a little off to the side. At a point, there's a lot of socializing... and maybe wanting a break from talking to everyone.
But not from anyone.
She leans against a tree, watching the fireworks, and looks up happily. It's a nice moment. She still gasps, oos, and aahs sometimes when she sees the fireworks go.]

It probably isn't much of a surprise to see Desidera frequently at the buffet, and probably even less of one to see how much she takes on any given visit.
If any other students—or even faculty—happen to approach while she's busy getting more, she pauses and points them toward one of the things that she's already had. "Ah, have you tried this yet? It's really good."
This is a girl that will eat basically anything as long as it's not terribly bitter, so if the person she's speaking to knows that about her, her suggestion might or might not mean too much, depending on how they look at it.
B: (open)
Amusement parks in general are a pretty new thing to her. Not new in the sense that she doesn't actually know about them, but mostly in that she's simply never been to one before. So, in the earlier parts of the day, when she's not going back for even more food, Desidera is checking out everything. The rides, the games, the other attractions, everything.
..... Almost everything.
She's not terribly interested in the rollercoasters, though it might be possible for some people to convince her to give them a try.
C: (Gunvolt)
When it comes closer to time for the fireworks, Desi makes one last trip to the buffet, and after picking out a selection of snacks from what's left there, makes her way to where she and Gunvolt had had agreed to meet to watch the show.
A

Kohaku normally didn't go to arcades. She considered them sinkholes for money.
But today, as she was walking by the Mortal Kombat booth, she'd overheard someone mention to his girlfriend that really, games like this weren't for girls because they were too fast paced and technical.
She'd seen red for a moment, and next thing she knew she had been playing for half an hour. The guy, wherever he was now, had been absolutely crushed by Kohaku's familiarity with the game and also her superhuman reflexes, as had a dozen other challengers. She was starting to wonder if she was being unsporting here, and starting to run low on change. But mainly, she felt vindicated. "Not for girls" her ass. Who TALKS like that in this day and age?
-2-
Later on. Night has fallen, but it's not that cold. Perhaps the mild weather was thanks to Amaterasu's influence. Kohaku was lying on a hillside near the park which normally would have been a pretty out of the way spot, but right now was actually kind of crowded because it was an IDEAL fireworks watching location, which was exactly what she was doing.
It had been a HELL of a year, but for now she could just stop thinking about much of anything in favor of watching the pretty colors in the sky.
"...Is that one shaped like a sardine?"
That'd be Professor Valvatorez, then.
A
Eventually he'd walk up, hands in his pockets and still wearing a smile.
"I've never seen so many people get lit up in such a short stretch. That was awesome, Kohaku."

[ In any other place, Hornet would be one of the first to stand out. As it is, though, a girl in red with horns probably barely warrants a glance.
What may warrant a glance, though, is her choice in food. Not only is it mostly meat, and a sizeable amount at that, but it all seems to be on the pinker, rawer side when she can get it.
There are vegetables, too, but mostly salad greens - nothing cooked. Once she's finished taking samples of apparently every type of meat dish there, she retires to somewhere she can sit in comfort and starts eating like it's going to be taken away from her at any moment, with startling efficiency.
Old habits die hard. ]
B
[ Hornet wanders the park, taking in the sights and sounds. Despite her confident stride, she doesn't seem to have any particular goal in mind; she's never seen most of these constructions before, and is attempting to discern their purpose.
You may catch her reading one of the many signs or pamphlets describing the attractions around the park. ]
This machine throws you around at speed...and this is for entertainment? [ She sounds cautiously fascinated. ] Truly, humans have strange tastes...
[ She appears to be in of two minds as to whether to try it herself, though. Help her out? ]
D
[ You may find Hornet trying her skill at the carnival games or the arcade, or just perched on statues or buildings around the park, among other things. Do whatever you like! ]
B
[Zagreus was just kind of there. Hornet probably heard him coming because she's like that, but to anyone else it would have been a surprise.]

[ Vivi is, of course, sampling the food. But his current project appears to be doing something odd with the drinks - namely, mixing them for different tastes.
For science, of course. Food science.
Someone might want to intervene before he starts mixing more than three together. Or you could just watch him...or join in...or encourage it. ]
B
[ Vivi isn't much for high octane thrills, and thus prefers the slower rides and things he can take at more of a sedate pace. You might find him spinning on a teacup ride, enjoying a merry-go-round with every sign of happiness, or exploring the various ice attractions on offer (though half the time he tends to be faceplanting; he's still not very good at keeping his footing).
When he's not doing that, he's trying out the games at the arcade. It's clear he has absolutely no idea what he's doing half the time and may be a little too short for intended heights, but he looks like he's having a great time, and isn't that the important thing? ]
C.
[ If you've ended up in Vivi's vicinity while watching the fireworks, it's inevitable that he'll offer snacks of some kind. Maybe it's candy, or something he pocketed(?) from the buffet, or some other kind of food he actually brought with him, but it Will Happen. ]
This is really nice, isn't it? [ He's nodding off a bit by now, the glow in his eyes dimming, but it seems to be a happy kind of tired. He's definitely enjoyed himself. ]
D
[ Anything else. ]
C
[So, he inevitably accepts it.]
...Why? They're just explosions, yanno.
[...]
[He internally sighed to himself, bringing his knees closer to his chest and just focused more on the sky. Even when he was just trying to normally talk with someone, he messes it up somehow.]

[If there's one thing Lia appreciates about the numerous celebrations at this school, it's, as always, the food. And this time, Lia's not recoiling at the presentation every time she passes by. As she comes and goes throughout the party, she's spotted often coming back to the buffet.
If she comes back after a new selection's come out, she lingers for a long while-- If she notices someone trying to get to the buffet, she squeaks a bit and shifts away so they can get closer.]
Sorry!
B
[Lia's spending just as much time wandering the park, at least. When it comes to the rides, she splits her attention between the higher-octane rides and the more low-key ones relatively equally, but after a while, she makes her way over to the icy attractions. It's nice and quiet here--though she's certainly not opposed to company.
... And there's no way she's going without a visit to the arcade. Might as well try everything once, right?]

create-your-own soda
[ Leo can, throughout the majority of the feast, be found with mixed up drinks of basically any color - even... brown? black?
He doesn't seem to dislike a single creation, either, and is chugging away whenever he's not absolutely tearing through the food. Which... isn't quite as frequent as him sitting and working on various devices and trinkets. The only time he can be seen sitting in one place for longer than maybe ten minutes, he's working on what looks like... some kind of mechanical creature - a... um... hamster, from the looks of it! Hm.
The creature is still very much not in the functional stages, but it does occasionally make a robotic squeaking sound.
Every now and then, he'll remember he has food, absently hold a flaming hand over it for a few minutes, and then go back to eating it. ]
− · · ·
hacking the system
[ Oh heck yeah...
A certain demigod is all about fun and games, and it looks like this place has a ton of those. He's brightening up more than his flaming hand and moving from carnival game to carnival game as though he's never seen one up close and personal before. Which... he hasn't (but leeeeeet's not think about that right now).
Though, the fun thing about being all about machinery and being able to sense when things aren't working just right? Well... Needless to say, Leo's humming and possibly trying to get closer looks at some of them, the embodiment of Judgement for a few of them. ]
Yeah, sure, and I'm Archimedes himself.
[ He's talking at one of the crane games. Feel free to question what he's going on about or judge that he's talking to a machine.
Later on, he can be seen at the arcade games, though he spends more time studying how they're built than actually playing a few of them. Or muttering something as he lightly pats the side of one. ]
Ah... this one needs a little tweaking.
− · − ·
putting the fire in fireworks
[ OKAY, BUT...
... Yeah, he might have stolen a few things before sneaking away to build his own fireworks? He doesn't seem remotely apologetic about it either. Nevermind that some of the messages in the bigger fireworks by him say... random or questionable things (i.e. random vulgar slang or various fire puns).
Some random people will get targeted by some customized "fireworks" which are basically just bright light and... glitter. No loud noise, no actual heat - just... sparkly lights. Fun!
Other random people might get targeted by some that make a soft noise, but he won't be hitting people who are obviously lost in thought, sleeping, or anything like that - he doesn't want to die if he can help it. Sure, he's fast, but like... some people around here are super powerful? ]

Anyone who knows Rex will know he has some kind of undiagnosed eating disorder and is almost incapable of not eating food within arm's reach. When he can't fit anymore in his stomach, he starts shovelling it into a pack which never seems to fill. He's set up a beacon that tells him when the spread has changed, and as he approaches, staff can be heard getting increasingly exacerbated throughout the day.
Towards the end of the festivities, someone literally forces cash into his hand and tells him to leave.
So, on the periphery of the buffet, Rex offers cash to someone else.
"I'll give you this if you get as much as you can in this bag and bring it to me."
B
Rex can be found looking at one of those photos you can get when you ride a rollercoaster. It's of himself, though you could not possibly tell he was on one except for the fact that one long droopy bit of hair that goes down the middle of his face is being pulled around in the wind of it. He's wholly flat-faced.
"Rollercoasters are boring," he says aloud, to no one.
C
Hey kids. It's Indrik time.
The bizarre chimaera has rushed the field and is picking a fight with the fireworks- blasting off his own fireballs, which burst into dazzlingly beautiful displays of rainbow colours with powerful, harmonic booms. It's probably better than actual fireworks.
And then, he eats a bunch of them. There's a brief moment where he stands stock still, then begins to vibrate on the spot. An enormous gout of colourful flames explodes from his throat, fortunately, aimed straight up. It's so magnificently massive and bright that for a brief moment, it seems like the sun has come up and is on LSD.

"Then why'd you go on one?" Seriously, Rex...

[There's not much appeal to the food for her, but she's fascinated by the dispensers. Not that she's normally one to experiment, but...
Well.
Life is short, you have to mix everything together and drink it at least once before the world ends.]
Huh.
[She stares down into her cup.]
This looks terrible.
[She might be having some regrets now.]
b;
[The amusement park and the carnival is infinitely more interesting than the food, and Adelaide will gladly spend hours running around to all the attractions. She's happy to hop onto the roller coasters, and she can be found in line for them quite often. Still, sometimes she'll take a break from thrill seeking and go enjoy some of the games or some of the more sedate rides.
If she spots anyone she recognizes as a student - or even faculty - she'll cheerfully wave at them.]
Hey! How's it going?
[Or, later in the evening, she'll be hovering by the games with a grin on her face.]
You in the mood for competition?

[She kicks back, looking up at the sky and watching the fireworks get set off. Somehow, as the day goes on, she's getting more and more energetic. There's still a small smile on her face, and she nods at anyone that passes her by. After a moment, she lets out a content sigh.]
It's beautiful, isn't it?

[Of course, Puella was all over the free food. From the sugary sweets to regular amusement park junk food. The fancy stuff, though nice, sometimes just can't beat out what the classics.]
[She can be found popping in and out throughout the day. Usually with a big plate because...kids eat a lot, apparently.]
[...Was that a drink full of meat sauce?]
B
[Puella was possibly drawing a bit of attention to herself with the suspicious amount of precision she was having with a few of the carnival games. She would throw a ball at a target but no matter how off it seemed to be, it would always land a hit. Sometimes with the glimpse of a purple star or two, but if the person behind the counter wasn't going to acknowledge it then she especially won't!]
[Eventually she was going to need a cart to carry all these prizes around. Some of them she might just give away to people she likes. Others she might be willing to help chea--ah, give advice to if they need it.]
C
[At night, Puella might be fairly easy to spot given that the huge locket she was wearing was jam packed with Radiance. The metal was magical enough to keep the Radiance effects contained, but the glow was practically a beacon from far enough away. She needed that light to find the highest hill to watch the fireworks from. That way she can observe most the lights and decorations from the park and the show itself.]
It's prettyyyyy [All the sparkling lights around was kind of like watching a different sort of star field!]

It should be known that she isn't especially-picky when it comes to food or drinks, nor is she particularly judgmental when it comes to other peoples' choices, but that as a drink? That just seems strange.]

[By now, nobody should be surprised by the truly ludicrous amounts of food Akechi takes every time he visits the buffet. The coffee he takes also shouldn't come as a surprise...until he goes for some toward the end of the day. Almost as soon as he starts to drink, he seemingly chokes and spits the mouthful of hot liquid out in a rather spectacular spray. Hopefully nobody was in front of him for that...]
Ngh...already?
[B]
[In between stuffing himself on gourmet food and trying to defy doctor's orders about his caffeine intake, Akechi is thrilled to have free access to an amusement park. Though he's avoiding the more high-speed rides that might cause problems for a weak stomach, there's still plenty for him to have fun with. Most notably, he seems interested in the arcade, though the nervous way he glances around suggests he maybe isn't used to visiting them...at least not alone.
One shooter game, however, manages to catch his interest. And, as it turns out, he's a natural. Both CPU and actual players alike get blown away by his downright superhuman aim and speed, as an impressed crowd starts to form. A few people whisper, wondering how he does it. Maybe challenge him and see for yourself?]
[C]
[By sunset, Akechi's looking...distinctly drowsy. He settles down on one of the rugs to watch the fireworks, enthusiastic at first...before he slowly finds himself lowering down until he's using the rug as a bed. Despite the bright lights and distant crackling of explosions, he winds up dozing off in the middle of the show. At...least he doesn't snore?]

[ In the corner of the buffet area, a gazebo has either been erected or enchanted into being. CELEBRITY REFRESHMENTS, says a sign written in gold script over the entrance. Said script is sparkling despite the absence of any detectable light source.
Step within the gazebo's pristine, ornate woodwork, and the usual sounds of an amusement park vanish, replaced with the soft strains of classical music. A tea party has been spread out on a round table here, plenty of tiny fancy sandwiches and pastries, as well as a variety of different teas to sample. An Oriental carpet lies underfoot, but despite its plush thickness, it would never dream of impeding upon a chair being pushed back so a guest may be seated.
And presiding at the head of the table - one can tell it is the head of the round table because she is sitting on a throne instead of a normal chair - is Shikyoin Hibiki. Who is looking at something on a tablet, until she notices she has a guest. Then she glances up and smiles. ]
Hey. Did my refined sensibilities attract you?
[ B ]
[ It's hard not to notice the crowd of people - mostly young women - gathered around one particular machine in this arcade. There is much squealing. Perhaps a little squeeing. Definitely a lot of sighing.
Push one's way to the eye of the storm and, oh boy, it's Hibiki again. Who is raptly tapping her way through a rhythm arcade game, hands flying over the buttons to hit every note precisely as intended.
Her focus won't be interrupted until the song ends - she's set a high score - and then she steps back and snorts. ] An obvious result. Hmph.
[ She's still smirking, though. And eyeing the pop-up that's asking if she wants to play again. Completely ignoring how, with this crowd around....it's getting hard for anybody else to play things, too. ]
[ D - Butterspy ]
[ There is a purple butterfly fluttering around the celebrations. Those particularly knowledgeable of, or sensitive to, Rune magic may notice that it is, in fact, an automaton. It doesn't seem to be doing anything in particular, though. Just watching.
That said, if anybody desires their character be witnessed doing something it would be funny for a total snob to just happen to oversee using an unnecessarily Extra piece of spy equipment, drop a link here and Hibiki's reaction to the thread will be provided. ]
D! Reira is an empath, but I won't let her pick anything up from Hibiki without your say-so, ok? :0
She then proceeds to start trying to follow it, which on the one hand, isn't harming the butterfly but on the other might ruin its cover while spying on people...
She's curious alright. The butterfly doesn't have any feelings, none at all. Not even tiny butterfly feelings!]

[Today is a good day to be human. To have hands with clever fingers and the ability to eat more than meat, and actually taste it too. It's a staggering pile of food, overwhelming him with choices. There aren't any, normally, prey is prey and no hawk can afford to be picky. (And they're not known for their sense of smell or taste anyway.)
Tobias, currently a terrible teenage menace, is slouching around the table, doing his best to try a little of everything... rather like he's assuming he won't get another chance. Maybe not even a second plate, if he's too stuffed to go back for more after the first. He nabs himself a bite or two of each dish, as much as he can cram onto the plate. Eating for flavor, not to fill his belly--it's all going to disappear when he morphs back. It won't feed his hawk body, which is a good thing. His poor little birdie stomach might bust.
Plate filled, he goes and finds an empty table to sit at, one hand in his pocket at all times. Hands. Honestly, arms in general. So awkward dangling there when there's nothing to do with them. Can't fold them at his side in any comfortable way like he can wings, not without pockets. Time for him to eat a very different sort of meal!]
[The rides aren't that interesting to him. He went on a few, expecting more of a thrill than he got. One year ago he would have been over the moon to go to an amusement park like this... but the sensation of flying and falling that one gets from a roller coaster is nothing compared to the way he flies and dives every day, let alone what it's like to become a dragonfly, zooming along like he's strapped a rocket to his back.
Shapeshifting. It does weird things to the mind.
So he's gone on to play games instead, fixating on one of those claw machines. Only he can't seem to win, no matter how carefully he positions the damn claw. It's probably rigged. He knows this. And it's not as if he wants a silly stuffed animal that badly.
But it's so addicting, he can't seem to stop telling himself one more try, maybe he'll get it this time... hey, it's not like he's blowing money on the thing!]
C
[It's the longest he's spent in human form since he discovered his talent. Hours and hours of humanity today. But by the time the sun's set and the fireworks are about to begin, he's changed back into his hawk form and nestled down into one of the blankets. Not a branch, no, but he'd rather be closer to the crowd. With this many people around, he's probably safe from local owls, ones he hasn't made a treaty with, as well as other night predators that might come after a bird on the ground. He's gambling on that. Because hawk vision makes the fireworks show so much more vivid and colorful... it would be a shame to miss out and be stuck with weak human eyes!]
D
[Whatever you like! Catch the terrible teenage menace just wandering around with his hands jammed in his pockets, completely failing to Act Normal, idk. He may never be human in public again, ~seize your moment~.]
B
But someone's struggling with one, so he feels obliged to at least try to help them out. ]
Which one are you trying to get? [ He gets up on his tiptoes to see if he can assist. ]

[ flat is definitely interested in the feast, and it's where he can most be found, his eyes practically sparkling at the selection of food and drinks.
and, of course, he'll be seen in the self serving drink station mixing every option that is available into his cup. once he has chosen all of them, he'll look at whoever is closest to him in the eye, grinning ]
Hey, hey, watch this.
[ and he'll down the whole thing.
and then make a disgusted expression. ]
Ew.
b.
[ of course when it comes to amusement parks, flat has to ride the roller coasters.
and even though he knows that his attitude has made quite a lot of students either confused or even outright dislike him, he'll be trying to grab someone's wrist, trying to drag them to a roller coaster. ]
Come on, come on, we should go try this one!
[ he doesn't want to go alone, ok? ]
c.
[ well, if the administration will frown upon on students bringing their own fireworks, then that means that it's a perfect idea for flat.
he's holding a bag with a bunch of small, homemade fireworks and a smile that is too wide to be innocent. ]
Wanna try these out?
